We came in today to get a fish for my niece and when we got home we open the fish tank and one of the glasses is broken and missing the LED light… The lady had told us we could only have the goldfish in the bag for 30 min. The most so we had no other choice but to put them in the tank for now. We called so someone can help us out with our problem and when they tried to get a hold of the GM from the store they were not answering. So the guy gave us the number to call them, we’ve called them over 6 times and they did not answer at all. I am very disappointed with this store. Do not come here expecting to get good service let me just tell you that. So we just had to call corporate and deal with it.

Bought a hamster from this location & he died a couple days later :(
I bought everything he needed he had shelter, food, water etc.
Oh & when I bought him the associates did not even ask if I had a cage for him or what kind of food I should get I didn’t get a care sheet. I didn’t need it because I’ve had hamsters before. BUT imagine I was a new owner that didn’t know anything about hamsters! They gave me no information whatsoever, they just handed me a sick hamster.

Worst customer experience here. I called about a Super Large Doggie Door, in which a girl named Anna said they did. So I drove down to grab it, and when I got to the section there was no door. So I went to the front cashier and told her my experience with calling the store. The cashier said she didn’t know. I was giving them the benefit of the doubt and said is this your number… Yes it’s there number… Make the long story short. Who ever is the franchise owner needs to be better at hand picking your employees who work for you. Place sucks!!!

just disappointed that they already lock the doors 10 minutes before closing. The male worker Angel let the customers before me walked in 3 minutes before while I was waiting for parking. I’m still going to shop here but just had to write this bad review. I already let them know it would only be one quick purchase but I guess they really wanted to close up and go home early.

Recently went to petco to get more fishes for our fish tank at home. We stayed there waiting for about an hour or even more, for them to come out and assist us. We keep going to ask for help to the register but there wasnt enough people to come out and help. We finally got home after a while and by the next morning all the new fishes were dead… long story short, they need more staff.

Terrible service. The only reason why I come here is because it is convenient but I would much rather drive further to go to petsmart in fountain valley. I especially do not like the attitude of one employee here who is slim, Hispanic/​Latina, and is usually at the cash register. She is extremely rude all of the times I’ve been here. I do not appreciate such rude customer service.

Horrible service, I also overheard the manager (tall white guy with short hair) bad mouthing some of his employess to another co worker. Ive been coming here for years and customer service has gone down drastically since some the old workers arent there anymore. It takes forever to get crickets and its always because the same employee (mexican girl with horrible accent), Theres never anyone around to help but theres always the same white girl standing around lolly gagging avoiding customers. This store is horrible some of the worst shopping experiences ive ever had.

I lost a family reptile today. Coming to my nearest Petco I was very surprised. Not only was the entire staff very kind and understanding, Shane the manager was patient, knowledgeable, and sympathetic. He let me know the frustration with the store I bought it from (Petsmart) because they couldn’t help me because it was after the «14 day period» of purchase. As well as calling the store and having them basically tell me the batch of bearded dragons I bought all died from illness, but sold them anyway. I purchased a dragon from Petco, but at ease seeing as all the dragons they had looked well fed and healthy. I would recommend any of my family or friends to go to this location, thank you so much

Terrible experience with the grooming service here. I took my dog here with a coupon for 20% off a basic cut, and 3 of the 4 groomers there immediate tried to tell me that I HAVE to get the Add-​3 extra service to get the discount, even though that is complete false. I pointed out that nowhere in the fine print does it say that, and after much arguing, the manager said she can «make an exception» this one time only. What a load of BS.
Then I came to get my dog 2 hours later, and the cut was awful as well. The hair on his body was patchy, hair around his mouth was cut on one side but not the other, and his ears were untouched.
Never coming back here again. I will be opting for the Bison Petco next time.

This review is long overdue and it is for DOG TRAINING with Kylie ONLY. I rarely purchase anything here because I find PetCo to be over-​priced, even with coupons. Plus, I prefer to support smaller businesses whenever possible, but Kylie was an exception.
I walked into this PetCo a few months ago with my puppy for the purposes of socialization (exposing him to new places, sights, sounds, people, dogs, etc.) when we met Kylie. She introduced herself and offered to help us with anything we needed in the store. I thanked her and then continued to train with my puppy, but I ended up speaking with her again before I left. I was quite impressed with her knowledge about dog training, which is in stark contrast to most trainers at chain Big Box stores…
I ended up coming back to take her class and she was great! Lots of personal attention due to small classes (I think it’s usually 3 – 4 dogs; mine had 3), and great tips on ways to socialize your puppy and set up training sessions so that your puppy will listen to you anywhere and everywhere. She was also very understanding when he started having a lot of frustrating behaviors during puppy adolescence, and she helped me get through it all. Not only is my pup well behaved, but my pup LOVES his Auntie Kylie!

