I used to go to the Boardwalk every summer as a kid. Now that I am older, not nearly as often. Finally got around to making another trip down and the first place on our to do list was«eat at that Mexican restaurant just across the street from the arcade». We had so many great memories of that place that I wanted to pass on. I am truly hoping that this isn’t the same restaurant. The ambiance was bad. The service was crappy. When they were asked a question, instead of just answering it, she pointed at a dry erase board dismissively like she didn’t have the time or desire to answer the question. The restaurant was relatively full and people were eating, but I didn’t overhear anybody exclaim about the food. Years ago, I remember sitting and waiting for the food and people all around us were exclaiming how good the food was. After a half an hour wait, our burritos finally came. They were wrapped in aluminum foil, which would be alright for a local taqueria, but not what I expected after I had looked up their website and noticed they accepted reservations. Accpeting reservations implied to me a very nice restaurant. I don’t expect my burritos to come wrapped in aluminum foil in nice restaurants. The food itself was mediocre at best. The carne asada was much better than the grilled chicken, but still noting to write home about. One of the burritos was half full of lettuce, while the other had just one slice. No consistency. The guacamole was pretty darn good and the only reason I rated a second star instead of just one. The salsa that came with the chips before our food arrived was pretty nasty. Chips and salsa are a staple of any Mexican restaurant. If they can’t get that right, I suggest staying away! Oh yeah, one last thing: the table top was all torn up and not something I’d expect from a decent restaurant, let alone one portraying itself to be a nice restaurant.
