Patrick J. McQuitty, DDS

For all of the bells and whistles, this doesn’t live up to what it seems. I’ve had several problems with billing, several problems getting in to see the doctor (very personable, but never around) and several problems with the main front desk person being nice, then being nasty and argumentative. I believe the staff member at the front who deals the most with billing. And mind you, I always pay everything immediately. I, too, had a problem with the lady combining accounts. She told me I approved combining, which I didn’t. She kept arguing the point until I realized she has no idea and will just keep arguing with a client to prove something instead of remedying the problem. I had a cap replaced not long ago and immediately had trouble with it. I have to have it redone. The office didn’t seem at all concerned with that. In fact, it took a very long time, even as a client, to get in when I was having the trouble in the first place. In the interim, my gums grew over the spot and a laser was used. That would have been fine if it worked. Mr. McQuitty is very personable, but I wish his dental work matched his personality. I was hoping, with all of the great equipment and in-​house cap making, that I had found the right place. And it’s scary when you can’t get in during an emergency or if you have a lot of pain. So disappointed.

Even the most dreaded dentist visits are better than imagined. Gentle methods, on time, professional, and kind — highly recommend for near painless procedures, state of the art dentistry.

Found this practice on Unilocal.Moved back home and needed a new dentist. I love getting me teeth cleaned and can be particular when it comes to it.
The technology they use was painless, fun, and impressive. That staff is friendly, accommodating, professional and knowledgeable. Great location (parking is probably the only negative, but just take change), efficient and on time.
Definitely going back, looking forward to the next appointment.

My first coupla experience’s with Dr. McQuitty (Dr.McCutie –Pie) where great. Sherry is super sweet and good at what she does. He is super handsome, funny, good at what he does, and awfully sweet, too. The office is nicely located in downtown SFe. I like them all, a lot. But— my last visit was very similar to the negative review posted below by Cindy L. where after having my teeth cleaned, he was nowhere to be found. had already split the office for the day. What? Therefore, I did not get seen by him… at all. Sooooo Santa Fe! Crazy, as I, too, had gone over all I needed with the front office gal when I made the appointment by phone. How did she miss that? I would not have driven all the way there for a simple cleaning! I really NEEDED to see the dentist (a crown he had done was acting up – and I had TOLD the gal that. and that it needed to be looked at by him again when I made the appointment)!!
It seems they may be more interested in/​concerned here with keeping the flow of income coming from cleanings than actual office visits with the dentist. Not sure why that is, but it’s not good. May have to also look at a new dental office. A shame ’cause I really like them all.

My appointment with Dr. McQuitty was on June 8^th, 2015. My dentist had left town, consolidating to his office in Albuquerque, and the reviews for Dr. McQuitty on Unilocal were excellent. I had lost a filling, needed new x-​rays, and also needed my teeth cleaned. I conveyed this information to the woman taking the appointment and she indicated I needed to arrive early for paperwork. When I arrived on time, I filled out the paperwork and subsequently had my teeth cleaned, but was informed I would not be seeing Dr. McQuitty that day. This was definitely unexpected news for me. Not knowing what to do, I made another appointment as I did need a filling, a check up, and updated x-​rays. I told the office staff that I would have my prior x-​rays sent to their office.
After thinking about my experience, I decided Dr. McQuitty was probably not the dentist for me. When I called to cancel my appointment, I explained to the woman who answered the telephone the reason I was cancelling my appointment. She made it clear to me, she didn’t care and wasn’t interested. After my second unpleasant experience with Dr. McQuitty’s office, I decided to google search Dr. McQuitty’s dental practice. I quickly discovered some troubling facts about Dr. McQuitty and advise everyone reading this review to do a background search before making an appointment.
The good thing about all of this is that I’ve discovered Dr. Chris Morgan and have had good experiences with him and his office staff. He may be the best dentist I’ve ever been to.

Today I had a serious dental emergency. My front tooth split and was partially dangling. I was frantic. Having a long history with serious dental issues and having just moved to the Santa Fe area, I was extremely concerned about finding a dentist who could deal with all my problems. Dr. McQuitty’s office told me to come in immediately, without an appointment, to handle my dental emergency. I went right into the examining room. Everyone on the staff was so kind and personable, efficient and professional. Dr. McQuitty did a thorough examination, explained all the possible options and the costs. Then he took care of my emergency painlessly, and skillfully. I know, I have been to dozens dentists and specialists over the years. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to know that from now on I have a fabulous dentist to handle my not insignificant dental needs.
His office is conveniently located with street parking right in downtown Santa Fe. The space is very inviting and comfortable and has all of the state of the art dental equipment. I highly recommend Dr. Patrick McQuitty for your dental needs. In my book he is top drawer!

