Artists Village Apartments

So as I was thinking about possibly moving from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, my car was towed by To and Mo as I was discussing business with the leasing office. The charge is 335 $ to my car out from the tow yard for doing actual business with the artist village leasing office. In what world does this sound fair and normal as I’m trying to give Them possible business and they tow my car from the future resident parking. Do not rent here. It is not worth it. They will not have your best interest at heart which is extremely disappointing as I have been a solid rent paying resident for the past year.

I recently put in an application for a one bedroom apartment, but ended up withdrawing it because the application process was such a pain. At every step I felt like I had to prod them to interact with me. It started with the initial application submission — I submitted it on Feb 13, but didn’t hear anything by the 17 so I called and then they told me I was approved. Calls to the number listed on the website were never picked up — I did get a number to a direct line, so responsiveness did get better. I stuck with it though until they moved my move-​in date out a week.
Initially, they told me the apartment would be ready March 19^th, but the move in sheet they emailed me after approval said the 10^th. Naturally, I was excited, and even expressed this to them a couple of times (over the phone when asking a question, in person when singing lease papers)… But then they emailed me and said it was a typo. At this point I had already given notice at my old place and made most of the arrangements for the move. They did apologize, and offered to ask the current resident if they could be out sooner… But they didn’t get back to me when they said they would, and I had to call and follow up with them myself, again. They ended up telling me that they were sorry, but they made a mistake and they couldn’t do anything about it. Friendly staff, but I was less than impressed with their responsiveness and attention to detail. At that point I figured it was better to walk away than try to jump through more hoops with them. You may have a better experience, but unless your application process goes smoothly I would look elsewhere. Given the price point I expected better service.

Ants, paper thin walls you can hear all your neighbors, they’ll tow your car even when you’re parked in visitor, there’s graffiti on the mirrors all throughout, if you don’t like the sound of traffic stay away because you can hear traffic right through the paper thin old ass windows. The place is one of those hipster ghetto places that threw on some new paint and think it’s ok to charge 1500 for a small one bedroom even though the spot completely sucks. Stay far away. I want to get reimbursed for my tow fees. I was in visitor! Fucking ridiculous. I’ll be encouraging my friend to end his lease early asap.

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! The staff are NEVER in the leasing office during hours, parking sucks, and the elevators don’t work — I got stuck in one once! Plus it is sooooo hot in there it’s like you’re in a hotbox. Not a good place.

I still love living at Artist Village but now even more. They have been repainting the interior halls and lobbies and it looks so great. I am happy that they are taking the complex up a notch, makes me even more proud to call it home. I met the regional director, Marie and she is so sweet, nice and very classy, I now understand the upgrades. If you’re looking for a fun place to live downtown, look no further.

Living the past four years at the Court at Artists Village (now Artist Village Apartments) has been a happy, safe, and positive experience. The front office is responsive and friendly, especially since Lindsey became the Resident Manager this past year, and maintenance (when needed) is competent.
I highly recommend these apartment homes, centered within one of Orange County’s hottest neighborhoods, with food, nightlife and fun for everyone. Easily, the best choice of living in the area!

I recently went to view the apartments and loved the location so I began to work with them on getting a ²⁄₂ corner unit. Spoke with both Danny and Jada (I hope I have her name right). My roommate and I decided to submit an application and pay the non-​refundable application fee. While I was finishing my application I called them and they then informed me that the price for the unit had gone up. I explained to Danny that I had just spoke with Jada recently and she did not mention anything about a price increase and he immediately raised his voice and began interrupting me.
I immediately stopped my application after speaking with Danny and we will be looking elsewhere.

I live here now. I love the building, pretty modern and feels recently done (as well as well kept up).
The staff is helpful and I feel that the price is very fair for what we get once I have now lived here for a while. They are also really good about fixing things right as they go wrong both in the building and in our unit. I would recommend it to any friend for many reasons, looking FW to many more good months/​years here.

Went here to rent an apartment and asked to use the bathroom. The lady said there were no bathrooms they could let me use. Then, we went on a tour of the apartment building. While in the apartment, i asked if I can use the bathroom again. She still said, «NO». After that I was thinking this place is rude and ridiculous. I told her, «forget it I’m out of here». I can’t believe you would treat a potential customer like this. I was really offended. To top it off, i was actually gonna rent here till this happened. Rude employees just lost a rental !

This complex is unique and beautiful. Tucked away in the charming Artist Village gives this gem its namesake. All amenities included at a low price!
The Leasing Consultant, Jayda Palega was extremely helpful, highly professional, and friendly.
I highly recommend that you visit this community when looking to lease your new home!

