Takumi is no more. Last Friday was Brian and Angies last day. Opening soon with new owners.

This review is not for their food. This is what happened. On Sat I wanted to meet a friend in the area so I asked if he wanted sushi. He said yeh. I said let’s go to a place called Takumi, I asked him to look on Unilocal and see if he likes the place. He pulled up the reviews, and he said it’s AYCE. I said«really? I didn’t know, I went there many many times, I always only order from the menu, I didn’t know they also have AYCE.» So I called the place. Here is the conversation. Me: «Hi, I would like to ask if you guys also serve AYCE?» Takumi(«T»): «Yes, we have AYCE.» Me: «Oh, I didn’t know, how much is it? And do you guys close after lunch?» T: «It’s $ 23.95»(I actually can’t remember exactly, somthing like that) «No lunch break» Me: «Is that for lunch or dinner» T: «That is for dinner, lunch is $ 19.95(can’t remember exactly), but it’s almost 3pm now, we’ll charge the dinner price.» Me: «Ok. I will come over now.» T: «Sure. See you later» So we drove there, arrived. The place look dark and not«ready.» This is the conversation Me: «Hi, r u guys open?» T: «Nope. Under new management, it’s open on the 6th.» Me: «I thought u said it has AYCE.» T: «Ya, we do have AYCE, but we aren’t ready until the 6th this month» Me: «Ok, thanks, bye.» WTF!

Delicious food and amazing service. The husband is the sushi chef and the wife is the waitress. They are extremely friendly and attentive. I will come here again.

Definitely my and my husband’s favorite sushi place. We have never left this place disappointed. The staff is great, very attentive, and welcoming. The place is clean, cosy and the food is always fresh.

The food and service is great, yummy and attentive. Period checkups, clearing plates and napkins, one area doesn’t get cluttered, that’s for sure. The baked salmon roll was gone in 90 seconds and the sushi combination went well with the Nabeyaki Udon, the best part was the perfect egg inside the broth that held up all the way until I got through halfway. Definitely will be visiting again.

The service was great. The sushi was average. I’m a little disappointed in Unilocalers with their 5 star review. I spent about $ 70 for 2 of us. I enjoyed the salmon, but very underwhelmed with the tempura and albacore. Albacore did not taste like it was fresh and it was falling apart on the sushi. The eel had a strong, fish taste. Most likely will not return for the quality and price I spent.

Upon walking in, greeted promptly, seated within a minute, given a menu a few moments after — perfect. The sushi was incredible. Although portions are small, it was tasteful. I enjoyed it aesthetically as well. We ordered what sounded like a lot of food but really wasn’t because of the portions. But I thought it was the perfect amount to be able to try everything and genuinely enjoy it. I am a big spicy tuna lover and let me tell you — their fish is such good quality I wanted to savior every bite. My boyfriend ordered a crunch roll and to our surprise it was so delicately prepped that it didn’t have an abundant amount of crunch around it. It was just perfect. It is also priced appropriately. I thought it was justified considering all factors(area, fish quality, service). Will be coming here again as I was very impressed! Thank you for such a fine establishment. Best regards, Kristina.

Very good food … And extra good service !! I will definitely go back. The Calienta roll was so good just the right amount of spicy. My boyfriend had the Snow White roll which I didn’t try but it looked amazing also. He said it was very good. We just went there for a small lunch but looking forward to going back again and trying more rolls that they have.

We have yet to order a dish we don’t like. Seriously, you can’t go wrong here. First off, Brian and Angie are awesome! The service is super friendly and attentive. Angie has an eye for remembering familiar faces and gives you a warm welcome. Brian can make just about anything your heart desires and they are open to making customized rolls. We recommend the T.N.T. Roll, the crunch roll, sizzling albacore sashimi, and(if you like spicy) the hot night roll. But again, if you don’t see anything exciting on the menu, just ask! And check the chalkboards around the restaurant for specials and beer listings. We’re new to the area and have been desperately searching for a new go-to sushi spot. Very thankful we found Takumi. Can’t wait to come back!

