Great service, great furniture, great price. I’d been looking for two leather club chairs for months. I walked into their store and found the perfect chairs in new condition for half what I expected to spend. The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. We’ll be back!

After looking and looking for the perfect dining room table, I found it at Hager & Hager. I’ve purchased several pieces from this store in the past, but the table is my first big ticket item. Their furniture selection is impressive, and always changing so never static. It’s a great place for treasure hunting. Steve and his son Chris have a good eye for quality, and the prices are very competitive. Their original pieces, which are repurposed and cannibalized from other items, are ingenious. I bought a industrial-​looking cart that looks like it came straight from Restoration Hardware, only much nicer and certainly less expensive. It gets rave reviews, and is one-​of-​a-​kind. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Yes, this place deserves a 5-​star rating! We went in to purchase a trunk and ended up with a trunk, leather sectional and leather loveseat. All were on our list to find, we just never thought we would find them in one place on the same day. The selection of furniture is wonderful and appears to move quickly so there is a daily change over of quality leather and upholstered sofas, beautiful wooden dining and accent tables, rugs, art, trunks, chairs all unique and priced reasonably. Chris and Steve know their stock and are a wealth of information about the make and quality of each piece. I highly recommend this cool little gem even if you aren’t in the market for furniture. Never know what you may find here.

There are beautiful items here. The workers that were there the first time I visited were friendly and helpful. I came back to purchase what I wanted and the owner (I think it was the owner) was very difficult to do business with. The two main things that bothered me were that I got charged 30 dollars tax on a 95 dollar item??? I didn’t bother to question it because I just wanted to get out of there. Its a pretty bedframe and when I got it home to assemble it there were two pieces missing that attach the center support beam. This man gave me so much attitude, judgement, and non compliance questioning every question I asked like if I could borrow his tape measure or if it had all the nuts and bolts. He asked me if I was from New York implying that I should not be asking these questions. He was argumentative about everything kept telling me I didn’t know what I was doing when I was putting the frame on my car and challenging me verbally telling me I wasn’t going to be able to get it a couple blocks away. He complained that he preferred just selling fine art and didn’t want to have to deal with furniture. He would have delivered the item for me for an additional 25 bucks which would have then made the 95 dollar item with his 30 dollar tax 160 dollars. Blech. I also really hated that he repeatedly asked me to come to the back of a storage work area in the back of the store that looked really dirty dusty and precarious with all its tools and high stacked things. I felt like I shouldn’t have to say more than once that I do not want to go back there to look at a part of the bed frame and to please just bring it out for me. I was wearing clean clothes didn’t want to get dirty or hurt. It also bothered me that he was very courteous to the husband and wife couple that came in to buy a sectional. It was unfair and annoying. I felt annoyed also that he kept saying, «Who are you» and «Where are you from». It didn’t feel like he really wanted to get to know me or he would have not been so difficult to do basic business with. There was a book of Michael Parks art that I wanted to purchase he flat out told me it wasn’t for sale. It was weird. Supporting a local business shouldn’t be like this.

Fantastic finds, and a great resource for beautiful furnishings. I always find a treasure. The owner has a knack for finding exactly what I’m seeking– think personal shopper alas without big sticker shock.

What a great find! This store is filled with treasures and the prices are amazing! We bought two very cool lamps for $ 55 total! The owner Steve, was so impressive. He even recommended we go check out his competition. We will definitely be back.

A fun place to go and just poke around. The mix of furniture there has lots of unique pieces. My problem is every time I go I find something I want! The turnover is pretty quick though. If you see something you want buy it now because it will likely sell before you get back.

The owner, Steve, was so patient with me. I cruised in, «I want to buy a couch». He is super friendly and helpful with no pressure to buy… more like making a friend. I tried on every couch in the place, and changed my mind 3 times. I took up at least an hour and ½ of his time, and he stayed patiently with me the entire time, chatting and educating me. I did leave with a leather couch. And he loaded it into the truck for me. He’s got a new fan, and a regular customer from now on. His store is loaded with beautiful items, and now I want to upgrade everything in my house.

Steve has some of the best pieces of furniture, rugs, paintings, and at least one of everything! I stumbled into his store about a year ago and have furnished my home almost 100% with items from his store. He refinishes any flaws, will help cut legs off of a table to make it into a coffee table/​TV stand, great service and great prices. If you go any place go see Steve first! Great service and he’ll keep a eye out for that special something if you ask. He’s a REALLY great guy!

What a find!
I came here because of Unilocal reviews. I needed a dresser for my spare bedroom, didn’t want to spend alot, but didn’t want cheap particle board either. I checked out a few of my favorite Santa Cruz furniture place, and then headed over to Hager&Hager.
Fell in love with the place and the stock immediately. And Steve (the owner) is so welcoming! His place is full of quality furniture, art and atmosphere. I immediately found a dresser (he had just finished refinishing it). He held it for me, since my little car was full with my latest Costco run purchases.
The prices here are amazing. The quality is most impressive. You can really tell that the owner loves what he does. I saw several pieces that I would love to have. I will definitely be back.

I love this place! It is bright, airy and filled with reasonably priced items. There is a lot of turnover, so I drop in every month or so. The owner is pleasant and knowledgeable.

The collection is eclectic and the owner really makes an attempt to maintain an inventory of quality furniture. forget the laminates and cheap do it yourself furniture — this stuff is real wood, real furniture for real people.
The prices are extremely reasonable. I’ve bought several lamps, tables and other pieces of furniture there and it’s always my first stop when I’m looking for something (or if I’m in the mood to browse).
The owner is super friendly and really wants to establish a rapport with his clients. he makes an effort to thoroughly understand what you want and will try to accommodate your needs and wishes. The store can sometimes be like the barber shop with groupies that hang around just to chat.

This place is amazing!
Any of this furniture in downtown SF or LA would be triple the price.
The owner and his son are warm and friendly and so helpful. My boyfriend and I went in looking for a desk. We left with a vintage oak desk and matching chair for a total of $ 60!!! That is amazing in itself. They are a beautiful set!
There are some absolute gems here and the owner has amazing taste in furniture and art. I wanted to refurnish our entire home with this store.
It’s a shame he doesn’t have a website — I’d be sharing with my friends.

loved this store! the owner was very welcoming and nice. the furniture was in excellent condition as most is refurnished to some extent by the owner before resale. the prices were much better than similar stores i’ve been to in the area. i made 2 purchases and will definitely be going back!

Next to an Island-​themed garden store, you’ll find used furniture at Hager and Hager Consignment, and there’s a great selection of reasonably priced interesting pieces. I was there last week and noticed many rocking chairs, couches, table sets, lamps and bric-​à-​brac, all priced to move. Plenty of items in the $ 50 — $ 300 range for really nice stuff.
Definitely check it out if you like vintage furniture and support the local secondhand economy!
