If youre looking at this Unilocal page I assume youre trying to do something radical to your car that requires an expert mechanic. If this describes you then Su is definitely your guy, especially if your car is a Toyota. If you have the patience, time, and money to work with Su then I would absolutely recommend him. I emphasize the patience, time, and money part because he does cost a premium and he will take a while to complete the job. He is a solo mechanic and has many projects in the queue so it will take time. That being said he is extremely fair and honest and the money I paid him was worth every penny. Youre getting quality work no doubt.
I had Su swap in a new motor into my AE86 and it is running like a charm. He even warrants his work and makes sure youre good even after the job is complete. Su will take care of you if you respect him and his work. He is hard to get a hold of sometimes but that is just how he runs things.
Would take my car to him 10 times out of 10 if I had to do it all over again.

Su is a stand up professional. When you have an older Toyota that hasn’t seen a mechanic in a long time, he can give you a good idea of what needs to be done now, might be related to what needs to be done now and also what can be pushed off until the future. He was immensely helpful in diagnosing and repairing an issue with an old truck of mine. I would happily recommend him to anyone in the area.

Su is the Mr2 Guru of the Bay Area.
He built two of my engines in both my late aw11 and my current sw20 as well as so many random repairs and upgrades to both.
Su is a one man show, so don’t expect to get your car back the next day if it’s a large job. His shop is always packed with cars which goes to show that many of us agree that Su knows what he’s doing. You can, however, expect to get top notch work done! Definitely worth the time and money.

Su is the MR2 specialist for the South Bay. I learned about Su from my friend who had a 2^nd gen MR2 back in the day. I had a 3^rd gen that spun a bearing.
Su swapped the motor. He’s the one who knew how to do it. He did it right at a fair price. (a motor swap isn’t cheap)
Bottom line. My wife’s enjoying the MR2 spyder because of Su’s work.

Su is a really cool guy. My boyfriend has brought many of his cars his for the dyno and other niffty car things. What I like about this place is it is tucked inside an alley in Santa Clara and it’s near Rivermark when you have to wait. Again, Su is awesome and is a MR2 expert.

I needed to install a hard dog rollbar on my MR2 spyder. I found Su through a forum member and emailed him for a quote. Fast forward a couple of weeks, I dropped my car and 4 days later I had my car back with the roll bar installed.
His work was professional and the panel cuts (required to install the roll bar) were carefully made.
I see myself doing business with Su again in the future.

Just in the planning stages of getting my struts and swaybars upgraded for our Honda Accord and Saturn Wagon, but I have to say service and knowledge is top notch. I love it when a mechanic answers are your questions and concerns. Now if my back ordered Bilstein and Koni struts would hurry up and get here… (I ordered them from my sources).

Su’s been working on my mk1 mr2 for the past three years. he’s straight up, no nonsense, and is an absolute knowledgeable mechanic.
his knowledge of mr2 is incredible and he knows these cars inside and out. his prices are fair and he does his job well.
i’ll be bringing my mr2 for service as long as i own my mr2.

Its An Duy Tran, Su, My name is An Duy Tran, not Anh Nguyen. You could have just quoted me a higher price and get it done nicely and i would have been happy to pay you whatever. You saw the engine siting in pieces when you quoted me.
You messed up on the cressida because you took forever, and didnt inspect the oilpan before installing.
You messed up on the 240 clutch because you were in a hurry to your snowboarding trip and put the wrong main bearing in. You lost the one that came with the clutch and found another one in your shop and just threw it on there. When the clutch was taken off the bearing wasn’t even the right fit. I dont blame you for loosing parts. You do it all the time because you are messy and there are parts everywhere in your shop. It gives it a nostalgic feeling.

I’ve been taking my car to Su for a few times during the fast couple of years. He does great work at a very reasonable price. He can troubleshoot just about anything you throw at him and doesn’t only fix the issues you mentioned; Su will go above and beyond to check other areas where he feels could use some care.

I have had the privilege of knowing Su for a while now. I used to harass him when he would do work out of his parents garage.
I have seen him grow his business over the years, and he has plenty of loyal customers that will only trust him with their cars.
Su has reasonable pricing, especially since he is specialized in Toyota performance cars.
Competant tuners of race cars come to him to rent out his Dyno because of his reasonable pricing. I have seen him spend hours tuning cars with his dyna-​pack and was amazed at the price he quoted the customers.
Su is a one-​man shop that takes on highly specialized projects. If you want that turbo mk1 mr2, or some other custom goodies, he is the man to go to. Su needs to have a BBQ soon!

