I love this place. Such a great thing to do for yourself. I highly recommend it! Take one of Kara Jones’s classes. She makes them so much fun!

Okay, I waited for almost 4 months before writing the review. Sky Gym is absolutely AWESOME!!! This gym is for people with all type of physical condition and strength, and there are variety of classes for people with different needs and interest. All the instructors and assisting instructors here are knowledgable and friendly, they take the time explain things patiently in detail for everyone who needs assistance, even with the least athletic sport idiot like me… Hahaha.
Flight school might look hard in the beginning but with enough practice, everything is possible. I been going to the gym few times a week since March and my strength have improved a lot since then. I am actually looking forward to go to the gym for practices and classes, unlike other gym that I need to drag my feet to it. Working out is fun at the Sky Gym but also challenging. For people who are looking into different way of getting fit, I urge you to try out Sky Gym, you might end up loving it so much like I do. :)

I was so excited to start classes at sky gym. However, when stopping in between POSTED BUSINESS HOURS to inquire about classes I was treated so rudely that I never want to return. The blonde lady with glasses sitting on the couch with her feet propped up completely ignored me. When I struck up a conversation with her she seemed annoyed and put out. I asked a few questions pertaining to classes and gift certificates and she informed me that she «could not help me and they were closed but she forgot to lock the door». She must’ve noticed the confusion on my face because then she informed me that she did not «work» there she was just a «instructor». Well gee lady I hope I don’t get stuck in your class. I’m not trying to be mean but, sometimes it’s hard for people to try new things and I wish the atmosphere would’ve been more welcoming.

I was in Atlanta for a week in March 2014 and decided to give this studio a try. I e-​mailed with Amber beforehand, since I have several years of experience, to get instructor permission to take the advanced classes. She was very responsive and welcoming. She was cool with me coming in for practice gave me an appropriate wrist-​band, which they use to monitor how high students are allowed to practice on the rig.
I got a lot out of her class, which allows drop-​ins. Even in her level 3 class, which was reviewing moves that I know well, she had really good ideas about transitions and how to make them more interesting. I liked that she had planned her lesson well and could handle the mix of levels in her class, making it interesting for everyone — the pacing was very good, with a lot of add-​ons for people who could do the basics easily.
I also took a class with Marina (level 4?) that had a lot of strong students. She is also very friendly and obviously a very skilled aerialist, so I recommend her, too.
They have decent height in the studio — enough for a triple star. Some of the rigging is a little close together at the top. Since I am tall, I had to select the right rig for the moves all the way at the top, but everyone was friendly and switching wasn’t an issue.
The studio itself is pretty nice, with a few different spaces. Open practice gets busy (you don’t get a dedicated apparatus), but people are friendly about sharing, so I definitely got my workout in. I’m used to warehouse-​style studios, so this nice, finished, climate-​controlled space is a definite treat!
People seem really nice. I would highly recommend Sky Gym if you live in the area for regular classes, or even if you’re just visiting Atlanta for a short time.

It’s a beautiful studio with lots of space and they offer lots of classes. Originally I thought I would enjoy the aerial silks classes but I eventually sampled some of the other ones like Sky Yoga, Partner Balancing, and Sky Fit and actually enjoyed those more! All the instructors are great, but I think Mister Porch is the best. He is great at explaining things, is supportive, and always leads a fun class! People of all fitness levels should try it out!

If you like to play around in the air while looking super awesome doing so (kinda like Peter Pan), you will love Sky Gym. Every class at Sky Gym is an incredibly fun workout! Along with sky yoga, aerial silks, trapeze, and lyra classes, Sky Gym also offers contortion, and partner balance classes. I took my Intro to Aerial Dance class about two weeks ago, which can be quite challenging for some people but a very fun class nonetheless. The instructors were so friendly and helpful. Cannot wait to return for my upper level aerial silks classes. Try it! When was the last time you did something for the first time?!? :)

