DES Reprographics (Digital Engineering Systems) provides on-​demand reprographic services for printing, copying, duplicating and scanning full-​size plans, specs, and project manuals, in both color and black-​and-​white. We also sell, lease and service many popular brands of wide-​format printers, plotters and scanners, such as HP, Canon, KIP, Oce, Ricoh, Xerox, Graphtec, Contex and Colortrac. In addition, we carry a full line of printer/​copier consumable supplies, such as paper rolls, ink cartridges and toner.

History

Established in 1992.

DES Reprographics (Digital Engineering Systems) was the Bay Area’s first independent reseller of KIP wide-​format digital plotter & printer/​scanner systems, primarily servicing large-​scale manufacturing and engineering facilities. We’ve since specialized in supporting contractors, architects and public agencies, and added other popular printer brands, such as HP, Canon, Ricoh, Oce and Xerox. Our reprographics printing department opened in 2005, and has grown steadily year-​over-​year with color devices and multiple high-​speed plotters and scanners.

Manager

I lead the sales and marketing operations at DES, and have been here for 15 years. Along the way, I have learned the business of wide-​format printers and reprographics from scratch, after previous stints as a sales engineer at SGI/​Silicon Graphics, technical support supervisor at SMI/​Strategic Mapping, and a city planner with the Town of Los Gatos.

The skills I developed in technology and customer service have translated well in succeeding at DES.

After working at both medium-​size and very large companies, I have really enjoyed devoting my energy to growing a local small business. Every day is something new, and I get to know all of our customers by name. You can actually make a difference and interact in a personal way. It is much more satisfying and exciting, than being a little cog in the big machine.

I needed to print and scan a set of architectural design drawings. Most print shops could not handle the large size (24″ x 36″). Fedex Kinko’s charges $ 7.50 per scan and $ 4.50 per print. I turned to DES Reprograhics. Their service is unmatched. For a fraction of the cost others charge, they not only produced the quality printouts but also scanned all the drawings into pdf. I highly recommend DES Reprographics.

My architect recommended DES to print out our building plans to submit to the city. WOW these guys were efficient, fast and it was perfect. I couldn’t ask for better. Oh, and you can email them the file directly and pick it up the next morning — incredible. And to top it off, they are a friendly bunch! Definitely recommend using them!

DES has saved our company time and money over the 4 years we’ve used them. They are consistent, pleasant and very professional. I’ve thrown them some awful mixed up plans and they’ve happily and correctly sorted them out and delivered in a timely manner. Be it a huge print job or a tiny one, the service is always the best. I absolutely love DES. I have been using them for several years now for all of my scanning, printing, copying and laminating needs. Majority of the orders I request are large format print jobs, but I do occasionally send in smaller sized orders. Their prices are reasonable, they communicate efficiently and produce quality work. They always deliver on time and everyone that works there is friendly, knowledgeable and takes pride in their job. I highly recommend DES.

Staples, FedEx Office (Kinkos), and Office Max cannot compare to DES. All other stores said they would not scan large one-​line diagram, and only one had a self-​service scanner for an unreasonable price. After calling Paul at DES Reprographics, he ensured that me that he could easily take my scan, and do the scan for a great price, saving me time, and money! I have to say how shocked I was by how quickly Paul scanned, and uploaded my 36“x60″ documents into a PDF file for me with their plotter scanner. The scan job was better than anything I could have asked for… perfect!
During my visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing the excellent staff, and great customer service of DES Reprographics. The free drink on a warm day was an awesome bonus! I didn’t even have time to finish my drink before Paul was finished with all my scans. I know I can trust DES Reprographics with all my personal and business needs. DES knows how to get the job done, they’ve been doing this type of work for over two decades. I’ll definitely be visiting again for three reasons:

Our company has used DES Reprographics for almost 3 years now. We have high volume print job requirements and they have always done an amazing job in terms of service, quality, competitive pricing and speed.
We also use DES for the wide breadth of services they offer.
On the very rare occasion when a mistake occurs (we are all human) they are very quick to fix the problem and put quality controls in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

I came here because I really wanted to get some prints made of illustrations that I like to do. Because most of my work is on 14“x 17″ Bristol board, I had to find a place with a large format scanner. I came to DES because Plotter Pros, a printer I really wanted to work with, referred me there. I just needed an illustration scanned to a file for me to take to the printer. DES informed me that there was a $ 15 minimum, so I would have to get a print as well. When I came back to pick up my work, they informed me that they tried to put a protective sleeve over the illustration to keep the rollers on the scanner from smearing it, but nonetheless there was a long black streak going down the right side of the work, and the print that they gave me was good from the left side up until where the line occurred, then it was a different tint from that line on throughout the remainder of the illustration. I don’t even know where to begin fixing this, but I do know that I will not be going to this place again. They ruined a pen & ink wash that I had meticulously put roughly 26 hours of work into, and then to top it off? I was charged a little over $ 16 for it. What could I do except walk away and then feel discouraged from working on anything again for a long time? Thanks a lot guys. Recently, someone told me about their great experiences with Vietnam Printing, which can do scanning AND printing of large formats, which, 7 months following my bad experience with DES, has enlightened me to give printers another chance.

Preface: I work in IT Consulting and have interfaced with many printer vendors all around the Bay Area.
DES has their main office headquartered in the south bay, and they have a satellite office in SF.
One of my clients in downtown SF recently purchased a Canon 825 MFP Wide Format Ploter and Scanner from DES.
They were very professional and did an excellent job planning and implementing the new plotter.
This particular client is an all Mac office. I was very impressed that DES set up the plotter in their office and tested printing to it from a Mac to ensure everything works before delivery.
They were very thorough in sending measurements and information so we could figure out where the plotter would fit in the office.
On the day of delivery, they did a great job setting everything up, and worked with me to get all the workstations connected to the new device.
They sent lots of emails communicating each step through the whole process.
I was very impressed with their work and would recommend them to others.
