If you have family, friends or just want to try something before you buy, Santa Barbara Bikes-​To-​Go is a great service. They offer a range of road, mountain and beach cruisers, in addition to stand-​up paddle boards and other ocean stuff. There service is friendly, attentive that everything fits and you’re comfortable with your gear before you head out. And if you need suggestions, trails to ride or ideas on where the fun is, they’ll point you in the right direction. They’ll give you water to stay hydrated too! I have used this service three times and have been pleased at how easy this was to enjoy Santa Barbara a little bit more!

What a great place. My wife and I rented bikes this morning so we could tour around with our six old twins. We were helped by Nathan who arranged for a couple of Treks. One with a tag along and one with a trailer. The service was flawless, the bikes and equipment were fantastic. Perfect experience.

I had GREAT service while I was here– Lots of suggestions for things to see, off the beaten path locations. Overall, very helpful in terms of sightseeing in Santa Barbara. They also have great prices, and will go to you if you get a flat tire or brake down at all.

Yesterday my wife and I drove up from Newbury Park to enjoy a beautiful So Cal Valentines in Santa Barbara. We decided to ride bikes around town but did not want to bring our own. The crew at S.B. Bikes to Go were very helpful. They have a great selection of bikes from Road Bikes, MTB’s, Beach Cruiser’s… They’ve got them all. They were helpful with the fitting of the bike for my wife. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mitch and Crew!!!

My friends and I rented 3 hybrids and 1 road bike for the week. The bikes were first rate (I really enjoyed the electronic shifters on the trek) and the staff we very professional and courteous, gave us extra bike lights and set us up with a set of panniers and a bike rack for the car. All good!

We drove our family of 6 to Santa Barbara from the Bay Area, and arranged to have bikes delivered and picked up to our resort. Our bikes were perfectly matched for us, and waiting for us as promised as we ended up arriving later than we hoped. I didn’t realize we would need a bike trailer and it was delivered the same day I requested it, with another bike for our friend. Bikes were awesome quality, service was perfect and could not have asked for a more seamless process. look no further for bike renting and awesome guys to work with!

I came out her from Delaware to visit my son and his wife. On previous trips I mentioned that I would love to ride up into the Santa Ynez mountains. Prior to coming out here my son checked into renting a bike? I booked a Cannondale road bike online. It was easy and they were very helpful choosing the bike. We had a great ride into the mountains and then down the coast. I hope to rent from them again, the next time I come out.

This was my first time renting road bikes and I really enjoyed the experience at SB bikes to go. The rental fee was not cheap, but the bikes we got were high quality. I got a trek madone 4.5 WSD (50″) which was great because I normally ride a madone 4.3. The team was really friendly and helped us find a bike route since we weren’t familiar with the area. I brought my own pedals bike and helmet.

This is my first experience renting bikes. I came from Chicago to Santa Barbara to participate in the Santa Barbara Metric Century ride. I was a little hesitant at first about doing the whole race and renting a bike that is different from my own, however, I am entirely satisfied with the experience and renting through this store helped make my vacation one of my favorites. I went through their rental process online and selected the Trek Madone 5.9, and received a response from the business owner (Mitch) I believe within a few hours, definitely within 24 hours giving me all the necessary details and confirmation that I would be able to rent the bike that I wanted. Also, I was unable to take the pedals off my own bike to bring so I called them up a couple days in advance and asked, and they said they had plenty of the pedals that fit with my Shimano SPD cleats so I chose to use their pedals.
Then, when I got to the store the mechanic working there was very friendly and helpful in making sure the bike fit me, and had me test ride. Additionally, the shifters on this were electronic which I had never heard of until I got to this store, and he made sure I understood how to use this.
Overall, I had a great experience for these reasons: 1) I was able to rent a bike for a race instead of having to pay significantly more to ship my bike from Chicago to Santa Barbara, 2) excellent customer service. I think having the right employees with people skills dealing with customers is an extremely important thing to have. and 3) I was able to test ride a high-​end bike that is a huge step up from the bike I normally ride (Scott Speedster S60) which means I now need to strongly consider upgrading my own bike.

While not the cheapest game in town… we had a great experience renting cruisers from Bikes to Go in Santa Barbara and would happily recommend and contact them again next time we’re in town! The whole process of renting bikes, picking them up, and returning them was super easy. The guy that was there was super chill and helpful, and made sure that our bikes were adjusted properly before taking off so that we could have a comfortable and enjoyable day. They provide locks for you and even offer you up helmets if you so desire. Returning the bikes was just as simple, and he made sure to ask us if we had any problems with the bikes, which we didn’t. We also found out that they even offer up horse rides on the beach, but those have to be booked in advance. Definitely a fun way to get around Santa Barbara and great people to deal with at SB Bikes To Go!

