Business Owner

He was born April 27, 1963 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor Degree in Business and a Juris Doctor Degree from Law School. He then moved to California obtaining his second license to practice law.

He arrived in Santa Maria on July 5, 1989 and started working at a local law firm. On November 1, 1996 he started his own law firm across the street from the Santa Maria court house at 400 E. Orange Street. We know that office because every year he puts up thousands of Christmas lights for the community. His office also provides a float for all the local parades.

In 2000 he watched saving Private Ryan with his wife. After watching the movie the Clayton’s decided they wanted to help the Veterans they started a Veterans BAR-​B-​QUE and served free meals to the Veterans on Veterans Day, every November 11th. Last year marked their 14th BBQ in which they passed out 2500 plates of food at the Veterans Memorial Building.

My recent experience with Michael Clayton was wonderful. My son who is a SGT in the United State Army was arrested for false charges made against. Michael and his team treated myself and my son with the utmost respect and professionalism, and new how devastating these charges would be to a military man. ultimately Michael was able to submit prof to the DA that these charges were false and all charges were completely dropped prior to going to court. Michael Clayton is an exultant attorney who truly cares for his clients and has the utmost respect for are men in uniform. I would highly recommend Michael Clayton and his team to fight for you he will not let you down. As a Military Mom I would like to thank you Michael for all that you have done for my son and everything you do for our military. HOOAH

I have never had the need to hire an attorney until this past year. I found Mr. Clayton through previous reviews on Unilocal.I didn’t see too many negative’s so I decided to give him a shot.
I was thoroughly disappointed with the entire process and interactions I had with him. I paid the entire amount requested up front over the phone prior to any help on his behalf. I was always available and open for communication, however, once you pay this business, you will never reach Mr. Clayton. It’s odd how when money was involved I was contacted personally by Mr. Clayton within minutes, then after money was exchanged he was impossible to get a hold of. On two separate occasions I left messages for Mr Clayton and never received any follow up calls from him or his staff addressing my questions.
Now to the most important part. My legal representation. Based on first hand experiences and speaking with other professionals, the outcome of my case was unacceptable. I was penalized the same as if I had not had an attorney at all. My advice for first time offenders, who may not know how the system works, to relax and do a little research first.
I am only writing this review in hopes others may not feel the same or receive the inferior service I received.

Mr. Clayton and his team have been the help I needed in a situation that I never thought I’d be in. I am terrible with understanding legal lingo and practices since I normally don’t need to deal with them in depth, but Mr. Clayton guided me through everything that I needed to know and everything that I should have been doing at different stages of the legal process. He understood the stress that I was under and assured me with good reason, not just simple courtesy, that everything would work out. This understanding and support helped me get out of the many psychological ruts I dug myself into along the way. His expertise and experience indeed helped me avoid a dire outcome. He told me to call him whenever I had any questions at all, day or night, which I appreciated because it’s never easy to deal with these types of matters alone. I give my utmost recommendation for anyone seeking legal counsel to talk to Mr. Clayton and his team – I’m sure glad I chose them to aid me in my case.