I have been practicing aerial silks for a little over 2 years now! I have been to a wide variety of studios all around the country. I am proud to call Sky Gym my home gym!
Aerial arts are literally for everyone. You don’t have to be the strongest or most flexible person to try it! It is such an amazing, gratifying workout. The more you go, the stronger you get. I would 100% recommend this to anyone and everyone.
Don’t be afraid to try something new! I know it can be intimidating to try something so out-​of-​the-​ordinary but you will feel welcome and safe. Amber, the owner, is very big on safety and makes sure if you are new that you feel secure and work at your level. Everyone who goes there is friendly and will make you feel welcome!
I have taken a variety of classes with a variety of teachers here! Kara’s silks classes are SO fun, she will keep you laughing and smiling the entire class! Porch’s acroyoga will inspire you and make you want to stay for hours longer (unfortunately the class is only an hour but I would love for it to be at least 1.5 hours!) Rain’s aerial yoga is relaxing and intimate. And as if Amber’s amazing biceps aren’t enough motivation to push yourself to get stronger and climb higher, her passion keeps you coming back.
The first aerial silks class I took at Sky Gym was in their old location inside Wall Crawlers. Since then they have moved to the most gorgeous space. Amber seems to be constantly working to make the gym better and have even more class offerings. The space is very open and filled with light. They keep it very clean, which is appreciated as you roll around barefoot on the mats! :)
My only warning is that once you go to a class at Sky Gym– you. will. be. addicted.

Hanging upside down like Spider-​Man! Getting in an awesome workout w/​a bunch of ladies. Yeah, I love this place. I’ve worked Amber, Kara, and Mr. Porch so far and they have been absolutely wonderful instructors. I highly recommend @ least trying the intro class for $ 19 bucks. You’ll either love it or you won’t, the worst that’ll happen is you’ll get a good workout.

The Sky Yoga class was by far the most fun yoga class I have ever taken!
Finally got a chance to check out the new location and it is beautiful! Lots of natural light pours in through the floor to ceiling windows. The yoga class was in a smaller room off to the side, affording a more private feel.
The class started off with laying down in the silk, hammock style. The feeling of weightlessness this creates is so incredibly relaxing, it’s unbelievable. We progressed on to more typical yoga moves such as modified pigeon pose, warrior pose, split stretches, and downward dog. All of these moves are so different when using the silks and provide a really deep stretch. You really feel as if you are floating off the ground. Amber was an awesome instructor, going around to position us as needed, making sure to keep us within our comfort levels. I loved the small intimate feel to this class (classes are 6 ppl or less). Most of the moves are done immersed completely in the hammock so you aren’t constantly comparing yourself to others. This is a great class for all fitness levels, as you can modify the moves to make them easier or more challenging. After this class, I felt like the stress and tension in my body had melted away.
If this isn’t already on your bucket list, it should be! Can’t wait to go back!

After careful research I finally decided to try aerial silks. I was hurt in a car accident a year ago and want to continue to rehab my core. I have heard from numerous people that aerial work is a great way to strengthen my core. I took my first intro class Saturday. The instructor Amber and assistant Lauren were amazing and really worked with my lack of flexibility. We started with an introduction talk which covered safety amongst other topics. We did some cardio, then stretching, and then experienced working with the silks. It was amazing and didn’t hurt my back at all. I can’t wait for the next class!
Sky Gym has an amazing variety of aerial and cirque arts that you can experience and it is by far the most extensive in all of Atlanta that I have seen. They have silks, lyra, trapeze, chains, and cord to name a few. They also offer acrobalancing, partner yoga, aerial yoga, contortion, and etc. Plus you can participate in showcases and actually perform at events once you reach the higher levels. All of the trainers are professional performers that train and perform across the United States and even abroad.
I did extensive research on facilities in the Atlanta area. The thing that I loved the most about Sky Gym was that they have a great new state of the art climate controlled facility that is dedicated purely to Aerial and Cirque Arts. All but one other gym that I checked out were multi-​functional and non-​specialty facilities. The days of going to the gym and having people on a climbing wall, weight lifting, TRX training, or Cross-​Fit training in the same building or room are over!
I found out that the trainers at Sky Gym will only teach people to the level that they are certified to train at. There are several locations starting up that have people that haven’t been certified to train people higher than a level 1 or level 2 that are trying to train people up to level 3, 4, and higher. I also found out that they are one of the only companies that are a legit company and one of the few that have insurance. I care too much about my health and well being to trust it to some chop shop at a discount rate (and the discount is for a reason and yes I am including those popular buy in the next 4 days at half price sites).
— Always ask a gym if they have liability insurance. I know you sign a waiver, but they must do their best to keep us safe. If they hurt you due to lack of experience or training and have no insurance, good luck.
— Always ask the trainer what level they are certified to and ask for references.
— Always validate that they inspect their equipement. The equipment does fatigue in time and should be inspected and replaced on a regular basis.
— Make sure they are an actual company and didn’t just open up a little kiosk studio in someone else’s gym.
— Ask to view a progression test ahead of time so you can verify that they have a legit plan for you. These should be a series of posses and moves that you must achieve before you can move to the next level. You should have to test into the next level and they should document that you have tested out of the previous level.
— Last but not least, there is a board of Aerialists that are writing all of the rules for testing, training, and accredidation for Aerial work and if the gym isn’t a member of the board, I wouldn’t consider them a valid member of the community. This means that your safety isn’t a concern to them.
This is an incredible art form with the most incredible people. It is highly addictive Please be safe as it can be very dangerous. I am concerned about my health and well being and hope you are about yours.

