IKON AVEDA Salon & Spa

So sad! Boarded up. They were open during the holidays and it looked like the salon portion of the store was really starting to take off. Wonder what happened? Guess Santa Ana wasn’t quite ready for an Aveda. It sucks, because without product close by, I won’t go out of my way to buy their lines.

I got the best hair color I’ve ever had at the Santa Ana location of Ikon… and I have been coloring my hair at Aveda salons all over CA and Boston. My stylist listened to my concerns, selected great choices, and guided my usual indecision to something that flattered my skin tone and fits with my «lifestyle.» If you are considering natural-​based hair color, I recommend this salon over the other Aveda salons, hands down!

I love Aveda and usually you can expect a high standard when you go to an Aveda salon. The girl I had cut my hair did an average job. For a $ 90 haircut, I was expecting to love it. Granted I only wanted a trim, but I thought she would take more than 20 minutes. I could have gone to cost cutters for that. I just moved here and my former stylist took at least an hour with me. This one squeezed me in between a color and pulled my hair in two angles and was done. She did a nice round brush blowout though, not good enough for $ 90 however.

I booked an appt. For new years eve. I was greeted by the receptionist and offered tea/​water as usual. Diana did my curls. I asked if she could use the wand instead of the curling iron but she didn’t have a wand to use. Last time I was there Andrea (no longer works there) used a wand and OMG my hair looked gorgeous and lasted all night. Diana did a good job with the curls, but my fav is when they use the wand. Diana was friendly and gave a nice scalp massage. Debating if to go back for a haircut with her. The price was 45.00– included hair wash.

Worst experience ever. Booked an appointment for a Groupon deal for full highlights and the stylist refused to do my hair because I wanted something more similar to ombré. I drove 30 minutes just for her to tell me she couldnt honor my Groupon deal and quoted me nearly $ 300 on top of the $ 90 I paid online. Ridic! She wasnt even sentimental at all and even gave me attitude. These people are not good news. If you want more clients why not bargain with them instead of telling them theres nothing you can do? I will gladly take my ass somewhere else who will welcome me with open arms.

I went here on my birthday right before my birthday party. I got a deal on groupon so I decided to try this salon. I usually do not try new places always afraid they would cut my hair too short or mess it up.
I was very enlightened by their service. They sat me down and asked me about my hair which was very interesting to me. I never had anyone ask me that at a salon before. Then she gave me advise and offered a complimentary head massage which was soothing and relaxing.
My deal also came with a conditioning treatment which really made my hair softer and shinier. Then i had my hair cut and she did it exactly the way I wanted it. I was so impressed. She also styled it beautifully.
After this amazing treatment I would never want to go back to my usual stylist. Im an Aveda customer now. the employees really seem like they love their job and they do it with passion.
Truly loved my experience and I am definitely going back to get my hair colored very soon. :) I recommend this place so both men an women. you will LOVE it!

Worst hair salon I have ever tried out. Taylor did not know what she was doing at all. I showed her at least 3 pictures of how I wanted my up-​do but all she ended up doing was blow dry my hair terribly and stick a few bobby pins on the side… And charged me 85 $ for messing up my hair basically. Too expensive and non-​experienced hair dresser:/

The Ikon Salon at Mainplace is great… friendly, easy to get to, and very clean and comfortable. However, the real reason I go there is Mike. I have followed him there from other salons, and I would follow him anywhere. I am in my mid-50’s with crazy, curly, thick hair. Very few people can make it look good. When I first found Mike over a year ago, it was in bad shape… overly processed, overly texturized, and very damaged. A horrible short cut and a very dark ugly color. I left the salon with a game plan of where I wanted my hair to be in a year, and Mike told me «I can make you feel and look a LOT better today, but it will take a year to get where you really want to be… long, healthy, blond.» Mike made true to his promise. I did look so much better immediately (walked in feeling ugly, walked out feeling young and cute) but now, a year later, it’s amazing! I get compliments on my hair all the time. My family and friends tell me this is the best I have EVER looked. I can wear it curly or straight, it is healthy, long (and still growing) and blond.
In addition to being the best stylist I have ever gone to (and trust me… I have tried all the top OC salons) Mike is also just a very nice, kind person. I look forward to getting my hair done because he is a pleasure to spend time with. It is relaxing experience and I leave feeling happy, relaxed, and pretty. Every. Single. Time.

