History
Established in 1998.
CHK was conceived by two Santa Cruz foodies, Dan Alper and Charlie Deal. Dan, the engine behind the development of Noah’s Bagels and Charlie, a local chef/founder of Oswalds. A year or so after a successful start-up enters Darryl (a friend and business asssociate of Dan) and Carolyn Rudolph. They brought their passion and love for Southeast Asian street food, Darryl’s extensive background in food service, and the vision of feeding communities healthy, yet highly flavorful, sustainable food. Their fundamental approach to the business is based on generosity, and a desire tto succeed by including all stakeholders – customers, employees, and vendors in business decisions.
