The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District, or GLACVCD for short(yes really). Is one of many locations sprinkled across the state that seeks to educate and battle vectors. A vector is any living creature that transmits infectious agents(Think mosquitoes but not exclusively). These men and women work several departments in one location. They have: *an executive section — mainly pencil pushers and«I do not get these 80 $ trousers dirty» types *a lab rat section — poke and prod vector samples and look down scopes), *a field team — these folks go out around the county and check stagnant pools of nasty for larvae. They also wrangle up possible vectors for the lab rats to toy with. They get four stars because we here in Southern California have yet to experience a vector borne epidemic and they deserve a little credit for that, but they also only get four stars because of their inflated salaries. Seriously, the least skilled, field personnel(sorry), get paid better than the median yearly income in California(that number is skewed high due Hollywood and Silicon Valley) making them paid well better than the average Californian.
