History

Established in 1992.

10^th Street Preschool, established in 1992, is founded on the profound belief that young children learn best when allowed to engage in meaningful play in mixed-​age groupings. Our environment is safe, nurturing, optimally stimulating, and constantly evolving. All areas of learning are carefully and creatively integrated into our curriculum to facilitate play that is relevant and developmentally age appropriate. We encourage self-​reliance, high-​spirited expression, curiosity and imaginative play. We believe that the friendships and camaraderie enjoyed during these magical preschool years help children feel identified with each other and acutely aware of their equality and shared destiny.

Meet the Business Owner

Cindy W.

Business Owner

CIndy Wasson is the founder and director of 10^th Street Preschool. She has been an educator since 1974 and began her career teaching preschool while attending UCLA. Cindy was a self-​contained classroom teacher with LAUSD for 10 years where she introduced the the idea of mixed-​age grouping and teaching the same group of children from Kindergarten — 6^th grade. She is especially proud of earning dual Lifetime Teacher Awards from the State of California, in Early Education and Elementary education and her close collaboration and training with Dr. Berry Brazelton and Dr. Joshua Sparrow.
