La Posada de Santa Fe, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa

Great spa and Yvette is a life saver. Had a bad coloring session at a local hairdresser. I called
La Posada and Yvette saved the day. She was able to take my hair back to its original color.
Whether you r a guest or live in Santa Fe-​I highly recommend Yvette. She also gave me a fantastic manicure.

The hotel is really pretty and the front staff was really nice and helpful. Also the valet guys were super nice. They went above and beyond to help us with our requests because we travelled with little ones. A couple of things could be improved like the ac in the. room didn’t work and the room was really tiny :(.

La Posada is a quaint hotel located in the heart of old town Santa Fe. Like several other Unilocalers, I was underwhelmed with the resort and don’t quiet agree with it belonging in the luxury collection.
:Pros
–La Posada has history and identity
–The grounds are picturesque
–Lively bar and restaurants
–Walking distance to Canyon Road and a few other sites
:Lukewarm
–Valet only — There were a few times that the wait was over 10 minutes.
–Service — Hit or miss…
:Cons
–The rooms are a little small and the layout is a bit odd.
–Queen sized bed– Where is the king?
–The bed was LOUD
–No dresser — Seriously?
–The closet did not have a lighting. I’m mentioning it, because lighting was needed. However, there was a flash light in the closet to assist.
–Thin walls — We could hear other patrons in adjoining rooms. Our neighbor was just on his phone, but we were able to overhear the entire conversation.

Update. After my husband called the front desk, someone from the spa finally called me back. I ended up booking a few spa treatments and everything was excellent. The pool is lovely and I enjoyed — delicious meal from Julia’s in the Sun. The Asian woman that works the front desk at the spa absolutely went above and beyond to take care of me during my spa day. I will absolutely return. My only suggestion is that the spa front desk hire another person to answer the phone and make appointments.

I wish there was a 2.5 rating. It was up and down with this place. Beautiful grounds. Really pleasant people. Lots of issues. Heater was broken in room along with the bathroom door. Took forever to get the car back from the valet. The room is lovely. It’s walking distance to everywhere you want to be. Hit La Palacio for breakfast by the way, less than 1 block away and really cute and good for kids. Overall it was ok but I wouldn’t stay here again, not worth the $$$

Just got back from a delightful stay at the La Posada resort. As platinum members we were upgraded to a casita with a living room and fireplace. The grounds were beautiful and we ate outdoors the first night by the fireplace. It was a treat. Special thanks to Amanda in reservations who saw to our upgrade and sent a nice cheese plate to the room in honor of my wife’s birthday. Look forward to our next visit.
As a post note I have to say how impressed we were with the entire staff always greeting us with smiles and asking how our days was. Thanks again

When we arrived at 1:30 the young lady said our room wasn’t ready even though we had an early check in. She said the she would call housekeeping and have it ready in an hour. We also asked her to extend our stay one extra night. She said OK but didn’t. She had the worst personality and should not be at the front desk. We waited in the bar and checked back and she had left for the day and the new guy said it still wasn’t ready. We left our car and luggage with Richard the valet person and he was Fantastic and finally he got us our key and made sure the room was ready. When we got into the room the patio had a ton of leaves that they failed to remove. Richard called but we still have a patio full of leaves. He busted his tail to make sure we were taken care of. It’s a shame that the front desk help didn’t care as much as Richard did. Richard deserves 5 stars but the check in got 2. Not Impressed so far. It should be better for a Star Wood Property. Hope it gets better we have 3 more nights.

