Go Green Cab!

I’m so sad to be updating my review like this. I called this morning, at 8:00, and asked for a pickup at 8:30. The guy who answered was snippy, only asking «where are you at» before hanging up. No name, no destination. Okay, I get it, its early and not everyone is a morning person.
Car trouble dissipated, and I no longer needed a cab. So I call at 8:15 and let him know. I was then lectured by this kid, «Okay well just so you know in the future we don’t schedule anything because then we can’t take other calls.»
First of all, don’t lecture me. Secondly, that’s nonsense– I was able to schedule a pickup with Boomer no problem when I had to take my cat to the vet a few months back. And lastly, don’t tell me that guaranteed business is an inconvenience to you, when half the time the driver doesn’t even answer the phone (I called twice before he picked up, and Go Green is notorious for this).
So, in summation, taxis in Santa Cruz are horrendous, Boomer is still awesome but Go Green needs to step it up with employee screening. GO UBER INSTEAD!!!

Super nice drivers, and they’re burning biodiesel so that’s cool. Gotta say that the cars are in pretty rough shape, but it’s a beach town, so I get it. No big deal. I definitely recommend them if you need a ride in Santa Cruz.

Showed up quickly within 20 minutes (and we live in the boonies). Nice driver no complaints. He took my 17 year old to some friends and she felt safe. Can’t ask for more. Will use again.

I have had a few great experiences with Go Green… prompt, polite, funny, comfortable experiences with excellent drivers. I highly recommended this company until today. (I had two younger drivers but today it was an older man whom I haven’t met before). I called 30 minutes ahead of time to order a cab and, though I didn’t have the exact address, I gave an intersection of two streets and the hotel name. The driver was extremely rude and even insulting as he claimed that I was being vague and unhelpful. Personally, I believe as a cab driver in a city as small as Santa Cruz you should know where Chestnut Street is — I ended up finding an address to give to him. Anyway, the driver was late and did not even come to the right address after making such a fuss about it. Instead he honked at me from down the street. After continual rudeness I decided I was not going to tip him based on principle. After paying my fare and not tipping he rudely called me out on the fact that I didn’t tip. I doubt I will use this company again after that experience.
I give two stars simply because before this experience I would have given them five.

Boy, oh boy! Have these cab drivers saved me from a few pickles! They are so friendly and always punctual, and the bio-​diesel factor is great. Their knowledge of the fun spots to visit in Santa Cruz is extensive! Go Green Cab!

Loved the concept, the car and the driver. Punctual, helpful and welcoming.

Yeah, the cabs were old school but the concept is great. The driver of this one man show was cool and would recommend him to anyone.

Was in Santa Cruz this past weekend. checked Unilocal out and found this cab company. Figured Id give them a shot and called about 7:30 the fella said he would head right over. Got a call in like 10 minutes saying he was at the hotel. Get out side and what do i see, a Oldschool Benz, wow their cabs are awesome! That’s right a SUPER CLEAN 70’s Benz. The guy was super cool, very knowledgeable of the area, where to go and what to do. Called them for a ride back to the hotel at about 11. Again super fast pick up.

Great service, great drivers. It’s just one or two cabs running at any time, so patience is good on a busy night. Great local business!

Just to respond to Jack, there is a certain charm in seeing bands like Rob Zombie and Primus play in old, dirty places like The Catalyst. What’s NOT charming is riding in a old, dirty, hoopty of a car to get there. Get the difference? Good. BTW, you don’t get much more «corporate» than a Mercedes, which is (from what I understand) all Go Green Cab uses…

Quick & friendly — Yellow Cab just lost much of my business

I love this company. The service is usually fast and all the drivers are friendly. In the past I’ve sent a text with a time and place ahead of time and cab was there right on time.

I called and accepted their 45 min wait. They never showed and subsequent calls went to voice mail. Ruined my night, don’t bother…

I’ve seen these cars around (80s-​vintage Mercedes sedans running on biodiesel), and being the moderately environmentally conscious individual I am, decided they’d be the best option to get me from the upper Westside to downtown on a late Wednesday morning following an injury that kept me from riding my bike. No biggie, right? They’re a taxi company… right? Wrong.
I initially called asking for a cab in half an hour. It didn’t seem to be an issue, and the gentleman on the other end of the line said they would be there. I got a call back about two minutes later — apparently one of their cars was going into the shop, so a pickup in half an hour wasn’t an option. I wasn’t in a hurry, and he said he could pick me up in an hour. I said that was fine. Half an hour later he called back, but I was showering. His voicemail exactly: «Yo, we got a mechanical issue with the car, we can’t pick you up.» That. Was. It.
Really? Not even an apology? No «we can pick you up later»? No reference for another cab company? Professionalism at its finest.
This seems to be another case of a local service-​oriented business getting by on the coattails of being a novelty «progressive» or «green» service and nothing else. I got downtown on the bus. Thanks for nothing, Go Green. Next time I’m drinking downtown and need a cab, I won’t be calling you, and I’ll be certain to inform everyone I know about my experience if they’re in the position of needing a taxi.

We used this cab company last night when we ran into one of the drivers parked outside the Red Room in Santa Cruz. The driver was super friendly and made the ride back home very comfortable. We had taken Yellow Cab Co. to go downtown earlier in the evening and that was a disaster so it was great to have a nice ride back home with such a friendly driver. Not only was the ride back home great but I felt nice knowing that I was using a Cab Company that uses bio fuel and cares about the environment. If you need a taxi in Santa Cruz make sure to call them first and don’t waste your time with the bigger cab companies that have unfriendly and creepy drivers.