I always had to leave town to find my Aveda products, but was just ecstatic to find that a new store opened up at Main Place! I love that I can drop by more often to pick up supplies and take advantage of sipping some specialty tea and a complimentary hand massage with Stress-​Fix! I have yet to schedule for their salon services, but I see that many patrons are raving about them!

MIKE SAVED MY SOUL! And MY HAIR!
I’ve been scrambling through Orange County to find me, MY Hair Sylist, Hair dresser, Hair PRO. Whatever you’d like to call it. I used to have a great hair lady, which decided doing drugs is ok and cutting my hair under the influence. Then I went search up and down OC, tried several from the most expensive places, the highest rated in Unilocal,including specifically asked for certain peoplwants art from consultations, and also at the end let them butchered my hair!
My hair is a very nice long, silky black Asian hair, straight as hell. All I need is a good amount of conditioner every other day and I am good to go! I don’t own hair brush, hair dryer. None. Very easy to maintain. Just need trims once in a while. But some «supposedly» great people had made me have a helmet haircut and including insulted my hair! «I can’t do anything with your hair!!»
I met my friends at Genki’s for lunch and decided to have a little stroll afterwards at the mall. Then I saw this salon, empty. And I thought it’s time to take off my hair clips that had been clipping my bangs up since I am so vet up with my journey to find MY hairstylist! I went in askin about just a simple bangs trim. Mike said he’ll do it for $ 10! So I stayed. Before we start, I chatted with Mike about my situation.
He asked me what is my goal look with my hair. I simply told him my goal, he then came up with game plan, solution and remedy for the remaining my butchered hair! Even one time i experienced having a MULLET!!! That wasn’t ok.
And MIKE changed my perception of my hair and he made me have more confident and appreciate my hair once again! So I agreed with his regular price charge and sooo glad to know that he is the «Master» at this salon!
He conditioned my hair, gave me a cut, and I can see that he loooves what he does! He cut my hair with passion and his hands are sooo light with his scissors, hair dryer and brushes! He knows his tools AND hair products! I can see his excitement when he did my hair! It was a relieve to met him! And his «Master» title is very humble looking at the way he treated my hair.
I am definitely coming back! Every 2 months! For sure! Never again do I have to salon shop ever again! I found my hair’s match! Cannot thank Mike enough!
PS: right away referred Mike to one of my girl friends who wants to chopped her long hair. I really wished that I did my wedding hair with Mike. Regrets regrets regrets!

I got my hair done here at Aveda & my experience was wonderful! Taylor was my stylist & I absolutely loved what she did with my hair! She was great & I will definitely come back to Aveda again & request Taylor. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience at Aveda & Taylors excellent customer service. :)

I love Aveda… all natural ingredients and they’ve always got the best hairstylists, and great hair & skin products. It is a bit pricey, but so much more healthy for you than all those other products with synthetic chemicals & dyes.
Their face powder is great… no artificial ingredients… not too many shades available, but I actually mix two together with my brush to get the right tone for me. It’s a better alternative than using some cheap crap with cheap crap ingredients that your skin will totally & completely absorb… not healthy… sometimes dangerously toxic.
I also love their salt scrubs, lotions and shampoos. If you sign up, you’ll get a mailer on your B-​day for a free $ 25 valued gift. You get to choose from a few things. If you choose the salt scrub, they will mix it for you right there… you get to choose the scent! As I said… I LOVE Aveda!!!