I am a loyal SPG member and stay at Starwood hotels very frequently. The luxury collection is a new feature I have been wanting to try for some time. Unfortunately, I don’t believe La Posada belongs in the luxury collection.
The pros, the quaint hotel has history and identity. From the outside, it looks to be a very nice boutique hotel. The spa is excellent. I did not have a treatment, but the facility is well kept and has a running steam room and men’s locker room.
The cons, the rooms are a bit small and have an uncomfortable layout. They look nice upon entering, but the feeling once you’re inside is not the same.
The big cons, if you are unfortunate enough to stay in a room near a wall that has a heater in it… RUN. There will be a nonstop tapping/​almost banging sound that will last day and night. The hotel staff sent an engineer out to the room 4 – 5 times on 4 – 5 complaints. As we are checking out today, the sounds persist. The average person would not be able to fall asleep with this water heater orchestra playing from the wall.
However, the nice lady at the concierge did credit some of our room charges due to the heater noise grief.
Friendly staff and cute hotel, but probably would not stay here again.

This was a very comfortable experience for us and our four legged family members. This resort is pet-​friendly! Our room was well appointed with a fire place and a patio. The staff were all very friendly and professional.

Terrible. Caters to geriatric tourists. While having the appearance of being a luxury hotel, this monstrosity suffers from a poorly trained management and staff. The valets were rude and inattentive, the front desk was chock full of attitude, our room was tiny and filthy. This hotel treats anybody under 50 (young professionals included) like absolute scum. Don’t stay here. Ever.

Stayed here for 3 nights on points and was very pleased with this hotel. Our room was very nice and clean with a huge bathroom and very comfy bed.
All the employees were super helpful and friendly. The location is great as you feel you are in the heart of downtown but it’s so quiet.
The other nice piece is a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within a two mile radius of the hotel. Made it very easy for us to go to dinner on a rainy night and not worry about parking or getting soaked.

The room was great. I stayed at one of the suites with a fireplace, couch & desk. It was nice overall. Being able to have the fire going while its drizzling or a little chilly as is the pool and jacuzzi. The grounds are pretty nice and it’s very convenient to have the valet parking and be in walking distance from nearly anything. Especially the 100 art galleries along Canyon Road. If not they offer a shuttle which is nice as well. Overall good experience. The only minor issue was that they didn’t have the room originally ready by the time it was requested and approved prior to arrival. But not a big deal.

Sometimes, on vacation, in an unfamiliar city for the first time, walking about town, I get hotel envy. That’s right, passing by accommodations not my own and telling myself I could somehow be doing this trip better.
This time, I felt something different. I felt confident that I’d chosen wisely, and that La Posada was the best Santa Fe had to offer. And let me tell you, that’s an excellent feeling. Even after experiencing a few snafus (and we’ll get to those later, so as to not kill the mood right now), I would come back here in a heartbeat.
La Posada possesses a laid-​back luxury vibe versus perhaps something trendier or more pretentious. It’s quintessentially Southwestern, almost existing in a specific time and place all its own, from the red chile ristras (decorative, strung clusters of dried red chiles) adorning the property, local art everywhere (including my favorite of the Staab House collections, a portrait series of Native Americans wearing sunglasses), and the adorable adobe houses that serve as hotel rooms (which frankly feel more like little condos).* They’re even dog-​friendly — I passed a few pooches pretty much each time I stepped out my door. And last but not least, it’s a perfect location, within walking distance of downtown.
La Posada boasts six acres of property, and takes up most of a Santa Fe city block. However, in resort terms — or how I’d previously defined «resort» before staying here — it’s small. In Goldilocks terms, it’s just right — for me, at least. Do not envision some sprawling, all-​inclusive, beach paradise — this is not that place. That place is Punta Cana. Still, La Posada offers up a lot of the same amenities, just on a more intimate, compound-​like scale. The saltwater pool and outdoor bar was a perfect spot to spend some time in the sun. There were resort-​wide activities and gatherings available to guests, like the mouth-​watering BBQ we attended, complete with live music. And the spa was top-​notch and extremely accommodating, especially when administering maternity massages (for my expecting wife, not me). If it’s a babymoon you’re seeking (and yes, I hate the term as much as you), La Posada seems just the speed for that type of trip.
Now, about those snafus. 1) We waited an hour for room service that never ended up being put in until I called to check. Management did the right thing by firing the order and taking care of the bill for us. 2) Same thing happened when we called for our car with the valet — when we arrived, they said they never got the request. Either their phones are piped into some prankster wrong number or I’m inclined to believe the laziest person at La Posada picked up each time. Although annoying, I tried not to hold it against the hotel at-​large, given how much I truly enjoyed my stay here.
If you’re visiting Santa Fe, you’d be hard pressed to find accommodations as representative of the region as this lovely Southwestern resort. Simply put, it’s a serene, art-​filled oasis. Do yourself a favor. Avoid hotel envy. Check into La Posada.
*Note, these rooms are all unique and come in various shapes and sizes, so I’d ask what’s available so you know your options and you can get what works for you. We had the choice between a first-​floor, 600-​square-​foot room by the road, or a second-​floor (mind you, this is the highest floor for the property), 400-​square-​foot room near the center of the resort. Despite the smaller size, we opted for the second one, and it was still more than spacious enough for the two of us.