I’m now a few months out from my very extensive dental work (3 crowns, 7 fillings) and yesterday my hair guy asked me for a referral to a dentist. I immediately recommended Dr. McQuitty, not only because my care was so thorough, painless and professional, but because this potential patient said he’s avoided dentists for years. The absolute worst thing about going to the dentist is when they look in your mouth and say, «Wow. You really haven’t taken good care of your teeth, have you?»
There’s no judgment here, just a very decent guy who wants to help you get back to having healthy teeth and gums in the quickest, easiest manner possible. I actually look forward to my appointments.
So, yes, I’m updating my review by once more highly recommending Dr. M and his staff both here and to everyone who asks.

Patrick McQuitty is no question very friendly and he interacts well with his customers. My last visit — it wasn’t a pleasant one and this is why it scored at 3. I had a cap that needs to be glued back on. When he put on and it didn’t feel comfortable. He said it will be fine later on and I knew it wouldn’t be fine. I had to «argue» with him when I know my own teeth! No doctor or dentist should challenge their own patient BUT to LISTEN their OWN customers/​patients. They may not be right (or may be). Next time… LISTEN to your customers/​patient. I decided to take my business elsewhere. And one last thing, my wife and I asked to keep our billing separate. Guess what? Our bill came into together and into one bill. I had to call them and they were like «it shouldn’t be any problem with having one bill» Hello? We ASKED for a separate bill!

Couldn’t ask for more from a dentist! This guy is awesome. I have never left a dentists office feeling happy but I did yesterday. The staff is nice and professional, clean office, state-​of-​the-​art. After receiving a treamtent plan a couple of months ago from another local dentist, I quickly went to Mexico to save some $$$$ (the quote was $ 8,000 to $ 9,000!!!). As a follow-​up, I went to Dr. Mcquitty on a friends recommendation. He approved the work done in Mexico, said I can wait the two months till my insurance kicks in for the rest of the work necessary and quoted me a mere $ 3000 (I did NOT have 5K worth of dental work done in Mexico). I cannot say enough about Dr. McQuitty! I was at ease within minutes of sitting in his chair, maybe cause he took the time to get to know me a little and ask about my concerns.
You will not be disappointed with Dr. McQuitty and his staff and I have no fear (a miracle) moving forward!

I believe Patrick is hands down the best dentist there is! My previous dentist in Santa Fe was retiring a few years ago, and I was looking for a new one. My partner remembered that a close friend of his was married to a dentist, and had heard he was fantastic. So I called the office that day and made an appointment. That was one of the best health care decisions I’ve ever made! I’ve had lots of dental work done in my life, and in the past I’ve always hated going to the dentist. But I actually look forward to my appointments now! Patrick is kind, smart, charming, professional, and truly cares for his patients. And those qualities extend to his exemplary staff — including office staff, assistants, and hygenists — who are all cheerful and highly capable. On top of all this, he keeps his practice up to date with state-​of-​the-​art equipment, such as digital x-​ray sensors (which replace x-​ray film to give the dentist instant results while reducing the patient’s exposure to radiation) and a mind-​blowing crown fabrication machine that makes a perfect, custom fit crown in less than 10 minutes!
I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Patrick McQuitty to anyone looking for a new dentist in Santa Fe. You won’t regret it!

