History

Established in 1999.

The roots of Sound In Motion Entertainment Group can be traced back to a warm summer day in Cupertino, California, where two soon-​to-​be 8th graders sentenced to summer school met on the soccer field and became fast friends.

Today, company founders and 17-​time Best DJ reader poll winners «DJ Adrian» Cavlan and «King Raffi» Nalvarian (Mix 106.5 and Live 105 radio fame) still love soccer (and hockey, baseball, football, lacrosse, golf, cycling… what else you got?) and passionately run what they believe is one of the top DJ, Video and entertainment companies you will find anywhere.

This was for a full time DJ & photobooth! Both of which were amazing for our wedding. The DJ played an eclectic variety of music with us just giving eras and genres. The online information packets and fill in forms made it easy deciding what songs we wanted and needed to make our ceremony & reception so much fun! DJ Frank was so fun and a good MC while also made things go smoothly even with day of changes to the entire timeline of the wedding. The photobooth was unlimited and a huge hit with a scrap book & digital copies of everything at the end of the night that my new husband and I enjoyed going through!
Will definitely refer to them again in the future!

We used Sound In Motion for a Corporate Event in January. They were fantastic to work with! Raffi and Shawn were consistently available when I had questions. We booked a DJ, Photo Booth, and Uplighting with SIM. Our event planning process was so smooth with the online event planning system SIM uses. It was very easy to edit the event details and to also input song requests. Our DJ Stephen played music that fit our event and kept everyone out on the dance floor until the very end of the night. The Photo booth was a great addition to our event — everyone had a blast dressing up and using the props to take silly photos. I liked that we were able to customize our photos with our Company logo and event name. They also gave us a thumb drive with all the images on it at the end or the night. We were very pleased with the outcome of our event and would highly recommend Sound In Motion.

Sound in Motion is an incredible company.
1. The price was incredibly reasonable and when you are having a wedding you try to save every penny you can. I went to the Bridal Expo and received a real deal.
2. They have a program you can access at home which allows you to add songs to playlists like: Must Plays, Must play background, Do Not Play, ect. And if they don’t have a song you are looking for they will add it. I found a separate composer for my ceremony and brought the music to my DJ and he implemented the music on his computer in seconds from my usb.
3. The DJs: My wedding DJ was Logan and he completely understood the style of music we were going for: Classic but not cheesy. My husband and I are not into a lot of the new music. My wedding ranged from Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr., Nat King Cole, to the Andrews Sisters, to Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, and Ellie Goulding ect. And Logan blended them beautifully, there was no awkward lapse in the music and it went together so well. Our dance floor was full for the whole reception except when people were eating, and all generations could enjoy our wide range of music. If you like classic rock, foxtrot, swing, and other classics: Logan is your man. I keep getting compliments from our guests saying that my reception was the funnest they have ever been to.
Logan was also flexible with my schedule, accommodating, even was nice enough to grab my husband and I water.
4. At Sound in Motion you get quality service that goes beyond expectations, kind associates, great prices. I will always recommend them.

Andrew Rivas had my guests dancing all night at my wedding! He was the perfect mix of a polished professional and music aficionado. He took the time to know my husband and I as well as our musical tastes, making the night perfect. He was able to edit a few of our ceremonial songs so that they fit perfect within our dances. As a bride it is so nice to know that your vendors know exactly what to do and require little direction. I can’t say enough about SIM. Book them today — you wont regret it. Oh, BTW, their electronic system for selecting absolutely must play and do NOT play songs is great!

Sound in Motion was very easy to work with from my first conversation with Raffi to the last dance with DJ Logan Andren. Logan came to our house ahead of time and met with us to fully understand the «feeling» we wanted throughout the party. He also met with The Holly Farm and made sure he understood all the logistics there. The Italian Dinner music was perfect as was the dance mix played later. Logan was friendly and professional. I’d highly recommend him and Sound in Motion for your wedding or party.

Logan and crew did an amazing job as the DJ at our daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. It was obvious that he really listened to us as the party atmosphere was even better than we had hoped for. The dance floor was packed the whole night! Riley and Tristan also were amazing «party starters». The kids loved learning dance moves and playing the games… they really encouraged everyone to get out there and have fun. I would highly recommend this team for any party!

This review is for Adrian Cavlan. We had our wedding at the Hollins House in May 2015 and Adrian was awesome. We met with him prior and let him know what types of songs we liked, loved, hated, ect and the playlist was PERFECT! Everyone from the little kids to Adults were dancing all night! He was the MC for our wedding and did such a great job. Everyone at our wedding was impressed. I have and will continue to recommend him and Sound in Motion to anyone I know — whether it is a wedding or special event!

