The only shaper I call. Always helpful and never condescending with my kookish questions :-) I have a custom 9’6″ and 8’2″ egg from Michel. They’re beautiful boards, and ride great. Great guy, and great boards.

I’ve been riding Michel’s boards for nearly 30 years, from short boards to long boards to guns, and I have never had a board that did not work or was of poor quality. As a surfer I am able to call Michel and have a discussion with him about what I’m looking for, how I want to surf a board and the type of waves I’ll surf the board in. Through this discussion Michel has always shaped me the best riding boards! You can also do this with ease. He is able to take your information and transition it into a surfboard that works. Michel is a master shaper and craftsman, and produces the highest quality surfboards. Michel is a great guy, easy to talk with and able to explain every aspect of surfboard design and construction. You will not be disappointed. I’m going to order a new long board in a day or two! That’s how stoked I am.

Got a custom board late fall. Since then i have ridden the board in various conditions up to double overhead walls. This board is fast & loose, just as i asked for and handles sizable waves with no problem. Michel has years of experience to draw upon and is easy to communicate with regarding what kind of board you need. I will definitely return for future boards

After getting an number of super positive recommendations from my friends who have been riding Junod boards –I just had two boards shaped by Michel. A higher performance longboard and a «Big Five Diamond Tail.»(A big guy short board) He is excellent at listening carefully to your needs and then consulting with you to develop the right board. Michel is highly professional and the boards were built on-time. Michel is a super friendly guy and is really easy to work with. Now for the really important part: Michel built me a board that has transformed my surfing!!!(The Big 5) It is a wonderful combination of speed, stability, float and quick«turnability.» Awesome.

This guy is super cool and does awesome work. I came into his shop and we started talking about my surfing and what I wanted, and we decided to go with his tri-fin swallow tail design. I showed him what I wanted the board to look like and he matched the colors exactly, completed the board in 2 weeks(a week earlier than he promised), and it rides like a dream. I will definitely be going back to him when I’m ready for another board.

Surfer, shaper, legend, Michel is as real as they get. I called him up out of the blue(emailed first, actually), and was amazed at how responsive he was. Within a few days I was sitting in his office talking shop, and it turns out that he’s an all round nice guy. Every time I had a question about a certain feature he took me out to show me a real-life example, which was very helpful. About 1.5 hours later I left his shaping den with a smile and some photos, already impatient for the month-long wait he had promised me. Turns out he underpromises and overdelivers, because I got a call last week(week 3) and was told that the board would be ready early — unbelievable! Of course, the final piece is beyond perfect and rides like a dream, all at roughly the same cost of an off-the-shelf variety. That, and it has MY name on it :) In short, if you’re thinking about getting a board from Monsieur Junod, don’t think — just go ahead and do it.

Michel rules! I ordered a board from him in July in preparation of my move to San Francisco and the heavy waves at Ocean Beach. I went to his studio, which was filled with tons of boards for inspiration and ideas. Together he and I decided on a 7’2″ Single Fin Mini Gun with a «star» tail. He helped me through deciding on the rest of the specs. After looking at some of the other boards I decided on a couple of very unique resin colors. Within three weeks Michel had my board shaped, glassed, polished and ready for me. It looked insane. The resin pin line was hand painted, the glass job was beautiful… a deep purple base and rails with a fuchsia deck. Because it was built for big waves, I didn’t have a chance to ride it until about 2 weeks ago. Sure enough, a big head and a half to double overhead swell hit OB and I pulled out my new Junod. I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to duck dive it, but Michel reassured me I’d be ok. Sure enough, he was right. It worked so good! It paddles so fast, screams down the line, and turns clean and smooth. Possibly the best board I’ve ridden. It’s fits my surfing and my size beautifully. I never knew a board could feel so natural! I recommend Michel to everyone! He is experienced, knowledgeable and his customer service is second to none. His stoke is contagious. He’ll make you smile and build you the best board you’ve ever ridden… I’m about to order my 2nd of many from him!

Michel Junod is a surfer/shaper with many years of experience, he runs this shop out of a warehouse in a complex, and I called him earlier to just give him a heads up that I was planning on stopping by his shop and wanted to check out some of the other boards he makes. He was really friendly and even let me walk around his shop and check out the facilities, needless to say if you walk in you will notice that this is not your traditional surf shop that is full of surf accessories and brand name clothing lines. This is a actual shop, with people in partitioned rooms, cutting/shaping the blanks, applying color(their color work is simply amazing), glassing the boards and polishing them. The boards that were on display were boards that were already pre-sold, so you really can’t just walk in off the street and buy one of his boards. He is a shaper, he can make a board to fit your specifications, surf style and turn the board so meet whatever specific needs you may be in need of. He does longboards and shortboards and just about everything in between, and after seeing all the designs and rich colors on the boards that I don’t typically see, I’m so inspired that I am now sketching new designs and set-ups for a new board that I’ll update this once I add one to the quiver…
