Bernard Geller, MD

I’d like to start with I’ve never written a review on any of my doctor’s before, and this is not for Dr. Geller specifically, rather some (not all) of his staff. I hope they take this into consideration to speak to them and help train them on situation such as these to give their patients better service. For the first 3 years up until today, he’d get 4 stars from me, but hopefully this sinks in as it was quite disappointing.
Dr. Geller is great, and I’ve been going to him for 3 plus years now. He himself is someone I would and want to continue to see, however, his staff (and not all the staff can be blamed, I will pin point two nurses for allergies shots and one back up office manager) are not so great. After being a patient for three years, I unfortunately experienced today some of the worse customer service I have received in quite a awhile, and what is more frustrating is it is one of my doctor’s, and it will set me back on my allergy shot routine due to their lack of service.
Two weeks ago I filled out a form to have my allergy shot serums sent to another doctor (purely to get my shots at more local location, not to leave Dr. Geller as my primary allergist). On the paper — it clearly states it could take up to two weeks — well it has been.
When I filled out the form originally, I was told it would be at the other office early the next week (that should have been last week), then I checked in last week as a I am due for a shot, and it was not shipped yet. I was then told it would be early the week after that (meaning yesterday), but when I called today to check in, it still hadn’t been shipped.
Calling Dr. Geller’s office I was informed «it could take up to two weeks,» which I said, «I understand, I read that, it has been two weeks, and your team told me otherwise for the past two weeks.» They then explained how busy it has been during the holidays, which I simply replied with «Understand, had this been what you told me two weeks ago or even last week, I would not be upset, but you continued to tell me it was on it’s way to be shipped to another office.» I was then told, it should be there by early next week, I am now so behind in my shots they will have to take me back a dose, so I’m upset. They also said, they would over night it so I could go in tomorrow «but I would have to foot the bill.» Not a great choice of words, but rather rude actually.
The end result is they would not ship them over night and take on that cost even though they made this mistake of misinforming me two weeks in a row, and instead said «all I can say is sorry,» but at this point, they won’t even own up to the fact of how rude their team was (one was raising her voice to me defensively and arguing when I was staying calm and expressing why I was frustrated — better to explain that just get «mad») and how at the end of the day, it was their fault to give me continuous incorrect information and great customer service (you would think for a patient at a doctor’s office) would have tried to make something happen so I would not only be happy, but so my continue regiment would not be altered and I would not be missing a shot.
I would say this is not only a bummer from a doctor I’ve gone to for three years, but sad the situation was handled so badly. It didn’t feel like they cared for one moment my situation or that I was a patient of that office. It will sadly made me see (if any) other options for offices are out there for a more permanent solution.

Dr. Geller has been my allergist for 20 years and he is the best. He has saved my life once, and he’s taken good care of me for all of those 20 years. Allergies had become overwhelming for me, so I sought his help. He was able to get me back in balance and my allergies are minimal now through allergy shots and an antihistamine. I can’t say enough about what a kind and caring doctor he is, nor about his knowledge and experience in this field. His staff is always helpful and available. The nursing staff is very friendly and always very caring.

Dr. Geller is the real deal. if you want a smart, up to date, caring doctor, he is the one.

Dr. Geller has been treating my allergies since I was a kid. He is the most knowledgeable physician I have ever had. I went in for allergy treatment and he and his staff helped me resolve my symptoms right away. I have come to rely on him for more than just allergies. I’m not sure if he knows this but he is my primary care doctor. Whenever I have any illness, I call his office first. I trust him and his team to treat anything that comes up for me and if something is out of his scope of practice (broken bones, etc) he refers me to the top specialists in Santa Monica. I think he’s been practicing in Santa Monica for about 30 years and he knows just about everyone. He is by far the best doctor I have ever seen!

Dr. Geller is the best doctor ever. Both myself and my children all suffer from allergies and he has diagnosed and treated all our symptons with a gentle, kind, and efficient manner. His staff is top rate and makes billing and insurance easy and his nurses are
comforting and caring.
He has always gone above and beyond to be there for us. I cannot recommend Dr. Geller highly enough!

