Siena House Maternity Home of Santa Cruz County

Siena house saved my life and my child’s life. I was not in the typical situation that most women who came in were. I had a family, a place to live, a job, a car, a phone, etc. I went to Siena House because my soul felt unfit. I was lost. My spirit was weak and I needed the strength to move forward to raise my child. I felt very alone at that time. Siena House gave me everything I ever asked for and so much more. This place saved my life and my child’s life. I thought about giving my child up but Siena House was a huge reason that I didn’t. I am so grateful. I learned more than I ever thought that I would and I was able to build the beginning of my life with my child. I was in such a hard place when I first became pregnant. Without SIena House there is no doubt in my mind that I would not have been able to give my child the life he has today. Thank you so much Siena House. I owe you the world!

Siena Home is a homeless shelter for pregnant women and their babies. It offers women of various backgrounds and circumstances an opportunity to set their lives up in a way that supports the new baby. They offer parenting classes, money management strategies, therapy, a safe and stable roof over their head (and own room), and hot homemade meals. It has a committed group of people working towards helping these women that come to Siena House, including a Director, staff, interns, volunteers, and dhoulas, many of whom have walked alongside the women at Siena Home for years. This home is completely funded by the community of Santa Cruz through regular fundraising events and a host of dedicated volunteers that serve on the board overseeing the home. It was started to provide homeless pregnant women a safe space off the streets to bring their child into the world and has evolved into providing women the opportunity to change their lives, breaking generational cycles of addiction, poverty, and abuse. This center has changed the world one woman and baby at a time and continues to do so and is deserving of all the support and attention it deserves. For decades, this place has been a safe haven for women facing a crisis pregnancy. I know. I’m one of them.

Siena house is would be a great place from pregnant women that need a support during their pregnancies and the first months of motherhood. But from experience since Directors have change recently it went down hill. It’s a unsupportive house hold, caused a lot of stress during my pregnancy and depression being there. You don’t have a voice, how you feel does not matter, even though you are there by Choice not court ordered to be there. As director of Siena house Rebecca says, «Siena house is a PROGROM «which is not true, it’s a maternity home for women during A crisis. The board of Siena has a good vision for Siena house but will not be successful till they make a change with paid staff. Threw out my experience of Siena house staff and volunteers have said paid staff think they have higher power then volunteers and live on staff when they should work as a team not over powering the volunteers. This is from my experience from 2014 – 2015 good luck if you are thinking of living at Siena house, you & your unborn child will be in my prayers.

I would give 6 stars if I could. Siena house is w wonderful supportive environment for pregnant women. They help every step of the way in your pregnancy. I lived here for almost a year. There is a Christian basis to this house but noone pushes it on you. Great place!

Call these wonderful people if you need help and are pregnant. They will help you. I have not visited them yet but they were so great when I was trying to find shelter for a homeless pregnant woman. God bless Siena House!
