Love this throwback to hippy days coffee hangout. Good coffee, great homemade sandwiches, pleasant staff and best of all you can hang out on your laptop as long as you want. The atmosphere is laid back with Boho style indoor and outdoor areas, lots of wood, brick, plants and relaxed vibe.

There was no Wi-Fi, which is sorta essential in this day and age, especially if you’re not offering any sort of artisanal coffee or food experience. The staff was a little flustered and slammed on the day I went, despite the lack of line, but they were nice enough.

Good coffee, bad service. I literally just had the woman behind the counter look me in the eye, make a face, and walk away. I was the only person waiting at the counter to be served. Great, roomy place to hang and work, but Jesus H… The other two times I’ve been here they completely forgot I ordered food. I had to ask twice before they made it. Really gotta work on the basics.

I really love the atmosphere of this café. Only thing I wish they would change/allow is tipping on credit cards, as they don’t. I don’t always carry cash(most people don’t in these modern times of electronic credit & debit cards), and would like to tip the wonderful employees here. Please make it so, Mr. D. :-)

Rude service by cashier and by barrister. Also had to wait 25min to order while the cashier was chatting with other customers.

I happened to cross path with the 18th street café while checking out a rental across the street! I would take the rental if only to have this place next door! It’s gorgeous! I’m a spoiled European and this place is an instant favorite! So vintage and genuine! Out door patio feels so European! Indoor old genuine America… what a perfect combo! The Curry chicken wrap was very yummy, great coffee and very friendly staff. So so happy to have found this gem!

Great coffee shop! I pick up a coffee a day from here and besides the delicious coffee the staff is incredibly friendly. I have brought clients over to the coffee shop and have had a great experience sitting outside on the patio and doing business. Highly recommend!

18th Street Coffee House has its perks for having their quaint and tranquil garden patio, a patio that reminds me of the English brick paved roads, tranquil water fountains, and walled ivy gardens that barricades the busy streets of the city world. To me, it is a perfect place to come visit on any given afternoon to read the latest newspaper, your new favourite book, or simply over a coffee chat with girlfriends. Although I wouldn’t say this coffee bar is up to par as to what I had expected, it does its duty. However, perhaps I was a little discouraged by their array of drip coffee choices that I needed to pour myself. For the price to pay for their drip coffee in which I think is 70% more than the average coffee bar, I would have preferred the coffee to be served to me. Nonetheless however, if you appreciate the ambiance of an establishment as much as I do, bring a book to 18th Street Coffee House, I assure the tranquility is quite extraordinary x

Great Coffee, Great Service, Like sitting in your own living room. I am not a big Unilocalper, but I love this place so much I had to chime in. I live very close and stop in a few times a week. Sometimes just on my way to work but often to relax and read a few pages of a book. The staff is dedicated and thoughtful. Erica, who is often there in the morning will always greet you with a bright smile. Brandon, a long time employee, is like a friendly bowl of Fancy Oatmeal, warm and inviting and always has a minute to say hi. There are comfortable booths and a beautiful patio. No WIFI but come on, you can get it from your phone. They ask that you don’t talk on you phone but thats just common courtesy, right? This is a coffee house just like the name says. They offer several different strengths of coffee along with the standard Espressos, Caps, Lattes and such. They know how to make your fancy drink and even have some of their own but if you are looking for that hipster coffee scene then this is not your place. They even have food, Good Food. Sandwiches, Quiche, pastries. etc. Everyone has their right to an opinion but if you don’t like this place your opinion is wrong. BOOM!

Great quiche and had an iced coffee that was actually really good. I like the style. Quaint. Plenty of room to sit and there seemed to be a lot of people working on laptops so a quiet chill environment.

Lovely spot. Had an iced Americano. The espresso is smooth, not bitter. Nice service as well. Not exactly a spot with a lot going on which is why it’s good. It’s up the street from a bunch of production houses, so if you have to be in advertising/movies then it’s a good spot for a quick walk or an order in.

