Academy of International Dance

My son takes two different classes here, and the dance instructors are professional, often volunteers, and definitely knowledgeable in both the dance and how to handle children.
What’s unique about this academy are the options that are available. From polynesian dancing, to classic ballet, and much more, there are many classes available that you might not find elsewhere.
Parking and the entrance might be a little difficult to find, so give yourself plenty of time to find this place the first time.

Academy of Int’l Dance provides a much needed dance studio in the now thriving Artist Village in Downtown Santa Ana. This is an excellent studio that offers an extraodinarily wide variety of dance options for children and adults, including ballet, hip hop, ballet folklorico, flamenco, cacceti (sp?), belly dancing, middle eastern dance, salsa, cumbia and many many more. My son is learing the beautiful art of Capoeira and has been enrolled at this studio for going on two years. I have never seen any doors to any of the dance studios locked, the student to instructor ratio has never been at 30, and the staff is wonderful! Maria who works the front desk is pleasant, accomodating and quite frankly a total sweetheart. This is a non-​competitive dance studio which allows the kids to thrive in a warm, loving, safe environment without the pressures of competition schedules. There are two recitals per year — in the winter and early summer — at the reputable and historic Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton, California. These events are well organized, well attended and it provides the students a platform to showcase their talents. I don’t know why anyone would write anything negative about this studio when it does nothing but bring culture, art and community together in such a positive and beautiful space. I recommend this studio to other families who want their children to become bold and confident while learning a beautiful artform. Additionally, the studio entrance is located off the renowned Martinez Bookstore and Art, who’s owner was the 2004 recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship. The selection committee cited Martinez for «fusing the roles of marketplace and community center to inspire appreciation of literature and preserve Latino literary heritage.»
You just can’t go wrong when you combine dance, books, culture and art!