I would put six stars if I could! Just switched to him yesterday and it was ridiculously great! Dr. McQuitty is not only highly capable and experienced, but relaxed, charming, funny and actually takes an interest in the patient. I left another local dentist and could not believe the difference! I had two crowns done by him after one was done by my prior dentist. The difference is astonishing. My mouth was so sore after the first… couldn’t brush my teeth for two days versus two crowns put in the very back of my mouth and zero pain today. And he also makes the crowns on site so after two hours, fabulous music (you get to choose and I asked for Pink Martini and bingo! Got to listen the whole time!) and good natured conversation, I strolled out with the fillings removed, all work done and two new crowns. :) Seriously… if you have any apprehensions at all about dental work, this is the office! I don’t but I know a lot of people who do and it is just a cake walk. Not only is Dr. McQuitty terrific, but he has surrounded himself with great people… from the receptionist to billing and his Assistant. just all charming and upbeat. I almost didn’t want to leave! I hugely regret somehow not knowing of him as I have lived here a long time (24 years)! But I think people don’t talk much about dentists but they would if they knew Dr. McQuitty. His reviews here are not in any way exaggerated. Call them! You will never look back at whoever is currently working on your teeth. :) HUGE HUGS TO THE ENTIRE DARLING STAFF!!! Years ago I needed a new dentist so I asked my boss for the name of her dentist. I thought she’d have a great dentist herself since her father was a dentist. So I set up an appointment & went to see Dr. Salter. When I arrived, there was Dr. Salter, packing up his last box since he’d just sold his practice & was retiring! Great! I’m sure Dr. Salter was a great dentist… but there’s no way he’d be any better than his replacement, Dr. Patrick McQuitty. He’s an EXCELLENT dentist with a soothing presence. Very competent, kind and handsome. His staff is equally talented, each one a wonderful person! Dr. Pat also has an amazing crown making machine in the office… so it’s a one-​shot deal. (Pun intended!) If you’re looking for a new dentist, take your choppers over to Dr. Pat. You won’t be sorry!

Dr. McQuitty is quite skillful, proficient and direct. Over the last couple of years i have experienced a real professional who is up to date regarding the advancement of Dentistry technology. The staff is quite welcoming and the mood for a dentists office is.well. uplifting. I find the pricing fair. mostly i’m impressed in the way Dr. McQuitty explains the dental procedures and the reasons why the work is needed, the results are highly satisfying.

And I wasn’t disappointed.
I’ve been there twice so far, once for a cleaning & x-​rays, and once to have a crown taken off and replaced (done in one visit!).
Overall feeling in the office: friendly, high-​spirited, and reassuring.
Competence level: clearly superb.
Note:
Dr. McQuitty’s replacement of my crown involved zero pain, and it was a molar ! By contrast, I had had the other crown replaced a couple of years ago by another very well regarded Santa Fe dentist for the same price — it wasn’t even a molar — and not only did it take two visits but there was a moment of howling agony.
If you go to Dr. McQuitty, you probably won’t ever go elsewhere.

I really lucked out, sort of. The good news is that this is a great, friendly group of people and Dr. McQuitty is a good caring dentist. The bad news is that I need to see a periodontologist. I’m visiting from Palm Springs, and his office is a few blocks from the vacation home I rented. I found him on Unilocal.I called and spoke to Edward who made an appointment for the next day. After the doctor visit I thought I would get my teeth cleaned. The appointment was made, and two weeks later I returned. Just in time as my tooth was flaring up again. I leave for home in a few days, and I thought it best to see a periodontologist at home. The doctor provided me with some medication to take if the pain became overwhelming, and gave me some very solid advice on dental insurance. The fact that he’s also tall and handsome doesn’t hurt either.

Let me preface this review by stating that I used to group the grim reaper and dentists into the same category. I had traumatic experiences as a child with both my dentist and orthodontist, and now as an adult, have a hard time letting anyone probe around my mouth… that is until I met Dr. Pat.
It had been some time since my last dental appointment, and I thought I was getting a cavity. I panicked and procrastinated dreading the thought of another dental experience. Some friends of mine mentioned their love for their dentist, and suggested I go see Dr. Pat. After some time, I booked an appointment and was able to get in relatively easily considering I was a new patient. The experience was as pleasurable as seeing a dentist can be. He and his amazing staff calmed my nerves, and took care of my three cavities gently, and quickly.
I am forever grateful for this experience, and as the previous reviewer mentioned, it is worth traveling to see him. In fact, I currently live in Portland OR, and fly back annually for a dental vacation (if you can call it that) — He and his staff are that good!

How many dentists do you know that will come out to the car of an 86-​year old patient in order to fit a custom bridge? All I can say is that because he did this, he not only gets the 5-​star rating, but an extra gold star for going out of his way to accomodate my elderly aunt in her immobile state. Not only would he be my dentist of choice in Santa Fe, I would probably fly in for my appointment if I lived outside NM. Everyone in the office deserves huge kudos for their incredible service for my aunt today. Thank you so much for going above and beyond!

Wonderful, gentle, compassionate dentist who works well with total dentistry chickens like myself. The office atmosphere is fun and relaxed — great staff, great dentist.

Dr. McQuitty is a great and caring dentist. His staff is very professional and knowledgeable. Services offered include routine care, emergency care, children and adult services, and cosmetic dentistry. This is a dog friendly practice as well!
