History

Established in 1985.

This dentist office is a local Santa Monica business built on integrity and trust. We are members of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau. Owned by Craig A. Israel, DDS who is a graduate of UCLA Dental School. Associates working with Dr. Israel are Diana Broumandi, DDS and Alex D. Lopex, DDS who is an esteemed Diplomate of The American Academy of Periodontology. Best Natural Smile is a dental practice that also happens to have a gorgeous ocean and mountain view.

The Best Natural Smile clinical team strives for excellence in patient education and care. We have a beautiful office located in the heart of Santa Monica. We pride ourselves on attention to detail and creating a safe environment for each of our patients. We have a wonderful team of doctors and hygienists and we go to great lengths everytime you visit us to be sure you are comfortable. We are very particular about sterilization and meet the highest standards for keeping you safe and protected. Our team is friendly, warm and caring and we develop long and lasting relationships. We are experts at dental insurance submission and we take care of this for you at each visit.

I have been going to Dr. Israel at Best Natural Smile for over 20 years. I feel very safe in his hands. He is experienced and very gentle. The atmosphere is professional but also friendly. Everyone there treats me like I’m family and makes me feel happy to have a dental practice that cares so much about me. More than that, my teeth are happy!

Dr. Craig Isreal has been my dentist for over 27 years and he is wonderful. Most people dread going to the dentist, but, Dr. Israel and his staff will make you feel differently. He is a caring, compassionate and very knowledgeable dentist and trust me when I say this as I have had a LOT of dental work. He takes his time and makes sure you are always comfortable and not in any pain. He always greets you with a smile and a «How are you doing today».
His office staff and hygienist’s are all great and you always feel welcomed and at ease when you arrive.
If your looking for a new dentist and dental office or are unhappy with your current place, please go see Dr. Craig Israel and everyone at the Best Natural Smile office in Santa Monica… I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I have been going to Dr Craig Israel as my dentist for well over 20 years. That in itself says a lot about the confidence I have in him. I moved down to Long Beach many years ago, but he is worth driving all the way to Santa Monica. He is very nice, very knowledgeable, and does extremely good, careful work. Everything in his office is state of the art. Everyone on his staff is very warm and friendly. I heartily recommend him!

I’m a cash patient or shall I say was. Between me and my husband we spent over 10k. Maybe 13k as I think about it. Did not deliver what he quoted. Yes he patiently made adjustments but his ego won’t allow him to see how unhappy and uncomfortable his patient is. Several years later and my husband still has weird sores in his mouth from the crappy cheap materials used. As for my 1,500 crown well it fell out and I’m going to someone else just to avoid listening to whatever ridiculous story dr Israel will say to make himself feel like he did everything right. He’s really a cosmetic dentist and business model is to get as much out of you financially as he can. Seriously should have done a chargeback on the bridge he did for my husband. After all the written estimate was not delivered. Best of luck if you go to him.

My dentist of 18 years passed away, and he was a holistic dentist… very new age. After that I went to a similar type dentist in Tijuana who was also great, but the drive back and forth is not fun. Next, in the city where I live, the best holistic dentist is very expensive. So I gave in to my husband and tried his traditional dentist in Santa Monica who does composites (not silver) fillings. I must say that although Dr. Israel is not an alternative practitioner, I feel very comfortable with him and trust him. He’s a wonderful dentist and very intelligent. Not only that, his staff is amazing. I feel very cared about from the moment I walk in the door, or if I am on the phone with someone in the office, or when I’m in the chair. Lovely people who go out of their way to take care of my needs and make me feel at ease.

I’ve been a patient of this office for the past few years and received solid care from the hygienists and dentists. Unfortunately, the «customer service» tone of the support staff gravely undermines the efforts of the pros who carry the ball there and is the primary reason I will doubtfully return.
Contrary to the medical professionals capacity to respond to all questions with seriousness, thoroughness and respect-​the «customer service» reps leave a lot to be desired; describing words: smug, elitist and condescending-it’s as if the accepted mantra to the fee paying customers is: shut your mouth, open your check book, bend and cough… a patient looking for a more thoughtful, productive exchange with regard to the topics of: fees, scheduling, records, etc. will declare themselves «difficult» and thus be subject to all the nuances of a gang like pile-​on, whereby one could easily envision the slapping of high fives as the enemy customer is passed from one to the next for what starts to have feel of buying a car (no offense to car dealers, but your traditional «tactics» are infamous), where one is ping-​ponged around until they just say «UNCLE!».
I’ve ignored this stupidity for long enough, now I’ll take my money elsewhere. There’s plenty of good dentists around for customers paying top dollar who don’t want to cope with «sales tactics» that insult their intelligence.

Dr. Israel is the ONLY dentist I trust. My whole fmaily has been going to him for over 25 years. He is a really wonderful and caring dentist. The whole office is awesome also They are so patient and they really care to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Israel and his wonderful and professional staff… When you need an urgent appointment, they really try and accomadate you…
Run, don’t walk to go and see him if you need anything with your teeth!!!