Pros — Close to the Plaza, the resort grounds were pretty, food/​food service and valet was good.
Cons– Resort prices for mediocre luxury. Our room was old, super squeaky floors, and the bathroom fixtures were not affixed well and very small. We had a two room «suite» with doors that didn’t close. The king bed was too big for the room size. I had a pedicure that was not at all relaxing or worth the $ 87 (tip included) that I paid. I have had better pedicures for much less. Massage was included in the package and you could tell. It felt impersonal and she just went through the motions. The «relaxation room» is not at all relaxing. Save your money and either go to the LaFonda or spend a little extra for true luxury and go to the Four Seasons.

I wanted to love it but rather it was just bland. If you like to be spoiled this probably is not the place for you. I am disappointed to think this is a Starwood luxury brand and people would pay $ 400 plus a night. If I would have paid I probably would have been complaining but since my room was free I dealt with it. My room was gorgeous but it seemed like there was lots of items broken. The safe, shower, door, fireplace (it was summer though). The pool is real small. The property is nice but not a whole lot to do on it. If you are trying to just relax sure maybe but I expert more from a resort. Lastly it takes forever to check in and check out even if you are platinum.
Lastly there is a resort fee of 30 which does not include much but your valet. Boo!
The good

We came here for an overnight stay for our anniversary. They gave us a great rate for government employees. They let us check in early. The room was clean, roomy and felt luxurious. We had slow service at their bar and grill but it was 3pm, not a prime time. Also they got our order wrong but gave us the meal they brought for free. Everyone here is pleasant and friendly.

Over all the stay was great. When we arrived we were treated great and the room was clean, very comfortable. The only bad thing was when we went to have breakfast no one want to service us. We sat for about 8 minutes and after seeing two other groups get service before I and my wife. The host and other wait staff walked by out table numerous times without acknowledging us sitting there with no coffee and we left. The host did say that our server was coming but didn’t bother to see if we wanted coffee.
I was happy to see a SPG place in Santa Fe for I am a member. But no next time. I think it was Hispanic on Hispanic discrimination

Luxury stay in Sante FE, The la Posda speaks volumes in service and ambiance, you can get lost taking in all the art. Restaurant was charming! would def stay here again

As a SPG Gold member, I always trust and stay at Starwood hotels because they have never disappointed. This charm of a hotel is no exception! The grounds itself is Santa Fe architecture at its finest: adobo, lanterns, fire, and art to name a few. The gym was small but had everything I needed including water, towels, headphones, and apples. Their food and drinks were great (though not too much of a fan of their breakfast). Another cool perk is having a personal driver do nearby drop offs. Every single employee I came across embodies customer service. The room was very roomy with a fireplace, double sink, separate tub and shower. I couldn’t get enough of the fancy toiletries either– had to sneak some into my carry on to take back with me.
I look forward to returning to Santa Fe and knowing this place exists!
