Planet Beach Contempo Spa

The plus to visiting planet beauty is that it is inexpensive. I was offered complementary sauna detox, hydomassage, and the light «facial» for being a new customer. I only had to spend $ 15 for their skin products. However, I will not be returning. The massage wasn’t very good and the facial did nothing for my skin; I would have been very disappointed if I really paid for it.
The staff is very nice and helpful.

Closed in the middle of the month and they refused to refund my prorated membership. Such crap, I paid for the full month, and couldnt use it. Such bad business. *Karma*

What a scam! I bought one of those «greenstar» promotions where you get treatments A, B, and C for less than $ 50 from my work. Went to get treatment A done, and will never be back for the rest! How in the heck are you supposed to get a relaxing massage when a bright light, brighter than the one from Men in Black movies, is on your face and their stupid goggles don’t help at all! You lie on top of these massager/​machine thing that’s so freaking loud that I swear I loss some hearing! It sounded like a freaking airplane was taking off next to me and I literally had to put my fingers in my ears to prevent damage! I read the other Unilocal reviews on treatments B and C, and thank you ladies, coz I will definitely never be back on this messed up place.

I have not been to a tanning salon in over a year. After being directed by my coach to tan prior to my bikini competition, I decided to check out Planet Beach. PB has several different EFT and paid in full memberships to choose from, some even include spa treatments. I have to say: I use to pay $ 75 a month for unlimited tanning at a salon no longer in business (Hollywood Tan). For around that range at PB, you get the UV tanning, salon treatments, AND sunless tanning! SWEET.
After deciding on a plan, Jessica took me to the hydration station. It was awesome getting something a little extra with my membership! It was like a 20 minute steam bath, and opened up all of my pores prior to hitting the tanning bed. I felt great! The rooms are all very clean, with plenty of room for changing. What I would recommend, is bringing a personal package of baby wipes. I did not see any at the salon and they’re a MUST for your hands if you use a bronzer.
Parking can be limited in the Rivermark Plaza, but so far I have not run into any issues by Planet Beach. Just be careful: there is a police station adjacent to the salon, so be sure to read the parking signs in the vicinity!!!
So far, I am very pleased with PB. Destiny and Jessica were great! I look forward to making this my tanning hub, for the next weeks.

Very overpriced and pretty awful service from some employees. Great services, just cost too much all around.
One time one of the employees had her kids there and I saw the little boy throw a shoe at a customer — very sad.

They’re so so nice and so awesome here! All the available beds and spa are good!

If i could turn back time i would avoid ever buying a ‘deal’ to go to this place. It was some sort of coupon, but still ended up costing me a $ 150. It was the most uncomfortable, unrelaxing, awkward, sweaty, disgusting, and UNSANITARY experience of my entire life.
if you are looking for a relaxation day, for the love of God go to a conventional and traditional massage place. DO NOT go here– it’s all mechanical garbage. And i’ll tell you this– the ENTIRE time i was there i was extremely stressed out, uncomfortable, and dripping of sweat.
HORRIBLE experience.
The staff is nice but they could learn to keep their voice down and not gossip at the register. Guess what? No one wants to hear you after we just paid money to ‘relax’ in the next room. Learn to zip it or go work at a nail salon where talking is encouraged.

I’ve never been a monthly member anywhere but I signed up for 5 months with Planet Beach. I was so thankful to have walked in and met Jessica. She introduced me to all of their offerings and pricing with recommendations that suited my needs.
I am in my second month and love having the monthly membership so I can do different services every time I go. My visits to Planet Beach are different from other tanning places because it actually can turn into a day of pampering if I need.
I have been very pleased with the service at Planet Beach, they go above and beyond helping with my scheduling and getting the most out of my membership. So far I enjoy tanning, red light, sauna and hydrating. Next I plan on massage and possibly the facial thing!
I also found my trainer from information pamphlets they have on display. Doyle Childs has been an amazing trainer, details in his review for Focused Agility and Suspension Training!

