These are nice people and they do offer low prices for their parts and labor, but these are self taught mechanics with a lot of personal issues, both of which seem to get in the way of doing efficient work. If you already know what is wrong with your car and just need a simple replacement, this may be the place for you. But if you require any kind of real diagnostic, you will receive a lot of false starts and likely end up undertaking a lot of needless repairs. In my case, even a simple replacement snowballed into further repairs, because they didn’t do it right the first time.

After getting Groupon involved, I finally got my car back. There was a family emergency but their handling of the business leaves much to be desired.

So we were finishing up my daughter’s college tour through California and on our way back toward the Bay Area. The last college on the list is UC Santa Barbara. We were sailing along, less than 20 miles from our hotel when our car decides not to cooperate, surprising since we had it serviced before we hit the road. The car abruptly loss significant power and I pulled to the side of the road. After I finished panicking, I called AAA for a tow and consulted Unilocal for help in the area. I chose Import Motor Geeks because of the other reviews I saw, and was told by the very friendly, Koko that we could get a free diagnostic to find out what the problem was on a with our Mercedes and to have the car towed to their shop. Boy were we lucky Bo and Koko are the BOMB, They were awesome. They gave us rides to and from the college tour so that my daughter didn’t have to miss our appointments, recommendations on the best car for a new teenage driver, rides to a restaurant for lunch and the kicker, drum roll please… worked on our car till 10:30 at night and dropped it off at our hotel so that we could hit the road early and make it back home.(They close at 6 pm) I didn’t think people like this existed anymore and certainly not in the auto repair business. Very Fair prices, great communication about what’s going on with your car and superior service. The best — - I want to come to them for all my car repairs and dump my old mechanic. Highly Highly recommend

Great shop with quick service. Dan did a wonderful job. He’s the man!

Owner never returned any of my calls over a 4 month period. All of the service prior was similar to reviews. Koko the wife of Bo constantly covered for him. No responsibility whatsoever. It was unexplainable. Finally a friend had to go and retrieve the car from the lot in Goleta. This is a shady operation. Risky at best.

I was lucky enough to have the owner, Bo, riding his motorcycle along route 154 while i was stranded alongside Lake Cachuma. He offered his best help there as a good samaritan but we could not get my beloved Volkswagen running. He gave me his card and said he will be at his shop if i decide to bring it there. I was many miles from home, and i got towed to his shop where he worked until 10 PM Saturday night (closed Saturdays) but could not come up with the parts to get it going. The following Sunday morning he returned and with some creativity he got me on the road and my vehicle runs and drives better than ever. I could not have been broken down in a better place at a better time, and i am extremely grateful for Import Auto Geeks and the service they provided. If you have a problem, GO HERE!!!

Bo, the head mechanic helped me with my check engine light (the diagnosis was free), and some other problems. The service was great! Very nice, knowledgeable, professional, and quick service (car was done the day after I dropped it off). Would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.
