Here at our dental office, we provide only the best of pediatric care. We have the most trusted dentists in the Bay Area, and you can be sure your precious little ones will be taken good care of. Being a pediatric dentist is a challenge because we know that children tend to feel anxious and afraid when go for a dental visit. This is why only those who are specially trained in Pediatric Dentistry are recommended for kids visits, especially by younger children.

History

Established in 2008.

Dr. Radwan started the Sunnyvale office with the goal that he wanted a dental office where he would feel comfortable taking his children. In 2010 he started the Morgan Hill Office because he had so many good friends and patients from the South County area. In August of 2014, he opened an office in Santa Clara, which allows us to accommodate more patients. Since then the offices have been run based on his vision, mission and core values with the goal of having the best Pediatric Dental office in the Bay Area.

I finished my college with an engineering degree from SJSU. Afterwards, I took a position as a semiconductor engineer at Texas Instruments. I didn’t like being an engineer and in retrospect it never fit my personality. Although I met some fantastic mentors and great people, I but decided to started studying for the dental school entrance exam.

I graduated Dental school at NYU with a US Army Scholarship in 2002. I served as a general dentist in 2002, and was assigned to a dental unit in Germany. My son was born shortly after my wife and I arrived. Three months later I was deployed as part of the first dental unit to enter Iraq.

After the Army, I began my Pediatric Dentistry residency at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, NY. My daughter was born shortly before I completed my residency, and we moved to California.

In 2008 I started the Sunnyvale office with the goal that I wanted a dental office where I would feel comfortable taking my children.

I’ve been coming here for my 2 sons for a couple of years now, and we love it! The waiting room has 2 movies playing at all times, 2 iPads mounted on the wall, and a few toys for smaller kids. The exam room is open and friendly; I like that the kids can see other kids being examined and hopefully follow their lead. They also have TVs mounted to the ceilings with little headphones to let them watch during their exams! The assistants are so so sweet, and so patient even when the kids are screaming through clenched teeth, and Dr Metwally and Dr Radwan are great as well. Initial visits have always been rough (through no fault of theirs, just the nature of young children) but my 3.5 year old recently had a super pleasant exam without any fuss! I was so amazed that he lay there patiently through the whole exam!
It’s a bit of a drive from where we live, but I’ll be bringing my kids here as long as I can. Awesome office!

This office has been wonderful for my family. My daughters feel safe and cared for here. The staff are kind and accommodating. Dr. Radwan and Dr. Metwali are very informative and detailed about treatment. They handle both my children’s needs. My oldest has a great fear of dentists stemming from a previous dr and she refuses to anywhere else than here. The lobby accommodates children as well as parents. The facility is clean and inviting.

First dental visit for our 3 yr old daughter. Staff was nice and it was nice they had toys and movies in the waiting area for the kids. Everthing seemed clean including the bathroom which had diapers and supplies for changing which was nice. Cleaning went fine and they explained everything. She got scared in the middle of it but that was expected. The Dr was very informative, instructive, and answered all of my questions. Afterward she got a couple of toys and sticker. Overall great place and will go back.

My 5 year old and my 3 year old recently had appointments at this dental office. They were both terrified of going to the dentist. I was a nervous wreck myself. I thought they were going to have big meltdowns and not cooperate. Kayla was the dental assistant who worked on my daughter. She was amazing she kept my daughter at ease throughout the appointment. Jennifer was the dental assistant who worked on my son. She was amazing as well she kept my son calm and at ease. Both Dr. Radwan and Dr. Metwally were great with the kiddos. I highly recommend this dental office!!!

Just had our first appointment with Dr. Radwan. After 3 years with another awesome dentist who retired we were lucky to find Bay Area Kids Dentist. They were able to get us an appointment with X-​rays and a cleaning for my two boys (5 & 6 ½) with only 2 days notice. Debbie was our assistant and was amazing. She was so full of energy and kindness. She made me and the boys feel comfortable right away. Dr. Radwan had a great way with the boys and answered all of my many questions. All in all it was a very good experience and en even better first impression. We are looking forward to many more visits with Dr. Radwan and the team at Bay Area Kids Dentist.

I actually wish they would take adults here cause I love this office so much! I bring my 4 yr old and 3 yr old here and without fail they leave every time screaming «I love the dentist!»
The atmosphere, the assistants and Dr Metwally are exceptional! So glad we found this office and even though we are moving further away we will still be coming here.

Two updates:
1. My 7-​Year old son saw Chan and Dr. Metwally yesterday and I was reminded how much we all love this dentist office. We were on a time crunch, and they were able to complete a thorough appointment AND do a few sealants in the limited time window. Really appreciate their punctuality and professionalism. Chan and Dr. M really take time to listen and give thoughtful advice to patients.
2. Been almost a year since Debbie and Dr. Metwally at Bay Area Kids Dentist had the «please don’t suck your thumb» chat with my 3-​year old. Still grateful for the chat (and my resilient little one who finally put her headstrong will to good use).

