History

Established in 1992.

Founded by lifelong Santa Cruz native John Cameron in 1992, Coast Lock is a family run business. John is a second generation locksmith, having worked at his father’s locksmith business cutting keys and rekeying locks after school, then full time in starting in 1985.

Although born in Watsonville, John spend his youth taking the bus to Santa Cruz to hang out at the Mall and worked at the Boardwalk in his teen years. Music was also big in his life and he spent many weekends playing the Crows Nest, Catalyst, OT Price’s and even as the Dream Inn house band for a few years!

Other than training offered at his Dad’s lockshop (Pajaro Valley Lock in Watsonville) John participated in training with Dave McOmie (one of the most respected safecrackers in the US) and has worked on safes for the Army, Navy and Coast Guard. Also considered an Access Control specialist he has been called away as far as San Fransisco for discerning customers wanting only the best for their private homes.