Once again, instead of updating my review for a 4^th time, I figured I’d just write a new one.
I started with Sky Gym back in September 2011 & it has done nothing but improve my life. I’m stronger, more confident, & tougher physically & mentally than I ever thought I could be. The trainers are all very knowledgeable, skilled, & have their own style. I’ve worked consistently with Marilyn, McKinley, & Kara. They push you to do your best, whatever that might be. The other students are supportive & welcoming. There’s not that same level of competition or judging that I’ve found in the dance world. Maybe it’s because it’s such a small community, but there’s more of a supportive & helpful spirit than trying to cut each other down.
The new studio is absolutely amazing with high ceilings, tons of windows, & 2 rooms for both aerial & circus classes. With the new studio also came new classes. In addition to silks, there’s now lyra (aerial hoop), trapeze, contortion, «flow» an improvisational class, acroyoga/​acrobalance, & aerial yoga. My favorites so far are contortion, lyra, & acro. Each challenges me in a new way. I can definitely see myself continuing to take those classes & advance in those skills. Acro isn’t at a convenient time for me currently, but I like to go whenever I have the opportunity. It requires a very high level of trust in the other students in the class & definitely isn’t for the faint of heart. And your quads will definitely be feeling in the next day. There are also more open practice times to work on the new skills.
The best part is I know even if I’m having a horrible day, I can go to class or practice & come out feeling like a new woman. I’ve had some less than wonderful personal issues since I started aerial work & it really helped me get through some of the worst moments. I can’t guarantee that will happen for everyone, but I can definitely say you’ll get an awesome workout with an amazing group of people who are passionate about what they do.

I’ve really enjoyed taking classes at Sky Gym for several years now (since before they had their own studio). It’s fun, a serious workout, and a really unique way to spend an hour. Classes are well-​priced and staff is very flexible in terms of cancellations, which is good for me since I have an often hectic schedule. I can’t believe more kids don’t do their Junior Sky classes! Parents, they’d love it. I’m jealous it wasn’t around when I was a kid.
I do wish they had more weekend and daytime classes; I don’t go to the evenings ones because OMG RUSH HOUR near 400. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t have the strength to do much your first class– you’ll build up! Give it a shot.

I absolutely loved the classes that I took with Amber. My favorite part of Sky Gym is the fact that you take sequences of classes rather than just joining a class where people are at varying levels. In fact, you actually test to be able to take the next sequence of classes. No worries, though, Sky Gym offers a variety of other classes to help you build strength, stamina, and flexibility as well as learn choreography in the event that you have to repeat a sequence or just totally fall in love with aerial (which you will) and want to take as many as classes as possible!

It’s been 2 days and i’m still a little sore. So there’s a $ 10 special going on here through August. The regular price of $ 25 rivals gym payments. Kara/​Kiera, the instructor was super nice and easy to workwith. They are using the space in the wallcrawlers. There were 3 other ladies in the class. I got there 20 minutes late and luckily they were still stretching. We did 4 basic moves and because we were only using one silk we took turns. so a chunk of time was spent waiting. it’s a good thing because you get to see others do the move and it’s a bad thing because u are paying for the time. There was only 2 silks anyways. The place was pretty much empty so we weren’t disturbed by wallclimbers. For $ 10, i’m glad i did it and will go back to do the class again since i found out I have absolutely no upper body strength. and can’t carry my own weight. I got to the airplane though. I stayed after class and took some pictures (posted) of the instructor doing some amazing moves i hope i’ll get to do one day.
