Peruvian Gastronomy
History
Established in 2010.
Yrma became a chef with a blend of her grandmother’s wisdom in the kitchen, study of Peruvian history, and common cooking sense. She turned her culinary vision into reality when she and her former husband opened The Inti Restaurant in Salt Lake City in 1990. At that time, it was the first Latin (non Mexican) restaurant in Salt Lake. It had much success for the next four years.
Since the closing of The Inti Restaurant in 1994, Yrma continued to dream of reopening another Peruvian restaurant. Sixteen years later El Inti Peruvian Gastronomy was opened on August 4, 2010.

Business Owner
Yrma’s flair in the kitchen developed early with guidance from her grandmother, Christina Reeves. Little did she know that this culinary talent would be skillfully used later to start up her first restaurant overseas.
During the summers, she would seek out international and Peruvian culinary classes and workshops from various academies such as at Instituto Peruano Japonés and with the famous 1970s Peruvian cooking idol, Teresa Ocampo. However, Yrma recalls: «Although [I had professional training] I believe I learned more from the ‘gente de la calle’ (street people). They had the best kept food secrets. There was a man who I paid to teach me how to prepare the best Anticuchos (grilled skewered meat, typically beef heart).»