We were incredibly fortunate to have Andrew Rivas as the DJ at our wedding. He created a great playlist (using a lot of the songs we’d requested!) and kept most of the guests dancing until the end of the night! Andrew was super friendly and easy to work with. He made us laugh, had everyone’s full attention, played awesome songs that everyone enjoyed dancing too, basically Adrian made our wedding a day we will always remember. Frank was INCREDIBLY easy to work with. I enjoyed meeting with him in person as well as through email correspondence. He knows his stuff and is an all around good guy. We felt like were in good hands from the get-​go. When the big day came, Frank made our day feel incredibility special. I had so much fun picking out the songs for the wedding and I loved the order Frank chose to play them. I received so many compliments about our music and DJ and couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. I also wanted to give him a special shout out for something he did to make a surprise for my husband even sweeter. My husband is a huge A’s fan so I secretly invited the Oakland A’s mascot «Stomper» to our wedding. We used Sound in Motion for our June wedding and they were awesome! Our DJ Stephan was attentive to details and read the crowd perfectly, everyone danced the whole night! Also, we had no problems with the microphones and everyone could hear us perfectly during the ceremony and speeches. Furthermore, we rented their photo booth which was a crowd pleaser and such a fun addition to the reception! I highly recommend this company for a wedding or event!

Adrian and his team of professionals did an amazing job with our reception last April in San Francisco. We had an unconventional location (Big Daddy’s Antiques) and they did a superb job of coming up with creative solutions to all of our needs and our vision. They provided DJ services, lighting and even some video services for a slideshow we wanted to play. The consultation we had was very thorough, their website helped us through the planning process and the team worked very hard the day of our even to make sure everything went smoothly.
Everything was fantastic and our guests had a blast! I highly recommend giving these guys a call!

I got married last year and cannot stress how amazing Sound In Motion was not only the day of my wedding but also beforehand. We were sent a very thorough survey to fill out so that they could find out what we were looking for. Then Nick called my husband and I and walked us through the entire night. He had already read the answers we gave to the survey and then helped us with the things we were unsure about. He was open to everything we wanted (and we had a kind of weird request for the garter toss which he was totally onboard with and helped us make it even better.) and patiently answered all of our questions… and we had quite a few.
The day of the wedding he made sure to check in with us and talked to our bridal party to make sure he had all of their names right, before he announced them. He made sure to keep the evening on track and played all of the songs we had put as must plays. Everyone said how much fun they had at our reception. We danced all night and had a great time.
I think a good DJ is an essential part of a wedding and Nick and Sound In Motion were not only good they were great. My wedding would not have been as amazing as it was without them.

We had a great experience with SIM! Brandon DJ’d our wedding and he did an amazing job! He was very pleasant and easy to talk to and everything went very smoothly throughout the night! My husband and I had a general idea of the kind of music we wanted but no specifics and there were a lot of things we hadn’t thought of but Brandon was great at navigating these issues with us!

Back in October we had a opportunity to work with Sound in Motion specifically Brandon Portillo, he was to say the least a AMAZING DJ, he took control of the party and did not disappoint. Brandon was a very easy to get a long with and helped my wife coordinate the wedding time line, which was a amazing help being that she was a real life bridzilla. At the end of the night Brandon even helped us pack our party away and offered to be a sober driver for some of my not so sober friends and family.
I would highly recommend Sound in Motion for any special event you may have, I am sure all the DJ’s at Sound in Motion are awesome but if I was planning another party or event Brandon would be my guy!!!

I work at Highlands Inn in Carmel in the Catering Department and can only say that Sound in Motion truly has a reliable, consistent, fun and professional set of DJs. I always feel confident recommending them to my clients and knowing that they’ll do an absolutely incredible job! All the members of the staff I’ve met have always been fantastic and have great follow up with both myself and my clients throughout the event planning process.
I recently used Sound in Motion for an event we personally hosted, and I didn’t have a lot of planning time (vacation and life getting in the way), and they did an INCREDIBLE job without having hardly any direction other than where to be and at what time!!! That takes a VERY talented individual and I’m so grateful that I have such a trustworthy company to recommend and know everything will go off without a hitch. Every single time!

First of all, we love Logan. He was awesome. I don’t know if it was the music or the alcohol, but everyone was dancing their asses off on the dance floor.
He met with my husband prior to the wedding to get a sense of the flow of the wedding, etc. On the day of, Logan provided lapels for our officiant, was prompt and everything ran smoothly.
30 mins before our grand entrance, my husband decided he wanted special introductions for the wedding party. He provided Logan with the script and Logan did a phenomenal job with the last minute request and hyped everyone up! He even took song requests from my 4 year old nephew and made sure to give him a special shout out.
Logan is super approachable and a fun loving guy. I would def recommend him!
