History

Established in 1977.

Portuguese Bakery was originally established in 1977 by a couple who would bake their delicious and secretive family recipe Sweet Bread for their friends and family. They decided to open a small storefront to accommodate the growing requests for their delicious pastries. Soon after opening this first store they quickly outgrew the location and expanded to the location where it is now. In 2001 our family acquired Portuguese Bakery and it has been a wonderful experience. We have expanded our Baked Goods selections from a a handful of items to a wide variety. We now make an amazing Cinnamon Sweet Bread that is to die for and the different flavors of Biscoitos are endless. Of course, we have kept what has made Portuguese Bakery so famous. The Sweet Bread!

Gilbert C.

Manager

Gilbert has been running Portuguese Bakery since 2001 when the entire Couto family was involved in the Bakery. He has run and managed every aspect of the business since this time. One of his favorite things about running Portuguese Bakery is watching our customers’ reactions when they take their first bite of our famous Sweet Bread. It makes all of the hard work and long hours worth it!
