UMG installed «Blanco City» Quartz for me and my client. Working with Frank is always so easy, that is a given. UMG did an incredibly impressive job at an incredible price. First of all the installers were professional. Second of all they cared about if there might be a missing component, but there was not. Third this installation was just as beautiful and professional as the last one they did for me.
There were no chop cuts in the joints as with other-​fake-​out contractors. These guys factory cut it. I dare anyone to be as complete and quality oriented as UMG. For the quality of product I receive from UMG, I expected higher prices, but I always receive the lowest price per market value.
Thank you for being there for small guys like me.

They do great work. Did a bull nose granite counter top for my condo. Fast, great work and friendly service. It really breathed new life into my kitchen. The quality craftsmanship and high quality material shows.

I did kitchen counter top and wall changed to Silestone Quartz. Basically, UMG sell good quality material, my sales person Dylan helped me to go through the whole process. He replied each my phone call and email in reasonable time and is patient to answer my questions. I give them one star less from five is because it takes about 4 weeks starting from order placed to installation which is longer than my expectation.

I am thrilled with my new quartz countertops from UMG. Frank made the whole process run very smoothly and was even able to troubleshoot a tricky bartop in my kitchen. Their team was punctual, neat, and professional. I found their prices to be competitive as well. I would definitely use them again.

I dealt with Frank at UMG who was easy to deal with and very professional. They have a great selection of slabs and reasonable prices. They met their deadlines and did a great job all-​around. I will definitely go back again in the future

After reading many positive reviews, I decided to ignore a number of negative reviews which were posted a few years ago. My bad. Should have paid attention to them, especially since the owner never bothered to reply to the negative comments on Unilocal.Tells something about the business.
First the Good;
1) UMG sells quartz in small quantities if available — They also do the fabrication there so it’s very convenient.
2) The actual product was good quality. They fabricated the countertop exactly according to the specification given.
The Bad;
1) We were told that they were so busy it would be ready in 3 weeks from the day they came to take the template for the countertop. To make an appointment for the template, it’s an additional 1 week wait so in total, we are talking about 4 weeks wait time (as of August 2015)
2) The sales rep. said «We like to say 3 weeks just to be sure, but it would most likely be earlier than 3 weeks» In reality, it took OVER 3 weeks (From the template date!). The contract is carefully worded so that there is no guarantee nor penalty for them if they are late in delivering the product.
3) It took many repeated phone calls and many emails to get an update on the status of countertop from our sales rep, Dylan.
The Terrible;
1) The installation guys started sawing the mounting pieces directly on top of the brand new cabinet to install the countertop. They used our cabinet as sawing table instead of setting up their own makeshift table outside. They dropped wooden pieces directly on top of the cabinet drawer over and over. I watched them horrified (yes — I should have stopped them then and there but this was my first time ordering the custom countertop and I thought they knew what they were doing). After they left, I checked the vanity cabinet and sure enough, there were minor nicks and dings on the drawers where the wooden pieces had dropped. I contacted the company within 48 hours with pictures. This is when things really started to go downhill — they ABSOLUTELY refused to take any responsibility.
The installer took a photo of the countertop after it was installed. In their photo with dim light and from far, the nicks and dings on the drawer could not be seen. The owner (Manny) said they weren’t responsible for the damage because it cannot be seen in this photo, so the damage must have been done after the installer had left. The owner refused to send anyone over to come and take a look at the damage. The owner through his sales representative (Dylan) said that he would rather pull out the whole countertop rather than repair the nicks or deduct $ 100 from the balance and he wasn’t going to send anyone to even take a look at the damage in person. The owner never called or contacted us in person. The message was always conveyed through his sales rep, Dylan.
My advice is for anyone getting these countertops installed is to make sure you check and inspect the installer’s work THOROUGHLY BEFORE they leave your premise! (once they step out, there will be absolutely NO recourse to any damage they might have done during the installation). VIDEO TAPE the whole process. The owner will NOT take your word for it. Also, avoid getting Dylan for your sales rep. People who worked with Shawn seems to have gotten much better experience over and over.
2) For just 8 sq. feet of quartz countertop, we forked over $ 1500 (material + Fabrication + installation) and our sales rep Dylan kept telling us what a bargain we had. He said that within the last few month, the owner decided to jack up the price 100% because the business was booming, so he was able to sell the exact same amount of quartz for double the price ($ 3000) to another customer. However, recent Unilocal reviewer who had Shawn as sales rep seems to have received a great discount on the Quartz price, so it seems that there is no set price and the sales person gives discount (or not) as they see fit. Rather disturbing that they offer different pricing to different people. (Perhaps better customer service depending on who you are as well?)
Monarch designs (highly rated on Unilocal) also sells and fabricates Quartz countertop in small quantities and their quote was actually cheaper. We decided to order the countertop with UMG because we thought we were going to get a better service by paying slightly extra. We believe in «You get what you pay for» but in this case, I really wish we had gone with the Monarch designs and had given friendly family run local store our business. I also found out too late that there are many great stores on Junction Rd (near Brokaw), with stores after store of well stocked Quartz samples who would sell you partial amount of quartz and other natural stones. Many of these stores fabricate as well. Our mistake was we were in too much of a hurry to place an order. After our bitter experience with UMG, we would NEVER shop there again. From this store, you sure DON’T get what you pay for.