They are always short handed. Takes forever to get crickets. They aren’t very friendly either. Alicia is the one who «helped» me, waited in the front of the store for a while for my crickets and asked her if she could please call on the intercom again for my crickets. She said sure and continued to do what she was doing, customer after customer. They used to have such a nice staff working there and now I’ve ran into nothing but problems. Worth it to drive farther than my home just to avoid these rude workers.

Love dropping in to buy my 3 girls treats, clothes and anything fun that stands out. I have always received great service here.

I came in today to purchase a vest for my dog using a merchandise card. Let me tell you a back story on this damn merchandise card:
Bought something on
a month ago that didn’t fit my dog so I opted to return in store. Took the special «return to store» receipt to this store and realized that I didn’t have the card that I used to buy online, so I took the refund in merchandise card form– which was ok. I buy stuff from petco all the time.
Back to today: Went to use my merchandise card to pay for the vest. The young girl helping me had no luck swiping it at the register. Called a supervisor to help. The nightmare started with him.
SEAN was rude and defensive from the very beginning, as if he owned freakin Petco. After 4 – 5 attempts at swiping the card, to no avail, he somehow managed to make ME feel like this was all my fault. First he pointed out a discrepancy on the card I had (it had a black mark on the back that the rest of the card didn’t have. But this mark was clearly a manufacture mark because it looked like a straight line that went across some of the wording). Um, excuse me? What does that have to do with me? How is this my fault? I can’t help the state the card was given me.
Then he proceeded to complain about how difficult it was working with these merchandise cards because they were different from gift cards. He then continued by saying in so many words, «Well, you know if you had returned that item with a receipt then you wouldn’t be having this problem with the merchandise cards. We use these instead of the gift cards as a precaution when people don’t bring in receipts.»
WHAT the F — !!! I’m seething at this point and told him, «First of all, it shouldn’t matter how I got hold of this merchandise card. It’s not MY problem it’s not working, it’s YOURS. Second, I DID have a receipt for my return, I just didn’t have the card with me,» Then he had the gall to interrupt me and, I kid you not, said, «See? You didn’t have the card. If you had brought the card, you wouldn’t have been given this card,» I literally couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I thought for a second that I was being punked.
He then gave me this whole talk about having to call corporate to get the balance transferred to another card, blah blah. He left for 10 minutes, came back and took me to another register. At that register, he proceeded to tell me that if it doesn’t work on this register, I’ll have to call corporate to clear this up. I couldn’t take it anymore. I told him, «It shouldn’t be my responsibility, as the customer, to call corporate because of a faulty card given to me by a petco employee. It should be your problem to solve.» In which he answered, «It’s not my problem. It’s your problem with corporate.» This went back and forth for a minute.
He FINALLY swiped the card and… voila! It worked. He turned to me and said, «See, all we needed to do was go to another register, no need to be upset.» I WANTED TO FREAKIN KILL HIM AND RIP HIS FACE OFF. After a few choice words from me, I asked to see a manager.
And you know what he said? «Well, I’m also one of the managers, so you can speak with me.»
… Me, «NO. I want to speak with another manager or the head manager».
Michael, another manager, stepped in to talk to me and he was very apologetic.
But still, never coming back here EVER again. You can bet your ass I’ll be calling corporate and that is to file a complaint. Sean should be fired. PERIOD. There is no reason why he should be working with customers let alone being in a managerial position.
Sean is a thin, white man with glasses and a beard. Stay clear of him. I should have known he was trouble the moment he came to help. Why, you ask? As he was starting to help me, he interrupted an interaction at the next register between a customer and that cashier. The woman was complaining that she had spent hundreds of $$$ at petco and have never seen a reward despite putting in her rewards number every time she purchased. Sean jumped in and actually said, «Well you probably didn’t set up the account online correctly, that’s why.» Really? Is that really necessary to add? How is that helpful?
My utter disdain for this human being stems from the fact that I’ve worked in customer service all my life and I would NEVER think to treat anyone this way, let alone a customer.