We have been so happy with Bay Area Kids Dentist and feel so lucky we found them. Everyone who works at Bay Area Kids Dentist seems to really enjoy their job, and the staff has always been extremely helpful and cheerful (Monica, Christalina, and others have been terrific). My kids love going in for visits/​check-​ups… everyone is so nice to them, and they have a play area with toys and some iPads while the kids wait. Kids can then walk through their own smaller door, and are greeted by the friendliest hygienists in the business. Seriously! We have loved everyone who has cleaned both my boys’ teeth. Jennifer S, Cihua and Kiley have been terrific, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some names, but we’ve been impressed by the entire staff. They get to lie there and watch a movie with their own earphones and glasses… and get to pick whichever movie they want to watch from a long list. My older son thinks this place is the best. We’ve visited with Dr Radwan and Dr Metwally and both are exceptional. They both seem to really value our kids and their oral hygiene.
When the kids are done, they get to pick a fun toy and stickers too. We’re excited we’ve finally found a kids dentist we like and trust. The kids always get excited about coming here.

I had such a great experience at the Santa Clara office. There was a problem with my insurance (my fault) but they were fantastic about figuring it all out for us.
Jessica was wonderful with my daughter. Dr. Radwan explain everything clearly and took the time to build a relationship with my daughter.
I love that I was able to go back with her.
Overall, it was a great experience for myself and my daughter.

My daughter just had her first visit here and we left very pleased. The front desk lady was happy and helpful and we were seen not long after I finished with new patient paperwork. While waiting, they have a kids area with iPads and other things to do. Ashley helped us with x-​rays and the cleaning. She was patient, cheerful, and worked quickly. My daughter loves going to the dentist already, but Ashley and Dr. Radwan helped to make this experience great. Dr. Radwan was thorough in going over everything with me– I didn’t feel rushed. He was chatty and welcomed us to NorCal, which was nice.

My 4-​yo twins have been to this dentist twice and the experiences were both amazing. We were sad when I changed networks so that their old dentist was no longer in-​network, but I’m glad we were able to find Dr. Metwally and the rest of his staff here. The setup of the waiting room is great, with two TV screens and a small play area, which the kids enjoyed. I walked in and was promptly greeted by the receptionist and we were seen within 5 minutes of arrival.
The appointment itself is made to be as fun as a dentist appointment can be. The kids go in and choose a toothbrush of their choice and are introduced to the dental assistant’s «friends,» who will be helping with cleaning their mouth. There are TV screens embedded INTO the ceiling so that the children can enjoy a movie or show of their choice (and they had pretty much all the options), along with an earset that they can use to listen. Afterward, one of the dentists will come out to take a look and go over what needs to be focused on moving forward for optimal dental health. Once the appointment is over, they get to choose a toy from one of the bins.
And, as if the staff know how difficult it is to keep children under control after an appointment, one of the dental assistants will come as you return to the waiting room and hand you a sheet that is their version of an anticipated EOB, which also lists their next appointment (which you can change, of course, if necessary). This makes checkout so easy because we can just walk out of there with new toys and new toothbrushes in hand and an appointment already booked.
Extra bonus points because Dr. Metwally recognized all the characters of my children’s toys and their assocaited friends.

First time at the dentist for my 2.5 year old and my 4.5 year old and it far exceeded my expectations. From the trouble with my referral to dealing with the kids, they did such an amazing job! The dental assistants and the dentist himself were very good with the kids, so much so that my younger one was hugging her dental assistant (Chan) at the end. They have tv screens, games, toys, very fun loving people and a great office. You can tell they are all bonded as well, which is speaks so much about the company. Love this place!

My nearly-​4 year old son, Alex, had his first dentist appt here today (I know! We were a little late!). I looked at many dentist offices before I finally made an appt with Bay Area Kids DDS, and I am glad that I persevered because they were every bit as fantastic as the reviews indicate.
The waiting area is super kid-​friendly. My son scampered off to play with some puzzle and watch TV in the play area as soon as we arrived. The reception staff (everyone, but especially Tina) were amazingly friendly, engaging, and great with kids.
Better yet, we were PROMPTLY seen, within minutes of our arrival. Our hygienist, Ashley, explained everything to Alex and made sure he was absolutely comfortable before she started his cleaning. He LOVED her.
Dr. Metwally came to examine Alex next and he was wonderful. Thankfully, Alex’s teeth looked good so he didn’t have to do a lot, but he discussed his spacing (and the potential for crowding =(), his nutrition, hygiene habits, and asked if I had any questions.
All in all, my son had a terrific first experience (he will definitely WANT to go back) and I had a great experience too. They even automatically schedule your child’s next appointment for you, while you’re being seen so once you’re finished, your ready to go. AWESOME!

This place has my kids feeling like tooth rock stars! My youngest loves it and my oldest, who can be a difficult patient, is treated with loving kindness and actually makes it through his cleanings.
The staff is fabulous; kind, funny, energetic and super helpful and supportive. The kids get to pick their own toothbrushes, there is entertainment everywhere (it’s like a mini mouth amusement park) and the movie selection is amaze-​pants.
If you have children of any age this is a place they will love visiting for checkups!

Bay Area Kids Dentist is the best, starting from the front staff to the back staff! The office is beautiful and so welcoming, every time I come in with my kids I’m never disappointed. They always manage to amazed me!
Dr. Metwally is always through on explaining what I need to know, and he is so caring with my children. He is so awesome with my kids. Kayla the RDA that cleaned Kaley’s teeth is so amazing, she took the time to show me the area, where I need to improve on brushing with my daughter. Jennifer the RDA that cleaned Matthew’s teeth is so loving with my 4 year old. She gentle with my son, Matthew would not sit still for any cleanings, and for him to sit through it all, with her it means she knows what she’s doing. Last but not least Jen who cleaned Brenden’s teeth is also so patient with my son, she took the time to show him all of her cool tools that she was using to make him feel more comfortable.