I got my kitchen counters installed by UMG. Dylan was very patient in answering our million questions, installers were great. Overall great experience. Highly recommended.

The only natural stone company we would use in the bay area. Professional and courteous staff which delivered within the short timeframe given to install our countertops… and the seams are almost invisible… could’nt be much better!

We recently remodeled our kitchen they did a great job I am so happy with the work done.
They have amazing service and highly professionals exept, the manager from the company I was really disappointed with the way he is with the workers he is rude and he made a comment that sounded racist to me… everything is great EXEPT THE manager I believe his name is John CRUEL way to treat people

I love these people! My new counters are beautiful and expertly installed!
We decided to remodel, in early October I ripped out the old kitchen, etc and then I had a complete meltdown over which quartz to use. Went back and forth looking at every version of white quartz from about October 1 until mid November. My husband went with me to UGM and we decided on a very dark, brown-​black brand-​new quartz from LG. (No wonder I didn’t like the whites!)
There was an expected delay as the product had yet to be manufactured. So, yes, my family went through October, November, December, and January with plywood counter tops and a jerry-​rigged sink! Actually, the funked up kitchen was kind of an adventure — we were still able to do everything we needed including hosting parties, Thanksgiving, and Christmas!
Then there was another delay, after the product arrived. I think I purchased and delivered 3 — maybe 4 — sinks to UGM before we found the one that was going to work best in our configuration. (Cast iron Kohler Executive Chef — love it — had one for 25 years!) UGM patiently waited for me to decide on a sink!
The installation crew was on time, neat, professional and the result is beautiful. The three of them lifted a heavy cast iron sink in and out of the counter hole many times to make sure the fit was perfect.
All through my indecision and waffling on tops and sinks, the crew at UGM were patient and informative. A very big thanks to Dylan, Shawn, Manny, Frank, John, Hector, and the entire installation crew.
These people are professionals and take the time to keep the customer on track! I completely recommend them.

United Marble and Granite are a first class company! I can’t recommend them enough! Amazing product, amazing service and highly professional. I will definitely be using them again. 5 star.

We recently remodeled our kitchen. When it came to the countertops we were referred to UMG by our cabinetmaker. We were looking for granite and they have a great selection to choose from. We initially narrowed it down to 3 choices and we were able to take actual samples from the slab home to make a final choice.
Great customer service beginning to end, with attention to little details, Shawn didn’t miss a thing. Excellent communication and suggestions. We inspected our slab prior to cutting and we were able to see the layout marked on the slab and how the cut pieces would fit. That was pretty neat. We had trouble finding a sink locally and UMG was able to get us a nice quality stainless sink and racks from one of their vendors.
Installation went well, almost impossible to see the seam between two pieces on the right side of the sink starting at a corner. Cabinetmaker couldn’t find it at first, so you know it was done well. Counters level, counter and sink overhangs perfect, holes cut to our spec and measurements accurate and square for drop in appliances. Very professional install done right.
UMG is a well known granite shop locally who does big jobs in malls, high tech businesses and high end shops. I believe they also do work for Lowes and Ikea. What impressed me the most was that they treat you well even if you have a small job like ours. Priced fairly and great customer service, doesn’t get any better!

UMG did our kitchen countertops a few weeks ago based on a recommendation from a friend. We had an excellent experience from start to finish. They have a good selection of stones in their Santa Clara yard but they also work with MSI (in Hayward) so they have access to a very large selection.
We worked with Shawn and Dylan and they gave us excellent advice and attention — even though our kitchen is really small and was a small project for them.
We took a quote from another company and it was at least 40 percent more than what UMG quoted.
I’ll definitely call them up again if I need any stone work done.

I just had UMG install my kitchen counters (quartz) and I am so freaking happy.
I went to the showroom several times and talked to Shawn and (shhh, his dad /​owner) Manny and I was really pleased with their level of knowledge, the amount of time they spent working with me, and the level of professionalism and service. Shawn probably talked to me for at least an hour on what kind of support I should get for my 15″ overhang on two sides. And they were super responsive over email. When they switched credit card payment systems and couldn’t run my card for a week, they started work without a deposit! How is that for trust?! Awesome.
They have samples in the showroom and slabs in back, and they will gladly cut you samples. You only pay for the stone you use, so you don’t have to buy a full slab if you only need ½ or ²⁄₃ or whatever. They have everything! They had that new Taj Mahal quartzite (so pretty), Caesarstone, Cambria, Silestone, this new synthetic that looks like leathered marble, but is indestructible.
Anyways, on to installation: They give me a window, and arrive on time (within 20 minutes of the start time). The 3 man crew started off by putting down drop cloths to protect my hardwood floors (already bonus points), then worked for 3 hours straight to install 4 sections of countertop, including an undermount sink, 2 holes for the dishwasher air gap and sink faucet, and a cutout for the cooktop (and they tested the cooktop when they cut the plywood, then again when they cut the quartz). And they cleaned really well when they left. They wiped down the cabinets, and swept the floor. it was literally cleaner than when they arrived. Oh, also, they did not dally for tips, but ran off to their next job. So professional! Tight seams!
Overall, installation only took 3 hours, including their lunch break.
Finally, on price. My contractor wanted to charge me $ 3.5k just for labor to install prefab (generic) countertops. After pricing out various options at UMG, I could get Silestone quartz for only $ 4.2k. Their prices are the BEST. I got quotes from three stone fab shops, and these were by far the cheapest. Also, they had the most types of edges for free, at least 5 or 6. I was able to get the double roundover I wanted, for no extra charge.
I cannot recommend UMG highly enough. I normally don’t care whether I go to a big-​box store or a family-​owned business, but I’m going family-​owned this time! UMG. did a fantastic, professional job for a great price. I will definitely use them for my next project.

