Ken & Joe’s Honda Kawasaki

Okay, so why 2 stars? One is for them answering the phone and getting to me promptly. The second one is for taking the time to look for a recall on my 2016 KTM Freeride 250 R. He could not find one (will follow up with the dealer I bought it from to find out if the notice they gave me was a mistake).
Unfortunately, when I asked him if they could take a look at tuning it up, because the idle didn’t seem like it was running right to me. Without asking me a single question about how I might have come to this conclusion, he actually said to me (and I quote), «Yes, well that’s how a 2-​stroke runs.»
Okay, so first thing, I’m a woman (did he maybe make a few assumptions that he shouldn’t have made about my skill level and/​or knowledge of how a 2-​stroke should perform)? Perhaps so. Bad assumption!
The next call I made was to ESP (a suspension specialist in La Crescenta). First thing the guy said to me was, «Oh yeah? The tuning on the KTM Freeride seems off to you? Well, I’m not surprised, they tend to ship them from the dealer running too rich, as a general rule.» «Is that right?» I said. He then proceeded to offer me some very helpful suggestions on what I could do right off the bat to make a difference. Never asked me what my skill level was, nor did it appear to make a difference to him that I was a woman asking the question.
After taking the bike in to them, Bud found that the idle jet needed to be replaced and the needle position was set too rich for this bike to run efficiently in the first place. Thank goodness for ESP on that one!
Bottom line, if you want to get helpful service information, and you are a lifelong rider of dirtbikes (and also happen to be a woman), don’t waste your time calling Ken and Joe’s for helpful input. Or else be prepared to have your skill level and elementary knowledge of the basic nature of 2-​strokes versus 4-​strokes questioned.

Love this place. The guys and girl behind the parts counter are very helpful and alwase kind. If they don’t have somthing in stock they get it for me with in a day or two. Highly recommended A+ :)

If you are trying to put a take off tire on your bike don’t even bother going here. You can have plenty of meat left on it and they still won’t do it. Plus they’re overpriced.

Jim in the service department recently oversaw an HID headlight install on my CBR, it came out perfect visually with all the hardware and wire harness concealments, I highly recommend them for specialty installs.

I will save you a big long story and just tell you that Jim in the service department was extremely helpful and I recommend this dealership to anyone needing service or parts.
I have been trying to get my KTM registered and there have been complications due to a recall performed on the bike years ago. I called these guys up looking for any information they could give me about the recall performed and Jim stayed on the phone with me until I got what I needed. Then Jim was cool enough to inspect the bike one Saturday and gave me the recall paperwork that I needed to give the CHP.
I wasn’t paying for any service or parts and Jim knew that, but he still helped me out with my predicament and for that, I will send business their way anytime I can. Thanks so much guys!

I had a service performed on my PCX 150. Ran great before, ran great after. They honored a price given to me over the phone that was different when I arrived in person. No complaints, seemed like a straightforward easy going crew of employees.

Well… I am a huge fan of KTMs, so when I heard the new 1290 Superduke R was coming out, I Headed over to Ken and Joes. They happened to have an orange one on the showroom floor waiting for me! Rick the Sales manager, as well as Tommy the sales associate helped me out and made my dream a reality! I have since had it in for the first service. Kent and Jim made sure everything was taken care of and made sure they went over everything that was done. Now, anyone who knows me, knows I cant leave anything stock. Scott and Chris in Parts dept. always take care of me and make sure i have everything I always have everything I need.
If you guys are looking for a great dealership for that new bike or get parts or service for an existing bike, look no further than here. I trust them with my Ktms!

I was given the run-​around trying to return a $ 70 sproket for 6 weeks.
I was first told I would get a refund, but it would take a week. OK
Then I was told I would get «in-​store» credit, but that process would take another «week» (I gave them 2). OK, kind of disrespectful since I would have spend $ 70 easily in that store within a month getting oil, grips, bars, clothes, a stand, a filter and a chain. Sort of mean to corner someone and force them to buy in your store when you just want a refund for an unused sprocket, especially since my family and I had spent hundreds of dollars in there for Christmas presents trying to buy locally.
Then I was told that I need to wait for the Renthal rep to come in and possibly send it to the manufacturer and back ect… That same day (after waiting the entire day for this myserious «Renthal rep» to come in) I went in person to the store and took my property back to sell on ebay and write this review.
Worst of all, every phone call I made and every time I went in to see what was going on with my refund, Chris was being quite dismissive and acting like he had more important things to do than deal with my refund. Two calls lasted under 1 minute.
I was being quite nice and accepting of a return taking a week, or 2, or 3 but after 6 weeks, I am done and this is unacceptable service. Especially when being given a run-​around by a dude who didn’t seem to care at all; as if it’s NOT his job to handle customers. I felt like Chris was thinking that I would forget and they would be able to keep $ 70 + the sprocket.
Absolutely unacceptable service for a simple return. The entire experience has forced me not to shop there anylonger because this time it is $ 70, what if I brought my motorcycle in for hundreds of dollars of service? I only need to get screwed and disrespected once to learn my lesson.
Buy online. Motosport has never failed me and their return policy actually exists.