Planet Beach offers tanning, sauna, steam, red light and other misc spa therapies. It was part of my birthday pledge to treat myself and is an ongoing experiment that I plan to write a thorough review on when I’ve got a number of months in.
I had a special set of photos taken before I started (that measured skin health) and I’ll have the same photos taken later, to see how much improvement there was. For now, I like that there is often availability during the day on something so I never really have to schedule ahead. I did have a witchy encounter with one of the girls there recently but, it was probably just an off day. She and I are are fine now.
On cold days like today, I love that the sessions warm me to the bone.

The monthly membership here is expensive compared to what I was used to paying in the past. I might just buy individual sessions. I got the Unilocal coupon $ 25 for $ 50 worth was a great deal to start with. So far a friendly staff, clean, cozy place.

So I am going on a cruise in a few days (SO EXCITED!), and a few months ago I saw a groupon for this place for four mystic tans. The girls there were very nice, I had to fill out some initial paperwork, I guess they don’t want you to UV tan if you’ve had skin cancer before. It just had a lot of medical questions and questions about your personal preferences and things like that. Anyway onto the mystic tan…
So they have you watch a video before you tan, then you go into this room, put some lotion on certain parts like in between your fingers and toes and what not, put your hair cap on and put in your nose plug. I have to say I was totally freaking out while i was getting the tan. It’s not like you CAN’T breathe with the nose plug in but when you are in such a small area and it fills up with the spray, your heart starts beating faster, you start to take shorter faster breaths, and with the nose plug in it just makes it seem like you can’t breathe! Really try not to open your eyes or mouth, I got a little taste it was nasty! I have to say though that I am satisfied with the results, and maybe next time I will just try to hold my breath.

I used to have a membership at Planet Beach in Sunnyvale and had an excellent experience while I was there. I ended my membership because I moved and my closest location was not worth the 100/​month. Planet Beach used to have standards. Standards have definitely dropped across the franchise.
This will be my last Planet Beach visit.
Pricing: I asked about a deal to try their location and the lady at the front counter, only offered me memberships. I ended up seeing the Unilocal deal so I used that instead and purchased 1 of their best beds and a mystic. Total after deal about $ 35. When I left the place I saw a billboard facing the traffic walking out not in. The billboard boasted a deal where you could try everything in the location for a week for about what I paid. The lady was too busy pushing commissions to realize that I may have signed on had I been treated better.
Beds: Do not have High Pressure Beds and the beds they have, certainly are not worth the cash spent. Goggles are not provided either. Not really that clean either.
Mystic: The mystic was not that good and they do not provide all the mystic essentials you typically find in a «spa».
Service: The team is not friendly as a whole

I purchased a discount coupon to try the place and and it was a waste of money. First off they take established customers first and book you so far out that you forget you have an appointment. When I was trying to book I asked why so long for my appointment and they said they take their regular customers first, then the coupon customers after that. I asked her how she thought they would get more «regular» customers if they treated their «coupon» customers that way? Was told thats how they do it so I threw away my coupon and went elsewhere.

Today was my first experience with a contempo spa and I must say Veronica made the experience really good.
Hydra station is very relaxing and makes you sweat like hell. Which is a good thing because I feel I lost all the water weight.
definitely a place to go back.

Okay let me just start by saying, I bought a living social deal 3 red light treatments, 3 massages, 3 facials, etc. I forget what else. Their facials/​massages are a JOKE! No body sits down and washes your face, or pops your pimples… no YOU put on the cream by yourself, and then sit under a bright light for 20 minutes. That is the CHEAPEST facial I’ve ever heard of! The massage, another joke, you lay under the bright light while you’re getting your «professional» facial and a roller rolls on your back and body while you lay there. The girls who worked there were putting on makeup during their off time, (very unprofessional). The sauna, is a little room where you sit and it’s about 3 feet wide 7 feet tall and 4 feet long, if you get claustrophobic easily I highly suggest avoiding this.
As far as the tanning goes, I’ve never been to a tanning salon, I’m already brown, don’t really need it, but maybe that’s their specialty! But please don’t go for a massage or a facial!
Oh and you have to BUY your own facial cream! Other facials I’ve gotten, the price of the cream is included right? Worst place EVER!