I purchased kitchen cabinets/​granite through Ikea and was thrilled that UMG was the contracted vendor. I was initially hesitant due to personal reviews from friends and family, who had worked with OTHER stone vendors Ikea used, but decided to just go for it! The process was pretty simple, cabinets get installed, template gets made, slab chosen, counter top is installed, sign and date the satisfaction form then the installers leave.
However, the customer service and responsiveness of UMG is what really blew me away. Our kitchen ran into some planning and measurement issues (from Ikea, not UMG) that inhibited appliances from fitting properly but UMG was very understanding of the issues and did everything they could to make sure it all worked out to the absolute best.
The kitchen looks great, and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with how the stone turned out. Will definitely recommend UMG to friends/​family.

Don’t go anywhere else. I personally drove from the Danville area to work with these guys; specifically Shawn and Greg. Their professionalism, expertise and desire to help me get my projects done on time, is second to none. They did a 3-​slab project for my kitchen and a very complex semi-​circle for my business. Both were flawless. Their installers are also very professional. Lastly, they saved my butt when I tried to go «cheap». I had another fabricator on another project (before I knew these guys) and the fabricator blew it. Shawn, Greg and the team at UMG saved the day and fixed my slabs screwed up by another fabricator.
Go ahead and run around town getting estimates and looking for the next best deal, or DON’T! Call these guys and get it done right and at a very competitive price.

Upping the star rating. John reached out to me shortly after my initial Unilocal comment. The communication was much better the second time around and I was the slower one to respond in this most recent exchange.
The guys came down to try and fix the problem. They advised me on the downside of their original idea, so I decided to leave things as-​is.
Id probably still do business with them again.

We had a hiccup but I was happy with the work overall.
The incorrect slab was delivered by the granite yard so that caused some issues. However, the people at the company were responsive and got everything straightened out quickly. The work was great and everyone loves my counters. I highly recommend them.

For my kitchen and two bathroom remodel, I had decided on Cambria Quartz (Praa Sands in bathrooms and Windermere in kitchen).
Before I visited UMG for my kitchen and two bath countertop remodel, I visited and got quotes from Plamar (Home Depot/​Lowes), All architectural Stone, Monarch Surface Stone Solutions, Duracite (Costco), The Countertop Store, and Marble City Company. UMG actually does the stone cutting for Monarch Surface and Superior Stone.
UMG’s quote was one of the best, but after getting a referral from my Unilocal buddy Derek, started working with Laurenz Valera on the quote, process, etc. Laurenz is very good on email response, not so good via phone, always busy.
Nelson came out to take the template and was very friendly. Shawn was involved with the layout which was actually kind of fun, whereby you decide by laying out the template what stone piece you actually want them to cut. Then Fabien and team did the install. The length of time from template to install was 8 working days (not counting weekends), which is kind of long, but we had a temporary sink so managed.
My Cambria quartz when we went to place the order, had sold out as the colors were so popular that a second production line had to be brought up, but this would have pushed my install out 4 – 6 weeks. After discussing this with Cambria on their facebook page, they expedited the 3 slabs to UMG and I was back on schedule, only moving out by a few days. Goes to the show the power of voice, facebook and Cambria truly cares about its customers.
If you contact Cambria nicely, you can arrange a visit to their Hayward distribution center, whereby I viewed the full size slabs.
I went with a seamless quartz install all around and UMG accomodated as I had my cabinet maker (CMT Woodcraft) build it to 54″ and the slabs come in 56″-57″ so they could do so. Fabien and team did a very nice install, the double bevel edge is perfect, you can’t tell where the join is, even with the veining and movement. The cutout the holes for the faucets, soap dispenser, air gap and cleaned up afterwards.
I still had to go cut out the plywood from underneath using a hole saw so the brackets on the underside of the cabinet could screw thread onto the faucets, and soap dispenser.
Overall, I give 5 stars to UMG, their pricing is competitive. They have a small showroom whereby you can view the 12″ x 12″ quartz tiles. Their staff are very helpful and know what they are doing. I highly recommend UMG and will tell all my friends, co-​workers and relatives about their great work. Very pleased with the countertop install, backsplash install and window ledges all in quartz.