I was never, not one time, given a phone call or email or text about the status of my return. I had to call and drive to your shop for any information on what was going on. And your shop barely gave me the time of day (probably because I was trying to get a return and not buying something.)
Also, why would you sell a product you know I can’t return if I even open it, and not tell your customer?
Chris took my phone number and name down multiple times, in conjunction with absolutely no response as I explained earlier, I had no choice but to take my property back and handle it myself.
The point is that for 6 weeks, I was ignored, forgotten multiple times, and given ever diminishing promises, ultimately ending in nothing.
I was extremely forgiving and understanding, week after week, promise after promise. Your company kept me on the hook, baited me in circles until it became too disrespectful for any normal person to accept.

The guys that work there are so friendly we went in and they were super helpful even with us only buying a $ 20 item .i had my kids with me (aka noise makers) and they even gave them race stickers. We will be back. :)

Where do you begin a review when every facet of the place you are reviewing is amazing?! I wanted the new CB500X with ABS. Rick talked to me on the phone and gave me a fair price. I wanted a 12 volt outlet and heated grips along with a center stand installed. He priced it all out and communicated with me very well. SOLD!
The service department is stellar. Craig, I believe his name is, was awesome. Everything was installed and looks as professional as you would expect. I felt like the people here actually care about the people they are helping.
I picked my bike up on the 25^th of October and I could not be happier. I will continue to visit this shop for service and a future bike for my wife.
If you have any reservations about going here, DONT! They are all good people!

It had been a while and it is time for an update.
The Service Department: what can say, they are a pleasure to deal with. Took the Mrs. bike for the 600 miles service (shame on you Honda for requiring valves adjustment at 600 miles)., but I digress… The Service Staff were great, welcoming, professional, and attentive to all my inquiries. Bike was returned on time. A couple of weeks later I had to go back to rectify a recall from Honda (shame on you again). The Service Department did not have the bit in stock, I was told to leave my number and that they would call when the bit arrived; I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call back less than a week later. Again their service second to none. Well done!!!

It’s about time Santa Clarita got a first class bike shop. So many people in Santa Clarita did business outside of Santa Clarita when SCV Motorsports was around. Once they went out of business Ken & Joe’s came in this valley and we had a place to do business with.
Lets start with the service department. Took my bike in a few times to have some work done. Always got it back when they said it was going to be done. Always happy with the work they did.
As for the sales department haven’t got a new bike since they have been around, but are always super friendly when I walk in.
Now what can I say about the parts department? These guys are what makes this place the best around. Always super friendly. I walked in today to order a few gaskets for my bike. Yep like I said to order those parts because most shops wouldn’t have them in stock. When I walked in I was greeted by Scott. He said hi Tom how’s it going? I have not been in this place for a few months and was shocked he still remembered my name. I told him what I need to order and he looked the parts up. OMGosh Scott said we have those two gaskets in stock. I guess that means I will be back on the road tomorrow. Can’t tell you how happy I am about this.
I sure hope this place is around for a long. I’m a customer for life!!!

I purchased a 1999 Kawasaki ZX-​7R several months ago. I have been taking it to Ken and Joe’s. The service team has been fantastic. A few days ago I stopped by to get my bike checked because I heard noise from the front end. Jim, the service manager was short staff and book solid for the day. He still took time to do a safety check for me. The noise was coming from the chain and sprocket that needed to be replaced however more importantly, because of the inspection Jim saw that my rear tire was worn down dangerously low. This bike is my only transportation 60 miles to work and back. Jim made sure I got a new tire and was back on the road that day safe and ready for work the next morning… A consummate professional. He put my safety first and I thank him and his team for that.

Made a decision to purchase a new KLR 650 New Edition and wanted to do it without the hassle and negotiations typical of buying a bike/​car. I sent e-​mails to every dealership in the greater LA area as well as in the Phoenix area (have family there so wouldn’t be too hard to buy there either) and requested their best and final price out the door.
Almost every other dealership tried the back and forth game, asked what other best prices were, and some just flat out lied until I showed up cash in hand and then tried to add to their quote. The only place that was honest, fair and competitive from their very first quote was Ken & Joe’s and I highly recommend them.
Rick was the sales person that fielded my e-​mail inquiry and was honest, easy to work with, and up front about everything. The entire team made it easy, treated me like family, and had me set up and out the door quickly. A few nice touches that you rarely find — after the purchase was done they introduced me to all others on their team (parts/​gear sales, service department, management, etc.) and let them know I purchased a bike and if I needed anything or had any questions they were available. Additionally, a few weeks after the purchase, Rick called and asked how I was doing, if I enjoyed the bike, if I had any questions, etc. Very nice touches.
I would highly recommend contacting anyone at Ken & Joe’s prior to buying anywhere else. They are competitive in their pricing and provide superior service and support.

