De La Peña Eye Clinic

So I called today to make an appointment and I was directed to a different location as this one was closed. The girl on the phone was super rude and when I asked her what days were open and gave her my possible time when I could come in she just kept saying no and not offering any other available appointments, after I said ok I’ll call the Santa Ana location tomorrow she hung up! I wasn’t even done with my sentence! That was definitely cunty.
Like most other reviews on here I have also had a hard time getting them to give me my prescription for my contact s; they always act like they forget and the one time I did get it was cause the lady wrote it to me and slipped it on the table as if it were a huge secret! Lol I just can’t
I’ve been coming to this location since I was a teen in 98 and I like that some of the staff still works there; they’ve always been very helpful but yeah. a little sketch on the prescription part not to mention whoever answered the phone at this other location (I’m assuming its monte bello) needs some training on what proper customer service is.

Went in for an eye check up and was out of there in no time, picked out some glasses, paid and was out of there. Great optometrist and workers

I went to de la Pena a year ago for an eye exam and for a contact lens fitting. By far the WORST experience ever-​I would rather go to Lenscrafters and pay extra and at least know that I am receiving good customer service and the staff is following the laws of optometry.
1) Part of their eye exam includes pupil dilation. I was never told that was part of the procedure and was not even given the option of accepting or waiving my eyes to be dilated.
2) Doctor Ledesma finally sees me. The general eye exam is conducted. I ask him questions about my eyes-​everything is going fine. I payed for the exam. And I schedule another appointment for my contact lens fitting. Here’s the problem: The doctor REFUSES to give me my spectacle lens prescription. I ask him for my prescription and he straight up tells me, «No, because then you are going to go to Costco and buy glasses there.»
What the hell? Ok, first, I don’t even shop at Costco and had no clue they have an optometry. Second, AS A CONSUMER I HAVE THE RIGHT TO SHOP WITH THIRD PARTIES. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW FOR A DOCTOR TO WITHHOLD YOUR PRESCRIPTION AND CONDITION THE AVAILABILITY OF YOUR PRESCRIPTION (as stated in Chapter 5.4 section 2541.2 in the CA Laws and Regulations Related to the Practices of Optometry).
3) So I payed for my exam, and left without my glasses prescription. But I rescheduled for my contact lens fitting. IT IS THE LAW, THAT A PRESCRIPTION BE PROVIDED AFTER A GENERAL EYE EXAM AND SERVICES HAVE BEEN PAID FOR.
4) When I am given the contact lenses to try out for a week, this assistant named Mary has the balls to accuse me of stealing! I guess she had spaced out and misplaced the empty containers for the contact lenses that I just had put on and asked me if I had took them. I told her that I hadn’t, and she insisted «are you sure you didn’t put them in your purse?» (WTF???)
Fuck this place! When I returned to conclude my contact lens fitting, I was given both my prescriptions for glasses and contacts.
A year later – and I am still being fucked over by this clinic.
I recently checked my prescription for glasses because I wanted to buy some new frames elsewhere. For both prescriptions I was given a 1-​year expiration. That is bullshit and malpractice! The law provided by the Federal Trade Commission established an expiration date for optometrists to follow, which is ONE YEAR PRESCRIPTION FOR CONTACT LENSES AND TWO YEARS PRESCRIPTION FOR SPECTACLE GLASSES.
The California State Board of Optometry should fuckin sue this guy for malpractice y por ratero.

I’ve been coming to this place for the past 15years. I recommend this place to everyone. Dr’s are accurate, they make you feel comfortable they explain what’s going on with your vision and school you on what you need to know. I’ve been to other eye dr’s and they always seem to give me more or less prescribe lenses. Here I always come out happy with what they prescribe, they have a lot of nice selections to choose from plus a lot of designer ones as well.

Not coming back.

I went in to they eye doctor to get a copy of my prescription. I first called to let them know I was stopping by. When I went in I was treated like if I hadn’t called. I felt as if I was taking up there time and the place was completely empty. They lied to me on the phone about my prescription. They said it had expired. When I still had a few days left. They just wanted to get money out of me. I will never return here. They lack customer service, and work ethics.

I’ve been battling cataracts for over 2.5 years. My wife got tired of me complaining about not being able to see real well out of my right eye and called the De La Pena Clinic. I went in for my first visit a week ago Monday and had surgery on Thursday last week. There is not enough space here to fully express my gratitude to all the staff in both Santa Ana and Montebello where the surgery was performed. They all made me feel comfortable and the proceedure couldn’t have gone better. I’m truly grateful for the professionalism and true kindness of everyone that I had the good fortune to come in contact with at both clinics. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for restoring my eyesight. You are all true miracle workers!

Best choice, couldn’t ask for a better doctor. Has corrected my vision and now many friends and family members I’ve recommended since then as well. Dr. is extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and cares to take the time to answer my questions and explain everything. Fair prices, staff very helpful and informative. Great find.

scheduling an appointment was easy and the nurses were very nice and helpful. The optometrist was patient with me bc I wasn’t sure if «a or B» looked better some of the time. My glasses were stylish and not overpriced and felt that my care was great! The office was freeway close which made getting there easy.

I brought my mom here for an eye exam. The nurses were friendly and the process was quick. I was a bit disappointed when they told us we had to come back for a 2^nd opinion on cataract surgery. If the doctor can’t figure it out on the first visit, something is wrong! I know that there is a difference between an optometrist and ophthalmologist but it seemed a bit questionable. Needless to say we didn’t come back. They also need to tell the auto repair shop that is located next door to fix their plumbing. When we walked by we almost threw up, not the best feeling to get right before you go to the doctor.

Great eye doctors sounds ghetto but isn’t my kaiser insurance wouldn’t cover the glasses so I went here got some oakleys only paid 35 bucks extra great!!!