I’m surprised this place hasn’t received a 4 star rating. I bike rode here in dire need of a refreshment and upon my arrival met many things that caught my eye. First, it was a very sweet, well lit, fresh, and warm coffee spot. There was plenty of seating and it wasn’t very loud considering the place was half full. The barista was nice enough and I ordered a regular iced tea. It was tasty and with a little sugar, delicious. I inhaled it and took a seat by the window. Second thing I noticed were the male patrons… I know Los Angeles is full of good looking people but this spot had more than usual in one place. Everyone else looked like writers and artists and everyone was busy doing their thang. I liked the vibe and I will most likely return on another bike ride. Next time I’ll try the food and adjust my rating if needed.

I have passed by this coffee shop on my bike hundreds of times. I live in Brentwood and use the bike lane on Broadway to get to Santa Monica often. Recently, I was heading to the beach and got into a freak bike accident right in front of this coffee shop. I had some bruises and scrapes, but was not badly injured. The guy working at this coffee shop saw the aftermath and gave me what I needed from their first aid kid to clean up my wounds. He also asked me if I needed anything to drink. I asked for an iced coffee and he comped it, saying«you just got hit by a car» It’s nice to know that there are still good people in the world. The iced coffee was pretty good, too.

A classic coffeehouse-style place to work and drink Groundworks, with lots of tasty snacks and a tranquil patio. But they only offer 30 minutes of free wi-fi through Time-Warner, so tough to get much work done online without an account. There are several coffeehouses in the area that may offer better coffee, but the parking here is a much easier than others.

This is ridiculously cute! For some reason, it never showed up on my Unilocal searches. I’m glad I visited, because it seems like a great place to work. I only came to have a quick coffee with a friend and found the décor absolutely charming. There were some booths and lots of tables inside, and then some cute tables outdoor in the private courtyard area. There were many people on their laptops, which I like. I got a regular coffee, which was decent, and a macaron, which was quite good. I didn’t check for wifi, but it seems like they don’t have it. I assume people were using their phones as hotspots.

I don’t often venture to this area of Santa Monica, and was so happy to stumble upon this gem! 18th Street Coffee House is a spacious café, perfect for a meeting or to get work done on your own. The interior is quite unique, with eclectic furniture and décor. The outside patio is a very nice touch as well. I’ve only tried their s’mores latte, and let me tell you — it was phenomenal! I love that they have very interesting and diverse drinks to choose from. Really wish they had wifi, but regardless I will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

I’ve never worked in a coffee house. At a very young age I started banging away at my old lady’s IBM typewriter and by the time I got to high skool, they let me skip typing class since my «quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog» was faster than the teacher’s. Which is why I went to work at a law firm. While my friends were bussing tables at Chili’s for minimum wage, I was making three times that by typing up wills and divorce papers and stamping them with my adorable lil’ notary embosser. But I have worked as a waitress and a bartender. I’ve dealt with asshole customers and pervy bosses. But never have I been allowed to treat customers the way the employees in here act toward patrons. It might be half-way understandable if these baristas were bratty high skoolers who lived up the way ’round Montana and drove their mum’s mint-condish 5-Series around town. Oh, but they’re not. And why the owner/manager continues to hire angry 30-somethings who hate their job is beyond me. ‘Cuz that’s weird, right! #HireNicePeople

Coffee is okay. I ordered a soy latte and got mostly foam because the barista steamed a pitcher of soy milk and dumped it right into the cup, rather than waiting for the milk and foam to separate. I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the muffin and I ate maybe two bites of it. It tasted like gas station quality. The servers make you feel like you’re wasting their time. And there’s no wi-fi. Meh.

Well, this place is quite delightful for a light read or a chat with a friend in a relatively quiet and reserved place. I came here to get a few things done via Internet but there’s no wifi. The atmosphere was so delightful that I decided to just read for a few — surprisingly not angry about the no wifi policy. Come here for a good cup of joe, light read and an easy conservation!