This office is great — andy very good with dental chickens. And it’s OK to be a chicken. At Best Natural Smile the dentists are so nice. And the office has top of the line equipment. They even offer massage pads in your chair during procedure.
Oh and digital xrays, and also everything I have done there has been paperless! So they’re help saving the environment.
The office staff is wonderful too! I’m on the phone with them now for a tiny dental emergency, and I feel like they care about me, they didn’t just schedule me and hang up, they are assisting me with my concerns, and making sure I understand what is going on.

A patient of this office from 2005 – 2011, and yet now I won’t be returning.
A year ago (even 6 months ago) I would have agreed with other reviewers. The reason I stayed here for so long — through multiple insurance carriers, multiple moves, even alternating dentists — has been because of the exemplary staff, dental work, communication and compassion. My last visit still boasts first class dental work but an apparent change at the front desk has made me lose all interest in returning.
My first lousy interaction was immediately smothered with apologies and genuine explanations that the woman was «new» and «hadn’t learned the clientele yet» (she haughtily told me that they had a «business to run». The only reason why I continued to go here was because I was never treated like a shitty customer or made to feel guilty or aware of «business» aspects.)
The second and most annoying interaction happened at the end of the meeting. My fantastic hygienist told the check-​out boy that I wouldn’t be scheduling my next appointment due to my inconsistent schedule, but that she would be presenting me with a proposed treatment plan for a non-​urgent issue we discussed during the visit. So he immediately made me sign the proposal, and then snottily asked me when I wanted to schedule my appointment. Not sure how much worse that could have gone.

After 7 years and about $ 10,000 in out-​of-​pocket dental work, I am no longer incentivized to make the drive from Studio City. I can get that lukewarm treatment closer to home.

Where is the 6th star? Seriously. This is my favorite dentist and dental office of all. I have been to «Best Natural Smile» twice. Once for an emergency and once for a semi-​emergency. Today I went cuz I just knew a wisdom tooth had to come out. I haven’t heard anything bad about anyone but I see Dr. Simeone. He’s my fav. He extracted that tooth in less than 2 minutes. I didn’t feel any pain. The novacain needle didn’t even really hurt. The assistant held my hand the whole time AND turned on the massage dentist chair for me. Dr. Simeone made me laugh and is very smart and thorough; loves what he does and helping people. The entire staff is happy and genuine and operate like a caring family. Everyone is extremely competent and polite. I don’t even have insurance, but they are my number one stop. Worth every penny.

I broke a front tooth OFF an hour before a public event, and this office took me in on no notice and totally saved me. I was greeted so warmly by RDA Vicky, welcomed by mgr. Hilarie, soothed by all. The beautiful-​eyes-​over-​the-​mask Doc Cleber was able to permanently fix the tooth as good as new, so thoroughly, quickly, and without need of novacaine. Gorgeous ocean views, sun and wind chimes in the windows didn’t hurt either! A wonderful, gentle staff and highly capable team. I will definitely be back! What a discovery. HIghly recommend to all.

I love Dr. Bonita Hornstein!
She is so good at what she does, and makes every patient relax with her big genuine smile and her laughter is contageous (even when there are hands working inside your mouth!).
She has been my dentist for 2 years since I moved to CA and absolutely enjoy and even look forward to my dental visits. I trust her that she will ONLY do what is absoutely best for her patients, and not try to «over-​do» so that she can charge more. Her staff is very professional and friendly and her office is beautiful.
Parking is recommended NOT at the high-​rise office building (as it gets quite expensive and you’ll only make that mistake once), rather you can find off street parking or there’s a 3 hour meter lot behind blockbuster thats only a half a block away.

Dr. Hornstein has been my dentist for almost 8 years!
She is not only incredibly kind but she brilliant and a perfectionist which means healthy, beautiful teeth for you!
Ive had all sorts of dental issues and recently had braces. Both my oral surgeon and orthodontist have commented on how great my fillings and crowns look. They looks completely natural, I often forget which are fake =)
The office is also great and very professional, I can’t recommend Dr. Hornstein enough!

His hygienist’s are awesome and very gentle and a shout out to Hilarie his office manager who guided me through getting my Lumineers, which are so beautiful I can’t stop smiling :)

1st review!!! well, i am not a patient. i went with my friend who was having serious dental issues and much anxiety. the desk staff told us where our best bet to park was. and when we met them, they were super sweet and helpful. at one point my friend started to cry. (not during the procedure) and the staff was so caring. saying things like «what can we do for you? we’re here to help you» in soothing, mom-​like voices. and they meant it. it wasnt phony. Dr. Simeone was her doc. he was so great, eased her of her fears. it was a last minute extraction that had to be done. she didnt feel a thing. even tho the experience is a traumatic one. tooth aches, teeth being pulled, finances involved. my friend still left with a positive experience. she felt cared for and safe with Dr Simeone. he walked her thru it, and she was actually laughing by the end of it. the office is beautiful. gorgeous views of Santa Monica and the ocean. the whole experience was nice. no one likes to go to the dentist. but if you have to, this is now my first choice.
