Sawyer Chiropractic Group

I have been to Dr. Sawyer for 3 visits now and am finally feeling better after unsuccessful treatments from both my Primary Care Physician (who just prescribed pain meds with an apology that I was in so much pain) and Acupuncture Treatments that did not address the actual problem. I have suffered from upper back pain for years and more recently Pneumonia and excruciating rib pain from weeks of chronic coughing. I had an Xray at Dr. Sawyers office and received an informative and educational explanation as to what was going on with my spine and how it very much was connected to my rib pain and chronic upper respiratory issues. My rib pain was so bad that I could not sleep without pain medication and could not catch a full breath. I am definitely not «healed» but do feel I am finally recovering. I am committed to regular visits on an ongoing basis as I now Chiropractic isn’t a «quick fix».
He met with my Spouse to show him exercises he could help me with at home to help speed up my recovery.
I also love how efficient everything runs at the office with the swipe cards, schedule print outs as well as payment plan options and that they take CCAH health insurance.
They were also able to get me in the same day I called!

When I get telemarketer calls, my blood boils. Today I received one from a telemarketer calling from «a doctor’s office» trying to get me to come in. I asked to be removed from the call list, then asked for the name of «the doctor.» She told me it was Scott Sawyer, a chiropractor. I looked him up online, and called the first number, but it is apparently someone named «johnson» so I moved on to the second number (gee, that’s not fishy at all, is it?) and called that. The woman who answered the phone denied that they are using any kind of telemarketer, then asked for my name and said she’d try to get me off whatever list (you know, the one they’re not using). Shady as heck, right? Guess what office will never see me or anyone I know? Yep, Sawyer Chiropractic. Cold calling is NOT the way to get patients. It’s the way to alienate people (after you make them mad!).

Where is Melissa Clay NP??? She was the only reason I went to Dr Sawyer’s clinic. She cared for me as a person.

Not worth it. I felt like Sawyer Chiropractic did not really want to help me if I didn’t purchase an actual plan first. I came in because I had a coupon which gave me 3 or 4 visits at a discounted price and it seemed like a very good deal. But when I needed x-​Rays done, they would not tell me my results until the 4^th visit (which is when I would have to purchase a plan at full price in order to come back).
I felt the method used to align my back was kind of aggressive and scary. After the first visit, Dr. Sawyer even recommended I walk around outside for a while because sitting right away wouldn’t be safe. I have visited other chiropractors and had never been told that but honestly sitting really didn’t feel okay anyways so I walked around .
On the third visit Dr. Sawyer had his assistant treat me. I was experiencing problems in my left side and when I left I felt an immense pain in my right lower back. While trying to drive home I had to pull over and step out of the car because the pain was so immense. I called the office and cancelled any further appointments because going there was causing me more harm than good.
Dr. Sawyer called back and told me it was normal to sometimes feel «sore». I had told him that it was painful and in an area that had never hurt before but he insisted it was normal.
I never went back and now continue to get pains in both sides of my back instead of just the one side I was seeking help for. Choose a different chiropractor.

This is my third time here. My first time they checked me and did an x ray on me to see what exactly what was wrong. They were very nice and friendly and made me feel safe. The second time I came back to review my x rays. They explained thoroughly what was wrong and gave me a plan that would be affordable and easy to do. After my first adjustment I instantly felt better. I am eager to be a regular here and continue my treatment :)

I have one word… Cha-​ching!!! I went to this practice years ago, Dr Sawyer was arrogant. They convinced me to do xrays then sent 2 staff members/​salespeople in a room to meet with me and told me if I didn’t come in 3 times a week for 6 months my neck would get worse and they painted a dismal picture, I was practially in tears. No thanks. The hard sell is for car salesmen, not chiropractic. I never went back.

Update: Even though I am a regular Unilocal user writing a legitimate 5-​star review, apparently this business is one of the poor helpless ones that Unilocal’s automated filtering «algorithm» is unfairly targeting and so my review was thrown in with the other 25 filtered reviews. All that remains is one 1-​star review that’s from 4 years ago that serves as it’s only basis for their rating «average.» By the way, the DEFINITION of Average is: the result obtained by adding several quantities together and then dividing this total by the number of quantities; the mean. This means, by definition, that this rating they are locked into is total BS because you can’t have an average of one bitter review. The 25 that are filtered are all generally very positive, of course.
Dear Unilocal,
I am trying to become a regular user and enjoy this site as it’s intended to be used: as a great service to consumers, as a forum for review bloggers, and, from what I’ve witnessed but not experienced, as a cool social networking for your Elite community. However, I am having a hard time with seeing how Unilocal has unfairly impacted businesses and consumers alike. Computers CANNOT replace people!!! Your filtering system is very very flawed and lacks the human supervision it needs.
The WHOLE POINT of Unilocal is for users to get a FAIR and ACCURATE assessment of a business. I’m SO TIRED of missing out on great places after dismissing them over their Unilocal rating only to realized later they are victims of the Unilocal filtering system. I am EQUALLY tired of coming across not so great businesses that have wonderful ratings that are all false and yet these ones don’t get filtered.
It is also NOT FAIR that any person can Unilocal any business whether or not they chose to participate. Sawyer Chiropractic is a great example of this. A.H., who doesn’t even give a real name, is angry and writes a bad review. It cannot be deleted by this business and they cannot have their business removed. Unilocal,being so large and successful, is one of the top 5 results that will come up for a business in a search engine. The only thing they can do is sign up with Unilocal as a business and keep their fingers crossed that other people will give them a positive review since you’re not supposed to ask people to Unilocal.Of course it cannot be that simple. Now this rating serves as the basis for which others are judged. Just like new reviews from users who are not well-​established, if a new review’s rating is too far off the «average» then it will get filtered.

Choose someone else.
As a return customer of Dr Sawyer’s, I expected good service but was sorely disappointed.
Of the two times I came into the office (for a consultation and post-​consultation visit), I was kept waiting for 40 minutes each time, alone, in a little room. The receptionist who was also the chiropractor’s assistant went over my medical files with me – weird. Dr Sawyer refused to talk about both exercises I could do at home and about my treatment plan without my partner present. He presented me with a treatment plan of six times as many visits as my insurance would cover, and when I balked, said my partner and I should come in next time «ready to provide a number» that we are comfortable paying on a monthly basis.
The office feels slimy, greedy, and uninterested in my health. Our motives are completely different: mine are to get healthy within my financial constraints; the office of Dr Sawyer is interested in having me come in as often as possible to squeeze every penny out of me. As a pregnant university student, that is just not OK.
