Alana Zhou, OD

I went in to see Dr. Zhou last Friday and she was wonderful. I previously worked for an optometrist before so I am familiar with an eye exam. I really liked how meticulous Dr. Zhou was with my concerns. She would explain things to me so I would have a better comprehension of what is going on. She would do further tests to ensure that she did not miss anything. I would highly recommend her!

I have tried out a number of optometrists over the years. It is difficult finding a really good one. Most of them seem to not care, others don’t seem to have the knowledge and skill, while yet others especially the independent optometrists are more interested in pushing their eyeglasses and frames.
I finally found Dr. Stephanie Kwan at Costco Sunnyvale. Competent, listened to your concerns and did a good checkup.
This year I decided to get the free checkup at Kaiser, since it was covered in my plan, and I was expecting just ordinary service. Instead I got stunningly good service.
Dr. Zhou is exceptional. She is calm and patient, very knowledgeable, and more than anything else doesn’t just listen to your concerns, she attempts to address them. Not by giving you some placating words, but testing for things around what you might have said — extending and extrapolating to ensure that what you were saying wasn’t the indication of some problem.
I was thoroughly impressed. She is quite exceptional.
I am probably going to drop Kaiser for next years plan, so it is sad that I might not be able to keep her as my optometrist going forward. If you are on the Kaiser plan, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Zhou for your eye care needs.
