Studio 1 Dance Academy

Studio 1 Dance Academy is the best dance studio in Santa Clarita! My daughter and I have been to several studios in the valley, but what I can say is that Studio 1 is completely drama free and everyone is so kind, friendly, and welcoming. My daughter has been at this studio for 2 years now and I know that Studio 1, hands down, has the best training in technique, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, tap, tumbling, and hip hop. The staff is incredible, the owner is an amazing person, and the teachers are THE BEST! The owner, Jan Frishette, always brings the best dancers and dance teachers from the industry and we are so thankful for that! All the teachers care so much about their students and are so supportive! I’m so grateful to be at Studio 1 and I highly recommend this dance studio!

I was really disappointed with the treatment there. I took my 6-​year-​old daughter there for a free trial hip hop class. When we first arrived a lady approached me and asked me if I had talked to someone about attending the class, then she handed me the registration paper and that was it. When i walked into the class, I introduced the dance instructor to my daughter and I told her that she was nervous. The instructor never addressed my daughter. My daughter stood to a side while everyone started stretching. The instructor never tried to get my daughter to participate, she just ignored her. I decided to leave and no one noticed or said anything. Not all kids are super outgoing. Some kids need a little push. Some times it takes a friendly instructor to make the student feel confidant. if that’s what you are looking for DON’T go here. This was the first time my daughter had ever tried a dance class and it wasn’t pleasant!

Our two daughters, ages 3 and 9. have been going to Studio 1 for over 6 months now and not only do they love it, they’re really learning and improving at an amazing rate! Having tried two other local dance studios and one when we lived in the valley, we see a huge difference in the quality of instruction here. You definitely get what you pay for and the proof is in the remarkable improvement our daughters have made in the short time they’ve been there. They never liked going to their previous dance lessons but they love their teachers here and are excited about going each time. The difference was quite obvious to us when it came to seeing all of the dancers of all ages perform at the recital. The overall skills of the Studio 1 dancers at all age levels were far greater than the dancers we watched at the other studio’s recitals. The wall to wall trophy cases with first place trophies you’ll see when you walk in the studio say it all. Your kid only lives once so if you want them to really excel in dance by learning from top tear instructors, this is the place to go.

I can’t speak more highly of a dance studio! My daughter started dancing in the SCV 11 years ago. I only wish we started her at Studio 1. There absolutely is no better studio in terms of technique! If your child has an ambition to make a high school dance team or beyond there is no other place better. In the two years my daughter has been there she has completely transformed her dancing skills.
I also cannot speak more highly of the owner Jan Frishette who truly is a gem in the dance world. She believes in providing the best teachers in order to make the kids the best they can be without the typical dance drama I’ve seen at other local studios. She’s taught and mentored 4 other local dance owners who wouldn’t be where they are without her guidance. If you want technique, this is where you go!

I encourage anyone interested in dance for their child to try Studio 1 Dance Academy! You will not be disappointed! My daughter began dancing at age 3. She is now 12. We came to Studio one a little over a year ago. The improvement of her technique and confidence is astonishing! The instruction is without a doubt the best in this valley! All the instructors come with outstanding credentials! The family atmosphere is just the icing on the cake! We have created friendships that will last a lifetime! My only regret is not coming to this studio sooner!

Studio 1 Dance Academy is amazing!!! My daughter has danced there for eight years now and she LOVES it! The studio is made up of a tight knit group of dancers and supportive parents. The teachers strive to teach good sportsmanship as well as exceptional dancing. This is a «no drama» studio. Everyone supports and encourages each other & my daughter gets to see her «besties» every day.
Studio 1 is known throughout the valley as the studio to learn technique. The teachers ensure that the dancers are well stretched before dancing. They also take time to work on strengthening the core & upper body. This creates strong and balanced dancers. They are adamant about proper placement of the body when working on tricks. This reduces the chance of injuries. I have heard that dancers as young as 12 have had to have hip surgery because of improper alignment during tricks! Don’t let this happen to your child.
They have an amazing staff of teachers as well!!! The hip hop teachers keep current with the latest trends, and their enthusiasm keeps the dancers working hard. The tap teachers bring imagination and fun to the choreography. The jazz teachers are amazing in their creativity and style. The ballet teachers are meticulous in their corrections and are able to teach all levels from preschoolers to pointe. And the modern & contemporary teachers put together beautiful routines! They also have a brilliant theatrical dance teacher known for creative dances.
I can’t say enough good things about this studio. Weather your dancer is just learning to pirouette or is looking to build their skills to make the High School dance team, they have the teachers to get them to the next level of achievement.