Summary: Review for ‘spa’ services only. Unilocal 1 star = Eek! Me thinks not. = enough summary?
Décor/​Location =Tiny place within Rivermark. The individual service rooms are open ceiling — You can hear everything in the lobby (i.e. phone, talk etc)
Service = This is a self service place. If you have a good informative greeter, you are lucky. If not, good luck figuring out the machines when you are naked in the room. :)
Issue 1) The Red light facial stuff is bright enough to blind you even if you close your eyes, but hey, you won’t get any eye cover due to ‘sanitary concern’. You can ‘buy’ your own from them. (hi. there is such thing as rubbing alcohol. consider that)
Issue 2) They will try to sell you all different lotions for the services. after you drill and drill to know if it is mandatory. then here is the answer — ‘Yes, it is optional, but you will have better results.’ (anything from $ 2 to $ 15)
Issue 3) We got one of those Living Social promotion. We lost half of the services because they have a tiny note that you have to use all of the 12 services within 60 days of the first service despite of the coupon expiration date. They will not even consider extending 1 day for us. However, of course, they try to sell us the membership. Nice try! Next time, they should be up front and indicate the 60 days limitation.
Value = Mentioned above already this is a Living Social deal. all I can say is no more for me.

I am seriously obsessed with this Planet Beach! I have been going to PB on and off for the past like 5 years and this is BY FAR my favorite one!
It is more than just a tanning place, and in the past I primarily only went to PB for UV Tanning or UV Free (spray) tanning. But, this PB has so much more than just tanning equipment. All the equipment is new, CLEAN, and well maintained.
My faves:
— Sauna– I love how it is private, one person only. You can sit in there comfortably (nude) or with a sweating suit and reap all the same benefits as saunas at gyms without having to be in there with other people.
— Hydro Fusion– makes my skin feel soooo refreshed! I could lay in there for hours especially because it helps get rid of water weight, cellulite, and other stuff. (if you go in they can better explain all the benefits!)
–Red Light Therapy– I’m pretty sure this is the coolest thing ever. It is reaaally good for your skin. It is a tanning bed with out UV light bulbs. I feel like I’m glowing after doing all three!
I love going in there because the people who work there are so friendly and always greet me by my name and literally know all there is to know about their services and equipment. :-)

I became an official member of Planet Beach Contempo Spa 2 years ago at the Curtner location. That location recently closed so I was forced to transfer to a different location.
I asked Tracy where she was going to be transfered to and she told me the Rivermark location. I was already comfortable of how I was treated by Tracy and among other friendly and beautiful staff at my home spa that I had to follow one of them to the selected location regardless of the drive.
Parking was not an issue whatsoever. Probably because my appointment is at 9AM so I was able to find a parking right outside the spa. The layout was different but feels pretty homey. There are more services provided at this location then my home spa. Which is pretty neat. (I’m thinking of trying out the others when I have the time) Overall, the transition from my home spa to my new one was a success.
Thanks to Tracy, the transition was smooth and stress-​free.

Great customer service!
I’ve always felt ‘taken care of’ when I come here.
Everything is clean. Staff is knowledgeable… You are able to make appointments. Appointments are honored and you are in and out quickly.
Problems:
Try to come here after the lunch/​dinner rush if possible. The parking lot is especially packed between 11:30a-1:00p.
I have a platinum membership which is $ 27.50 per month for unlimited tans per month as well as unlimited use of the upgraded tanning beds. I’ve had this membership for a couple of years now.
Love it here.