I was excited about coming here based on reviews I read. However the real life experience was not nearly close enough to those reviews. Below are my observations. Sushi pieces are more expensive for the same quality. Sushi cuts, from observation, were smaller than other local places serve. They serve you drinks in plastic cups. I’m not accustomed to paying $ 90 for lunch while sipping from plastic cups. No AC. It was plain hot inside with just an open front door to keep the air moving. My wife sat down on a chair that was wobbling and on the verge of falling apart. The chair was in really bad shape. I grabbed another chair nearby and exchanged it. The wasabi was the cheap, soft kind and wasn’t even spicy. The two rolls we ordered, Paradise roll and crazy Philadelphia roll were okay. Paradise roll was better than expected. Other local sushi places give free edamame as an appetizer, but not here. Our other preferred sushi place even gives a free dessert. Green teas, both hot and cold, were good. Flavorful and authentic. Service was good. Greeted right away, server came by frequently to see how we were doing, refilled drinks promptly, and cleaned up used dishes. Ambiance was okay. Aside from being hot inside, the remodel was simple and an improvement over the previous design. They have not won our business over just yet. We ordered two rolls, paid our $ 30 bill and drove down the street to Love Sushi were we completed our lunch meal.

This place is such a gem. It’s located in the Stater bros plaza. I just love the ambiance of this restaurant. I came here once for lunch and once for dinner. Try the garlic edamame. It is so flavorful and delicious. I’ve tried 3 – 4 rolls here, and they were all very very delicious. I would say the rolls are priced very well and the portions are perfect. My bf got the teriyaki both times. He likes it cause it’s simple and good. They also serve craft beers that pair very well with the sushi rolls. I can’t wait to come back more often.

We went here a while back, like, two days after the new management took over. We decided to give it a shot, even though we were looking for AYCE at the time, and oh my, were we happy we did. The place looks great, and the staff and chefs were friendly. I promised I would review as soon as they opened the new Unilocal page, but I forgot until just now — while we were thinking of where we wanted to eat while in CC tonight. I will update my review after dinner this evening with more details! tl;dr:Do eeeet.

Love this place! It’s a family owned business. This is definitely my go to sushi place in Canyon County. I love the staff. They go above and beyond to make sure you’re happy. Always smiling and checking up on you. Don’t forget to try the lemonaid!

The name Takumi just changed on Unilocal from Akasaka Sushi & Grill so my original review was lost. Takumi is much better than the place that was here before and definitely worth a visit.(Below is the review I wrote back in January) I had the sushi(4 pieces) and sashimi(6 pieces) plate. The fish was so fresh it was glistening. The plate was large and filled with plenty of rice and salad to compliment a good meal. The presentation was first rate. All in all it was well worth the $ 19.95 My wife had a California roll that was covered with baked scallops and mushrooms. The bowel was large enough that she was soon full and I helped her finish it. They were really good and both of us are looking forward to seeing the friendly people who own this establishment again and trying more of their good food… My wife and I have been back several times since then and every roll or meal we try is a new feast for the eye and for the pallet. Last night I ordered the Udon. Without question it took best Udon in the SCV crown off the head of poor old Mr. Sushi There is more than just great food here, Angie, Brian and their family have created an establishment that is warm and inviting. The love they put into what they do is in every dish. It is that magic flavoring that can’t be described but sets everything above the rest. After only a few visits we walk in and it feels very much like going to a friends house for dinner.

Takumi took over Akasaka — a positive change! We have been there four times now, and the service and food have been great. They recognized us the second time and thanked us for returning. It is a family run business. Angie serves, husband Brian is the sushi chef and other family members are in the back kitchen. The sushi is delicious. The fish is fresh, and the rolls have good flavor without being doused with sauce. I personally appreciate the fact that they do not have AYCE. Places that are AYCE usually compromise quality and service for volume. The tempura is light and crispy too. What I appreciate with Takumi is their awareness of the wait time. It’s expected that a new restaurant may be working out the kinks(and may be slower to serve). Both times, they apologized for the wait and offered us a complimentary item. Truthfully, we did not notice it at all.

One of the best sushi restaurants in the SCV. Chef Brian puts together amazing concoctions that bring out the flavors of the fish.

Fantastic food and services! The Mexican roll, far surpassed my expectations and the classic California roll was fantastic! They also really had mochi ice cream, which many places say they have but never seem to have it in stock when you order it! The only issue that we had was a small issue with the check, but that was quickly resolved and the waitress handled the whole situation very gracefully. Will be dining with them once more! I highly recommend it!

Incredibly fresh fish and all housemade sauces to accompany rolls. Head chef Brian and waitress Angie are always asking what is working and what isn’t for you, willing to listen to the customers and make sure everything is perfect. The mother in law is a great addition to the place as well! I recommend asking for the yellowtail mint leaf appetizer Brian made for me one night. I keep bugging him to put it on the menu. Overall good food each time I’ve been here. Good service. Good prices. No waiting for 30 minutes to an hr and a half like the other scv hotspot. I highly recommend giving this new place a try.
