One of the first things you might notice upon entering the lobby, is the preponderance of greeting cards on the walls. Chris and the guys and gals are the friendly sorts you might want to send a Christmas and/​or thank you card too. They are down to earth and easy to talk to. They answer your questions and walk you through the often stressful process of getting your vehicle back in shape after an accident. I hope not to be back, but I will definitely return here in the unfortunate event either of my vehicles needs body work.

The guys at Chris’ are so helpful and you can tell that the really care about the customers, the cars, and their work. I was rear-​ended and the person at fault wanted to pay for it out of pocket but Chris personally took a lot if time out of a busy schedule to talk to both me and the person at fault as to why it was best to go through the insurance company. My car was fixed quickly and it looks as good as new and they saved me a lot of stress through a long drawn out ordeal with the person at fault. Grateful that previous Unilocal reviews led me here over some of the other insurance recommended places with less than glowing reviews and hopeful that my review will do the same for them in the future!

I just can’t say enough about how Chris Bordner’s Body shop is a jewel in this town. Having had the unfortunate luck to need this body shop twice in two weeks I now know shall I ever need this type of service done again for my car I will not hesitate to come her even if I move out of Santa Cruz.
Not only does this shop do outstanding work but Mr Bordner truly goes out of his way to make sure you get the most complete job done on your car not letting insurance companies cut corners… fighting for your cars value and safety.

Only when an issue arises can you truly access a person’s character. In Chris Bordner’s case, his company did a fantastic job repairing the damage caused by a fallen redwood across my vehicle. Later, we had a problem with our window washer. Cadillac stated that it had been put back together incorrectly. These things happen, but Chris Bordner stepped up to the plate and did not hesitate to reimburse us for the expenses charged. Chris Bordner’s impeccable body work and even more honorable character, has gained our patronage for life!

Chris is such a friendly and knowledgeable owner. My car looks brand new with the work done on a Highway 17 bumper car accident. He informed me about how Volvo painted their bumpers and they come prepainted and no worries of matching. Checked alignment of my trunk latch and back plate. Would recommend this body shop and its even AAA guaranteed another plus.

Always does what he says he will do. The best body shop in the county. I have known Chris since he was with the old Santa Cruz Acura dealer at the same location. I have taken my cars to Bordner’s and no one else, he is that good. If A.J. Foyt lived in the area, he would take his NASCAR vehicles to Chris.

These guys are completely professional and did a great repair on my Mini Cooper. Fast service and meticulous work. You would never know the damage ever happened! Nice people too. I would highly recommend this shop.

I have had two cars at his shop and both times he did everyhting he could to ensure i got the best value possible. One was an insurance job and the other was out of pocket. Duke is honest and friendly and simply awesome. He’s helped me out twice now, and he’s been very generous with his time, and he totally understands the importance of trying to save money. I almost wanted to hug him last time I was there. As a girl, I’m used to auto repair shops trying to take advantage of me – but that’s not what happens here. :)

After getting in a fender bender, I searched for a preferred body shop with the at-​fault party’s insurance. Chris Bordner worked with both my insurance and that of the at-​fault party, and positive reviews here and elsewhere led me to choose them. I am happy that I did. Not only is it a family business, but Chris and his wife watched my son for me briefly while I moved car seats from my car to a rental and vice versa, and their daughter also helped me in this process. They were patient with my needs as a newer parent with a young child and this can’t be said for many people these days. Chris personally test drove my car after the repairs were made to ensure it was in sound driving condition. When I received my car, it looked as good as new. I definitely recommend this body shop. Service is of great importance to me, now more than ever, and I received great service here.

Super team! I’ve dealt with Bordner twice now; once on an insurance-​related, major body repair, and once on a mundane window replacement.
The insurance paid repair to the rear of my Chrysler was flawless, with body folding removed well enough that it escaped notice of the dealer to whom I traded the car a year or two later, and the paint match was a dead, perfect match. They very much returned the car to like-​new condition.
Fast forward two years, and I took a different automobile, my partner’s, in for a personally paid, non-​insurance job, a window replacement. The job came in 60 dollars cheaper than Safelite’s quote, EXCLUDING the additional 20 that safelite wanted for a curbside repair. The work was complete in a short afternoon, and the team found other slight issues with the window frame which they repaired gratis. The icing on the cake was that my car was returned with some additional random scratches removed, and the glue from my taped-​on plastic window cover meticulously removed from my paint without a single flaw.
Bordner’s is a family business, and it shows– they’re an absolute Santa Cruz local gem. When people trumpet the «buy local» mantra, Bordner’s Body Shop is exactly the kind of business that I like to visit: Less expensive, better quality, friendly, and conscientious. They’ll have my business for life (though hopefully no more fender-​benders for me.)
