We just finished our first and only year here at Sandy School of Dance(taught by Miss Anna Geyer, hence the other name Geyer School of Dance). I’ve grown up taking dance in the Portland Metro area and have never experienced a teacher who cares less about how well her students do, or lacks the basic choreography skills. This woman teaches the kids like four steps and they just do them over and over again in their routines, without any feedback that they are doing them correct. Therefore, you have the little kids all the way up to the oldest ones(high schoolers) who are copying each other and have no idea what they are doing up there. In addition to a poor attitude and poor choreography, Miss Anna also charges an arm and a leg for tuition(run out of her home and parents cannot watch), costumes, and even doubled the cost of the recital tickets to $ 10 dollars because she stated the venue went up in cost. We called the venue and it hasn’t gone up in price in several years… so dishonest of her. We also could not video or take pictures, but instead could spend $ 30 on a dvd of the recital!!! I don’t see a quality dance teacher here. All I see is greed. I would never recommend this school to anyone. If you are looking at dance schools in East Multnomah County, check out Sally Mack. She’s been there forever and has a great reputation. Don’t waste your money here at Sandy School of Dance. The only reason we finished out the year is because my daughter had friends in the class and socially we felt it was better to keep her there with them to the end. Never again though.