My fiancé and I were on S Bristol celebrating the 2^nd anniversary of our first date and absolutely had to stock up on the World’s Best Cat Liter. The cat box changing was an imperative. Using my Unilocal search on the Unilocal app, I was able to find this wonderful location just a block and half away from where we already were for lunch.

It was super easy to locate within its mall and find parking. We walked in, grabbing a sparkling clean shopping cart on our way in. I’ve been to other Petco store locations, but this one really stands out. The cat food supply and liter area was HUGE. (I photographed a number of the brands, but even so, there were MORE.) My rescue cat is less active than when she was on her own, so after 18 mths of domesticity, she needs a low calorie cat food. I’ve been looking for months for a Weight Control option of cat food to no avail. They have a Perfect (Purrfect!) Weight mix which I selected as well as 2 bags of the WBCL. This store had the basic, the multiple cats blend, and a lavender scented mix.
Just as I was turning the corner, ready to head to the check out, I saw their pet collar selection. The one near me seems to only have dog collars. They had several break away collars in sturdy leather. I selected one.
A wonderful shopping and stocking up experience here today. If only this venue was closer to our home, I’d shop here regularly. Would definitely shop here again when we are nearby.

This is my favorite location. Ive never expected much from petco other than it being where I go buy my dog stuff… but this is the only location Ive been too that every single member of the staff appears to be an animal lover and goes out of their way to pet all the pups that come in. Now i take my dog here as if it were disneyland to her when im bored instead of only going when she needs food or bones.

This review is for the Aquarium section of this Petco.
A staff member by the name of Matt greeted me and my friend upon entering his «aquatics section» when we were looking for Betta fish, and kindly directed me to their selections.
i had a lot of questions concerning my tank;
the plants i wanted to grow in it, the lighting, fertilizer, heater, whether or not i needed a filter. etcetc
He was super acknowledgeable with everything, very helpful, maintained easygoing conversations, and went above and beyond what any staff at a Petco would normally do.
i could tell he def. had a passion for his work, and thats a rarity to find!
i have visited so many petcos in so many different cities, looking for the «perfect betta» for me…
although i did not find the fish of my calling,
i did find an amazing staff member, that has put this petco on the top of my list for any of my «future» fish needs!

Came in today to get some special treats for my dogs birthday. This location is close to my work and I’ve only been here once before. The treat aisle was non existent, most toys have stuffing (which me dog destroys in minutes), their bully sticks were hollow on the inside, and the frozen treat had freezer burned. Not to mention an employee put her leftover shake in the freezer. The display freezer where customers shop! After her break she went to retrieve it and saw me notice. She laughed and walked to her register drinking it. The manager must not have noticed, as he was busy arguing with a patron. Not assisting or calmly fixing her issue. Arguing with a sarcastic attitude.
I’ll stick to Petsmart from now on 17^th and Tustin from now on.

This Petco is just fine. I had a coupon and I needed to get cat food so this was the place to go since I was in the area.
This location was clean and pretty basic. Service was nice. It was pretty easy for me to get the food and get going.
If I’m in the area, I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again for sure.

I usually get my pet stuff from other stores but sometimes I can’t find what I’m looking for so hence the reason to be here.
The store is a decent size with lots of things to keep your pets fed, preoccupied and healthy. I was looking for cat scratch post in case I couldn’t dig her old one out of storage and ran into a sales guy. I was going to avoid him but we ended up talking for a good 30 minutes about all kinds of things cat related and he actually had some good advice. Didn’t try to sell me on anything either and also recommended a cheap vet with great reviews on Unilocal.Pretty awesome.
Overall, the store is well kept. Customer service is decent enough. Don’t think I’ll return though because big pet stores aren’t really my thing but it’s good for what it is.

I like this is a medium size petco that have a lot of fish options, animals and product space. Also good location that is next to trader Joes.
Have everything I was looking for my baby bunnies, plus some more that I wasn’t looking for but bought– like corns to make pop corns. Pretty cute, didn’t know bunnies eat pop corns too. But very limited brands for bunny food mostly from kaytee. Enough selection and stock for everything.
Not sure how grooming or customer service and other departments are like. But happy with the choices they offer for fish and bunnies. Cashier seems friendly.