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Stay away from this place. Major issues are; very little parking spots for guests, water heater randomly gets turned off almost monthly. The building has no smoking signs everywhere, yet the halls usually always smell like someone smoked some of that good stuff.
Just stay away, it’s not worth the price; I don’t care how close it is to DTSA

My lease was for one year and ive always loved living here! Lindsay and Jayda are the best!!! apartment managers that I’ve ever had. Extremely friendly and so funny. They truly care about the residents that are living here.
My apartment was extremely clean and the walls are like so sound proof I never have problems with my neighbors being loud I never heard them (and they were party people)
when I first moved in everything worked perfectly fine lights sink toilet laundry dyer etc and I’ve never had any problems with bugs or rats (people who had those problems below are probably just dirty people that don’t clean their underwear hHahahaha)
If there was anything dirty anywhere like little pieces of trash like wrappers in the hallway it would be cleaned up right away! NEVER EVER have seen roaches or flies not once since I’ve lived year
Lindsay and Jayda have always given at least a week notice to everyone, posted signs everywhere, every time they had to shut down the water to fix a leak or something.
Parking was great as well! they were there for me when I needed storage room above my parking space, always gave me parking passes or gave me a phone number to reserve my guest a parking space
and they even give out so many treats they have the wine and cheese parties and they go out of their way to give us FREE breakfast like bagels and cream cheese with juice
When I was at work during the week if I ever had to call for a favor or let them know about anything they were extremely reliable one phone call away

truly recommend living here plus everything is near the 5 freeway gas stations local pharmacies grocery stores fast food
Etc anything literally and if you are a party person there are clubs and bars near here too

Has the good and bad
They tuck the gym out with out asking or giving a notice, Big rats running at night in side the Air conditioning system .
Floating by the underground parking lot when it rains
Breaking in to cars and stolen items from the storage .
They don’t have many visitors parking available always occupied .
The place is located in a nice Area, with bars restaurants and many places to go, and shop
I like the kitchen appliances the staff who works there help when I need them.

Okay, I am not a resident here or never have lived here before. Then why am I writing reviews for this place? Because I got some impression that I would like to mention about this place.
First time I made a visit was back in September 2014. I was looking for a place to move in ASAP back then because a person I was supposed to be roommates with suddenly had some medical issues and had to move back to her country. I was looking at as many apartments as I could, and eventually I came to this place. When I showed up, nobody was at leasing office. I didn’t make an appointment so I decided to wait. I waited for 30 min and finally a lady showed up. I asked her if I could take a look and told them I had to move within a week and understand if they wouldn’t have anything available at the moment. I also told them I still would like to take a look regardless just to get an idea because I definitely would like to consider moving in possibly in near future. She just told me there is no availability that soon and they got no room to show me. So she pretty much kicked me out of the leasing office, and she didn’t even give me her business card or any information regarding the apartment. I felt like I was mistreated and the lady in the leasing office was very unprofessional, but I had a lot of other things going on in my mind so it didn’t bother me as much.
Now, I’m looking for an apartment again because I ended up moving out of the area temporarily and the location is a bit too inconvenient for me. So I decided to come back here to take a look. This time I made an appointment ahead of the time so there was a staff, different lady this time, waiting for me and she greeted me as soon as I came in. She showed me a model room, which was located literately right by the leasing office. I told the lady about my first visit in September, then she was surprised that I was told there was no room to be shown. Since I took a look in advance, she advised me to come back later because she couldn’t find out which room would be available around the time I’m moving. But she didn’t show me any amenities at the apartment, which was another disappointment.
Based on the level of their professionalism and reviews from residents, I decided to take this place off my list.

We had a sewage back up that overflowed from our upstairs neighbors into our kitchen and living room resulting in a horrible mold smell. Even though there was an inch of water that covered the floor and ultimately damaged almost all of our things in the kitchen, the office told me they are not responsible for any personal damage to my property and to contact our rentals insurance which then asked for a $ 500 deductible. We have had bugs and cockroaches infesting our apartment and our entire floor smells like either weed, an overwhelming smell of cleaning supplies, or bug repellent. I have never lived in a place this disgusting before ever and it’s severely disappointing … I’m going to contact the health department at this point because there is no way at this point they can compensate us nor do they want to.

I am not one to complain, but I feel the need to let prospective residents know how it is to live here.
It is conveniently located to nice bars and activities in the downtown Santa Ana area. BUT parking is really an issue. I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with my boyfriend and only one space is allotted for 1 bedrooms. Keep in mind, they changed the visitors parking rules so you could only park in those specific spots if you had a parking permit and a max of 3 days. My boyfriend had to park in the surrounding neighborhood and walk home everyday! There were TONS of extra parking space in the garage but management does not allow you to buy a space or even rent out a space!
The staff was nice, yes. But highly unprofessional with keeping in compliance with business hours. They should be open until 6:00 pm on weekdays so my boyfriend rushed home, parked in the sketch neighborhood, to make it before they closed the office. He arrived at 5:45pm! They had a closed door sign and he knocked because he saw a light on in the office. NO ONE CAME. A maintenance guy asked him if he needed something and mentioned they should be open so he opened the door for him and low and behold there someone is from the lessons staff. Their excuse, «oh I didn’t hear the knocking on the door.» And let me tell you how small that office is. There is NO way you couldn’t hear a knock on the door, even if a toddler knocked very lightly!
The unit was a nice sound, however, carpet was 100% dingy and there was till dirt from the previous renters. The kitchen is so small, everything has to be placed on the counters. There is no drawer space and the garbage disposal is a hot mess — do not rely on it. The ceilings were low and there is no closet or storage space.
The complex, very nice because it is enclosed, like a hotel. Ventilation was pretty poor, however. Halls smelled of garbage. Plus our neighbor was very careless, almost caused a dang fire and the smoke smell lasted for a good week and a half! The elevators are very slow and there are cockroaches in the stairwells. Beware of where you step!
Overall, I gave this place a 2 out of 5 stars because it was a convenient space to live for both my boyfriend and me. We were very glad to only have signed a 6 month lease, even though we almost broke the lease twice because of our frustrations with this place.
Really do your research. It was a little overpriced for what they really had to offer. We moved further south to irvine and couldn’t be happier.