This is actually more like a 3.5 for the bike rental side of the business. Pros: 1. Super convenient (they meet us at the train station when we got into town) 2. Very responsive (we booked our rental bikes quickly, they called us back quickly when needed, and they arrived when they said they would) 3. Lower price than other places we found. Cons: 1. our rental beach cruiser bikes were good looking but pretty crappy. Mine was making loud twanging noises, We got it replaced, and the next one lost a nut on the front wheel while I was riding it the next day. My wife’s bike was ok but the problem was that both bikes looked great and felt cheap.
Overall a benefit to our trip and worth it but could’ve been 100% better with more solid bikes; why not old Schwinns?

These guys are GREAT! They really care. As an avid bike rider I contacted SBBikes about renting a road bike for Santa Barbara. They got me an almost new Orbea Carbon Fiber in great condition. Using the measurements from my Trek they had the bike set up perfectly. They had my Shimano SPD road pedals on the bike. I had learned from Trek Travel that having your non riding spouse on an ebike can allow them to ride with you without complaining. SBBikestogo provided that bike also. When I told them by email I was going to take the mountain ride suggested on their website, they may sure the ebike had two batteries so we would have plenty of power. Brian took so much care in going over the map of our tour and where people get lost and teaching my wife about the ebike. This is a great customer experience for people who really care about bikes. I wish there was service like this everywhere. Also there was no dorky handle bar bags where their name on it or plastic map attached the to the handle bars. They also included a tube kit and water bottles. I needed the tube kit, so they took every precaution to make sure we had a great ride. They delivered our bikes to the hotel ten minutes early and picked them up right after we called. I could not think of one thing they could have done better!

From scheduling through drop off, SB Bikes to Go provided excellent service. The employee who dropped the bike off to me (convenient) provided maps of great SB routes. They offer to deliver the night before, have top notch bikes, and include water bottles and basic tools to change a flat (tube included). I would highly suggest the Gibraltar Rd to Camino Cielo and then down Painted Cave /​San Pedro for those up to the challenge. They will provide a map of it if you ask about it. I’m on a tangent now, but to sum up, I highly recommend SB Bikes to Go!

Truly amazing experience! I’m from Seattle and and was so fortunate to stumble across Santa Barbara Bikes to Go. I was in SB to do the Solvang Century and was originally going to transport my bike on the plane. I’m an experienced cyclist, but small. Finding high end rental bikes in my size has been incredibly difficult. Not only did they have a 2014 Orbea Orca in my size (49), it also had Di2 shifters. So cool to be able to try out a comparable brand to my bike with new technology! See attached pic of the gorgeous machine and countryside.
Santa Barbara Bikes to Go not only has the coolest bikes, but they also had my Speedplay pedals at no additional charge. This saved me having to remove and pack mine. Also, one has to check a bag if they plan on bringing a pedal wrench. They do offer women specific seats as well, but smart girls only make the mistake of not bringing their own seat once. :-)
The customer service was fabulous! Not sure if ownership has changed since the review from donna v, but Mitch and Brian took super good care of me. I provided my measurements prior to arrival, they had the bike set up for me, put my seat on, and looked at the fit. They also provided a seat bag complete with flat repair essentials and a nice multi-​tool.
This company specializes in renting bikes. They had all different kinds of bikes too from beach cruisers, mountain bikes, kid bikes, and some bikes I’d never seen before with super fat wheels. They’ll even deliver them to your hotel.

I set up a time for Adam to drop off the bike after I touched down, Adam showed up with the bike on time, gave me some ride suggestions and I had an amazing ride — what an awesome way to see/​experience the Santa Barbara area:
When I got back, I just gave Adam a call and he promptly picked the bike up. I had a great time and I highly recommend these guys.

I would love to experience the excellent customer service that Liz S. experienced with these guys. I love their idea of bike delivery, and I would have loved to have that convenience… but I can’t reach them! I’ve sent an email; I’ve left a voice message; and I’ve been calling literally day and night with no response for 8 days.
My trip is coming up in a few days, and at this point I’m going somewhere else, even if I’d really rather do business with these guys.
The bike delivery concept is awesome… but you gotta answer the phone, email, or at least leave some indication that you’re not open/​available.
(…I just called WheelHouse – and someone picked up the phone! And took my reservation! Incredible.)
Update: They called me back, and approached me as if nothing was wrong – implying they are either oblivious about a customer’s somewhat desperate/​eager attempt to reach them; or that they are uncomfortable with difficult conversations and would rather just ignore the issue. Nothing unusual in business these days.

I rented a top-​of-​the-​line road bike from Taryn and Joe — to use in the Santa Barbara long course triathlon. Since I live in Seattle and am not a huge biker, I had some trepidation about renting on-​line, getting the sizing right, and so on. I could not have been in better hands than with Santa Barbara Bikes-​to-​Go. They had reasonable rates, comprehensive, timely, and professional service, and were excellent and fun to deal with to boot.
If I knew more about biking and bikes in general, I could more specifically praise the model they provided me. All I can say is that that sucker was light, easy to navigate, in excellent condition, and fully equipped.