Dr. Geller is truly amazing! apparently I’ve had allergies my entire life, but was told by several other doctors that they were just seasonal and I should just take over the counter meds. Nothing was working for me, so I finally went to Dr. Geller and within weeks I was feeling better and could actually breathe! I don’t know why none of the other doctors detected what he did, but I am so grateful that he has helped me and my nose!

I developed allergies in my early thirties. But I thought I was just getting sick a lot. Well I went to Dr. Gellar and he was awesome. His staff were really nice and they came in like Star Fleet officers with their iPads. I have a ton of tattoos on my back so they ran out of room for the scratch tests. But when I got the results and found out I had a lot of allergies it explained everything. Like my whole life made sense. I was at first overwhelmed but Gellar explained that everyone has an allergy and he told me how I can still eat the foods I like and not die. I loved his attitude and attention to detail and the time he took with me. He’s just an all around great doctor and I recommend him to everyone!

Every time I go it is always a pleasant experience. I’m always greeted kindly by Shanna and the front desk staff. I never have to wait long, which is great! It is relieving when I go because the doctor just takes one look and knows what is wrong. He diagnosed me with shingles before I even knew what shingles was. I would recommend anyone to go here.

Dr. Bernie Geller is smart, considerate, caring and has the ability to really listen to his patients. Everyone I know who I have referred to Dr. Geller feels the same as we do. His reputation is stellar in the medical community and it is for good reason. The office staff is incredibly welcoming and understanding. I highly recommend Dr. Geller to anyone in need of a top-​notch allergist.

My family has been going to Geller’s office for years! He is a very warm, efficient and brilliant Doctor, who has changed my life since telling me the million things I’m allergic to (thanks Mom and Dad)! Now that I know what foods to stay away from, I have more energy.
Also, when I was living in Orange County, Geller recommended me a doctor whose standard of care was as high as Geller’s. This was nice because Geller and the OC doctor worked together to make sure that I was being treated perfectly to help reduce my allergies.
Now that I’m getting tested again (allergies change, ugh), I am excited to see how my energy level changes again. Let the fun begin!

Dr. Geller is the best. I have had allergies my entire life, and he successfully manages them. He is one of the nicest people out there, and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He feels like family.
The people in his office are very nice, and parking is easy in the underground parking area.

Since I have year round allergies, I decided to finally start getting allergy injections a couple years ago to lower the effects. When I moved to LA I needed to find a new allergist and Dr. Geller was highly recommended to me. He’s a great doctor and very kind and friendly. He recommended allergy medication and daily sinus flushes which have helped immensely which is on top of my allergy injections. The office staff and nurses are all very friendly as well and are always there to help. The nurses are great, even if they have to poke me with needles every 2 weeks. :) Also, the office is clean and free allergies which is a plus!

Dr. Gellar has a gift. He is possibly the nicest man ever and he knows how to make you feel better! He knows allergies and he can help get them under control. I always feel a lift after a visit. The entire staff is kind and helpful. Allergy shots have changed my life and I am grateful.

I like Dr. Geller. He has helped me with my allergies. He is good and very kind. He is a wonderful and caring doctor. He and his staff makes getting shots twice weekly very easy and painless for me.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Gellar for years. He has been very helpful with the allergies and is always willing to listen. Dr. Rafi, his partner, is also very good. They have helped many of my family members over the years I would give it five stars but sometimes it’s very hard to get an appointment. The staff is very good with submitting the insurance bills so all I have to worry about is our health.

Dr. Geller turned me from a cat-​fearing runny-​nosed malcontent into a cat-​loving allergy-​free dude who’s married to a girl and via said marriage became stepfather to a cat that sleeps near or often flush up against my face every night. Fantastic office, friendly folks, problem solved.