Pretty easy to get to and has a nice selection of parts and gears. The guy at the counter was very nice and ordered me a part in under a minute. The people there are nice but not pushy. I will get all the stuff for my new Honda here for sure.

Recently purchased a bike from these guys and it was a fairly smooth process. Fair price and not too much hassle getting the financed worked out. Sales staff was cool and easy to work with, and had no problem working around my schedule which was appreciated. I have not had a chance to use the service side yet, but I met some of the guys when I picked up the bike and they seemed fairly knowledgeable. I’ll update the review once I’ve used the service side, but for now a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

The sales reps are cool… would give them 5 stars as far as that but service is poor. Look for service somewhere else. Upon dropping off my bike i asked if I could pick it up the next day (take into consideration im driving 20 – 30 min for this service) and was told that was ok. Guess he didnt listen to what I was saying cus when i came to pick it up next day… it wasnt ready so I had driven 40 min to an hour for nothing. And when i did pick up the bike two days later nothing was really done to it and it was dirtier than it was when i dropped it off. Basic lube and inspections and such for $ 300+. but hey, i got a coupon to drop the service jus a little under $ 300.Save time and money and service your bike somewhere else.

The fact that i found a shop near by who is willing to do it at $ 150, picks up the bike, and does the job quickly makes this place seem sketchy.

I always try and shop at small businesses if I can in order to contribute to the community. My husband and I have bought 7 bikes between us from Ken & Joes over the years. They have always made us a fair deal from the bikes to parts and even accessories. The mechanics and parts guys are knowledgable and friendly, they always do a great job on my service and get me back on the road fast. I’m not a super easy customer to please, so that being said… Ken & Joes get my 5 star rating for being friendly, knowledgeable and fair.
As far as Matt W’s poor rating… he likes Saugus café, that should tell you something.

My bike was recently at Ken and Joe’s at the location that used to be Saugus Suzuki, so I’ve been going to this shop for years and recognize some of the people still. I bought a bike there when it was still Saugus Suzuki, and happened to need some service on a Suzuki GSX-​R 750 recently.
My bike spent 17 days at Ken and Joe’s…not for any fault of this shop but because of massive problems with the incorrect parts and bad instructions from Race Tech. This situation really tested the patience and ethics of the service dept. Anyone can perform well under ideal conditions, so this was a real test for all parties (including my own patience and problem-​solving).
The main thing I like about Ken and Joe’s Honda-​Kawasaki was that service point– man Jim and along with Garrett were frank and open with me about the things going wrong with incorrect parts sent to me by Race Tech, or the fact that incorrect Race Tech instructions caused them to ruin what was a perfectly good stock part (bladder cap). They could have covered this up in a variety of ways, but they were open and honest with me – allowing me full-​disclosure to help troubleshoot where to go next with resolution. After all was said and done, they worked to restore my bike back to normal so I could return the parts back to Race Tech. They also packed everything up quite nicely… even down to the stickers in the parts boxes. To me, this shows attention-​to-​detail and a level of conscientious care that matters a lot to me.
I appreciate Jim and Garrett’s honesty, availability, consistently keeping me apprised of the situation, being vigilant with trying to get in touch with Race Tech (including sitting on hold with tech-​support) and trying to get my bike back to me ASAP as various issues kept causing delays (including waiting for new parts with shipping from Race Tech and eBay).
They also did a nice job helping me check my sag for the rear shock and did some spot clean-​up on the bike before delivery… which is a minor thing but after such a messy situation, it was a nice touch and quite appreciated.
Anyway, 5 stars for these guys. I wish them great success and hope they can get that larger location so they can put Suzuki back up in their company name. With customer-​service like this, it’s bound to happen.

I down-​ranked to 4 stars after realizing that although Race Tech screwed up my order initially, and gave some wrong info on the phone (thus confusing the guys at Ken and Joe’s), it turns out that Race Tech sent some correct parts which could have been installed correctly.
I still like Ken and Joe’s, but it turns out that they simply didn’t know how to install certain RaceTech parts (but in-​part due to unclear directions, granted). When I actually went to RaceTech, they installed everything quite easily.
Would I go to Ken and Joe’s again? Of course! Would I have them install a Race Tech suspension kit? Probably not. Everyone has a knowledge limit, and I think I Ken and Joe’s had reached theirs with this Race Tech stuff, especially with the incorrect directions and wrong parts here and there. But, they’re not suspension experts and will do a nice job with general maintenance for your bike, no doubt. Then again, they may be experts with Race Tech by now. Call before you go and listen to what they have to say.
So, by all means go to Ken and Joe’s, but if you want them to do tricky suspension work, make sure you have the right parts and ask to make sure they’re comfortable with it.
