Or mission is to help improve the lives of people living with epilepsy by providing resources, information, support and empowerment through education and advocacy in the prevention, control and cure of epilepsy.
One of our main goals is to raise funds to pay for trained seizure alert/response dogs that may be able to detect when someone is about to have a seizure and respond after a seizure by getting help or breaking a fall. These dogs also make it possible for the person with epilepsy to live a more independent lifestyle.
Epilepsy will affect every person (directly or indirectly) at some point during their life. There are approximately 32,000 people in Orange County, California affected by epilepsy and nearly 400,000 people with epilepsy and seizure disorders throughout the state of California. Worldwide, there are as many as fifty million people living with epilepsy.
History
Established in 2010.
The Epilepsy Connection, Inc. was officially founded by David Julian in November, 2010 as a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders. The organization is one man’s vision to provide support and information to those suffering from these neurological disorders.
With the introduction of Facebook, David decided that this would be a great opportunity to reach out to people and start a community where everyone affected by epilepsy could share stories, ask questions, find support groups and build a network of friends. This led to the first of two groups that culminated into what is now the Epilepsy Connection.
David, who suffers from epilepsy himself, works tirelessly in his efforts to improve the lives of people with epilepsy and empower them with knowledge, confidence and independence. It has been a lifelong goal of the founders of this organization to become a 501©(3) non-profit organization. Donations will be applied toward: assista