DO NOT MOVE HERE. We moved in at the beginning of August. As much as we love it we’ve had problem after problem. So much so the leasing office knows us well. We were told if we picked out the paint and paid an extra fee they would paint it the color we chose before we moved in. Turns out that was not the case, so we had to paint it ourselves. We moved in when it was hot and turns out the AC didn’t work. It was in the middle of a heat wave with temps into the 100’s. We wanted a 1^st floor apt, we got one, had we known it was next to the trash room we woulda waited. They used to leave the doors open and our apt would smell like the dumpster. They only have the doors open when needed so that got better. But every morning at 8 am we would hear the maintenance guys opening the trash room up. Ac took awhile to fix but they did it as fast as they could. We have seen a several cockroaches in our apt and outside in the hallways and outside of the building.
Parking is ridiculous, we almost sold my car because it was so much of a hassle. We were told to get a spot at one of the garages for 50 $ a month. It says no overnight parking and they lock the gate at night, so if there is an emergency you’re screwed. They have plenty of reserves spots for the staff. We had suggested they park in the garages across the street and rent out those spots to residents. We were told by the office manager «that’s inconvenient to them» (probably talking about herself. Luckily Jayda did some magic and managed to get us an extra spot (only after my car was towed). When my car did get towed they DESTROYED it. It’s 4 wheel drive and needs a flat bed tow, or use of the dollies, neither were used and it ruined the transmission and caused so many other problems it wasn’t safe to drive and had to get a new one. So 300 $ PLUS a new car. Often the trash compactor gets stuck and makes a thudding sound every 45 seconds with the continued hum noise. It’s not noticeable during the day but at night it’s so loud you can’t sleep.
And for the big finale… RATS huge rats. For months we have heard them in the walls. Started about 2 months after we moved in. You can hear them in the vent and the walls. Also in the kitchen it sounds like they nested in between the cupboards where we can’t get to it but they can. Mostly late at night they are super loud, it can sound like a heard of them. Last week we saw 2 in the hallway. They had chewed a hole through the trash room. We have a moral dilemma about it since we are vegetarians. They had pest control come out the day after we sent the leasing office the video. This has been a miserable experience and can’t wait til we can move.

My friends and I were in the area Sunday afternoon and wanted to check out the new restaurant that just opened up nearby and have lunch.
We found a parking spot near the leasing office and thought it was ok to park since the spot that we parked had no sign whatsoever. The spots next to the parking spot said leasing office guest parking and violators will be towed.
We went to lunch for a bit and came back to no car. We had to talk to the apartment leasing office and they denied they called the towing company and that the towing company drives by and tows violators.
Long story short don’t ever park here even though there is no sign saying you can’t. The apartment complex should put a sign on the parking spot but I’m sure they’re getting a cut of the towing fees. $ 300 geez…

I lived here for about a year and a half, and there were definitely pros and cons to this place.
Pros:
Apartment layout was awesome, big living room, good bedroom size, and walk in closet, but teeny tiny kitchen with no cabinet space
Washer and Dryer in unit
Central Air when it worked, there was a time and during a particular heat wave my AC didn’t work and it was a 3 day weekend so no one can get out to my place for a few days but the office did provide a fan for my place till they could get someone to fix it
Maintenance staff was always super nice and fixed things within 24 hours after I made a request
Location was great, I was in the middle of great restaurants and bars AND if there was some sort of festival going on all I had to do was walk downstairs
Office staff for the most part they were pretty cool but I did come across someone (don’t know her name, she was new) when I was putting in my notice and she seemed bothered to have to deal with people that day.
Dog friendly!
Cons:
Parking, there’s none so when they say there’s visitor parking that’s straight BS if your guest was able to find guest parking it was like finding $ 100 in your pocket
The hallways smelled, and it’s only because there’s no proper ventilation so you can smell anything and everything coming out of people’s apartments
Roaches, yes I found a few
Noise, granted I get it, the area is downtown near bars but there’s no reason for there to be that much noise on a Tuesday at 3am
Elevators are slow
Fire Alarm, I swear it off at least once a month and at God awful hours and sometimes could’ve taken as long as 30 mins to get turned off
Location (again) traffic could be a pain especially on days where there is an event going on and there are a lot of homeless people around, they leave you alone but I never felt safe walking alone at night in my own neighborhood
All in all I loved my apartment but I would’ve loved it more in a different area, I would not recommend this place to anyone if they asked.