I’ve been subject to plenty of allergy testing and seen my fair share of allergists in the past few years. Dr. Geller is one of the really great ones. He has extensive knowledge and experience (he’s been practicing medicine longer than I’ve been alive!). Plus he really cares about his patients, is very approachable, and takes the time to listen. His staff is equally great– they’re friendly, helpful, and efficient. The nurses are very responsive and experienced. Getting allergy shots in the office is a breeze as no appointment or specified day is required, the wait (if there is one) is very short, and there are lots of magazines to flip through in the waiting room. If your allergies are taking over you life, go see Dr. Geller. He just may change your life.

Dr. Geller is a knowledgeable and personable doctor that really does seem to care about his patients. His office staff is professional and efficient. I never have to wait more than 5 minutes from arriving to when I receive my shots. I would definitely recommend this office.

I really like Dr. Geller and find his staff to be wonderful. You don’t have to make an appointment for routine allergy shots and there is barely any waiting time. I am usually in and out within 15 — 20 minutes — I know this to be true because the parking garage charges $ 2 if you leave within 15 minutes, and I rarely have to pay for going over 15 minutes. This makes the commitment to get allergy shots easier, because it is quite a commitment.
The bottom line — I barely suffered any allergy symptoms this past Spring and Fall is here and I barely know it is hay fever season. This is huge for me given that I love the great outdoors and gardening.

I’ve never been to an allergist so I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to expect but this is what happened to me:
I decided to go to the allergist because I came across some pretty hard core reactions in the past 4 years. I wanted to identify what all my allergies were.
My first visit was just peachy. I met Dr. Gellar and told him about every allergic episode I’ve ever had. I made a huge emphasis about dyes (PPD). Basically, whenever I came into contact with a dye the area would turn into an open wound of puss. Gross, I know. We decided to do a scratch test that day which wasn’t that bad.
I get a call the following week and one of the assistants asks if I know where my test results for my scratch test are. Uh… why would I know? The assistant seemed to have misplaced and said he’ll look some more around the office.
I come in for my next test and the assistant ended up losing my results so I had to do the test all over again. I figured this stuff could happen to anyone so I don’t think much of it.
That same day the doctor wanted to do a 2 day patch test for metals. I had 20 patches taped on my back. I asked the assistant if he knew about my hair dye incident and he said that he’s never seen any horrible reaction to patch tests. He assured me about three times that he’s never seen a horrible reaction since the patches are so small and only on for a short period of time. If I get a reaction, I should call the doctor but that I should never touch the patches because they need to stay in position to better determine the results.
The next day, I felt like my back was itchy but wasn’t sure because it felt like the tape (it was pretty tight). That night I couldn’t take the itching anymore and asked my boyfriend to peek to see if there were any rashes. He looked and walah, three open wounds! I called the office and a nurse called me back. This nurse was not helpful. First of all, she kept arguing with us about which patches I had on. My boyfriend was looking at my back and counting the number of patches. What more do you want? Secondly, she said I couldn’t come in until an hour after the doctor’s office opens (which was when my appointment was in the first place). And thirdly, she was just mumbling and contradicting her directions. We ended up just taking the patches off that had the open wounds.
I came into the office the next morning. The doctor took one look at my back and was shocked. I reminded him that I TOLD him about these reactions before and he ignored me and just said, «I’ve never seen anything like this before. This is a 5+++.» He walked out of the office and brought in a couple more nurses and assistants (at the same time!) to look at the amazing 5+++ girl! All I heard was a bunch of «Oh!!! Wow!!! OMG! That’s bad! I’ve never seen that before!». That was really helpful. Great bedside manner…
The doctor never came back in but the loopy nurse came in to give me information about the metals. She gave me handouts copied from some book about the metals I was allergic to. I asked her if anyone was going to do anything about my back. I mean WTF, the doctor said this is the worse thing he’s ever seen and he doesn’t do anything to fix it? He doesn’t even come back to talk to me? She said that I should probably clean it and put some cortisone on it. WOW.
$ 600 (with insurance) for a couple of handouts, 3 open wounds and a drunk nurse telling me to use cortisone.
I guess I should have gone to a specialized skin allergist? I just don’t think Dr. Gellar and his staff handled this situation well at all.
That’s my story. I gave Dr. Gellar 2 stars instead of one because in the end at least he identified my allergies.