I met Su long before I actually ever had any work done by him but even before I was a customer, he was the guru that generously gave me advice when I needed it. My car has gone through a ton of sh1t and he has always been very friendly, honest, and knowledgeable in guiding me in the right direction by answering my questions and suggesting the best solution.
Recently I’ve had work done by him and I’d say it’s an extensive list which will only continue to grow as my wallet recharges (which isn’t to imply high prices or anything — I’m just a student). He dyno’ed my car a long time ago but recently he’s changed three of my wheel bearings, two hubs, front ball joints. But his guidance has been invaluable to me in many other situations as well. He’s helped me locate many other problems such as the play in my steering which was due to a loose column, given me advice concerning fabrication of a custom exhaust, and explained countless concepts and details to me.
Also if you choose to get parts through him, you will receive it WAY faster than ordering it online. It will be at list price which will sometimes end up a little pricier but you get parts fast and support a local mechanic in the process.
Overall Su is a great guy and if you choose to bring your car to him, you can rest assured he will perform quality work.

Su will follow through and stands behinds his work whether its a small or large job. Whether you need work done or just need advice regarding sport compact modifications/​repair aggressive is the place. A range of services including, but not limited to: auto repair, modifications, dyno tuning service, custom vinyl sticker production, and custom CAD embroidery.
Countless work done to my car here, biggest purchase was a forged long block with cams, 20k+ miles and 2 years later still runs solid and no oil leaks!

Reasonable pricing, competent and most importantly honest.
I came here because I wanted to swap the pulley on my Scion tC’s supercharger for one that made more PSI. Because this is a full service performance shop I was able to do dyno pulls (dynapack) before and after to measure actual performance changes.
I called in and was quoted a very reasonable bundle price for both the pulley swap and dyno pulls. Su has done plenty of belt swaps on other Toyotas so I had full confidence that he knows what he is doing. When we went in to do my car we found that it was significantly more cramped than the other ones hes worked on (b/​c of the supercharger). Needless to say this took a little longer than expected labor wise (things had to move to make way). However he held to his original quote despite the extra work. *respect points*
One thing I always look for in mechanics is attention to detail. After we were finished and putting the car back together I remember he torqued the lugs back to specs. *much appreciated* If you’ve ever had a flat on the road you’ll know why this is so important. Lazy mechanics will just use the airgun to spin your lugs back on, *big no-​no* good luck getting them off again by hand. I definitely trust this guy’s workmanship.

Have been coming to Su for his expertise for years now. Will never cease giving him my business nor will I stop referring friends over to AGP =]

Wow I don’t know what that other guy’s problem was. Every time I come to the shop, I have an awesome time. Su is a great guy to deal with. I had my engine swap done by him back in June of 2009 and my deuce has been running great ever since. No leaks whatsoever. Su Warranties his labor for 6 months and I had brought it back a couple of times for him to fine tune some bolts and nuts but that was about it. Ohh he also gave me 2 hrs on the DYNO.
I went to his shop today because of an oil leak I couldn’t find on the engine and he spotted the coupler to the throttle body had cracked. It was the one from the original motor. I don’t know how I missed it and I looked everywhere else but there, and I even checked out the throttle body. I asked him how much for a new one and he grabbed one that he had laying around and just let me have it. This is out of his warranty period BTW. AWESOME. Last time I was there, his wife brought him pizza and he offered me some. How cool is that? He also let me use his tools!!!
Hey Su, Can I bring my car over next time to change oil? haha J/​K
Forgot to mention one other thing. My white deuce is also now under his capable hands. I can’t wait for the result of that one. (^_​^) V

I will never take my car to any other shop so long as I live! I own a 91 Toyota MR2 NA and I’ve never had any other shop do what Su does. He is truly a blessing in my life and if he had a church I would definitely be a member! Seriously if i could be reincarnated as anything in the world I’d love to be his hand or something! Su knows his stuff and every question I’ve ever had he has been able to answer completely and honestly.
I recommend him to all my family and friends. I wish i would give him more stars.
I guess only people with purple wide body mr2’s would find Su to be incapable…
