Comfort Inn Santa Monica – West Los Angeles

Spacious for family of 5.
Renovations, no issues, we were not in the hotel during the day and construction hours.
Location…get a car, free parking anyway.
Value for money, ohhhh yes, large room fit us all comfortably. Breakfast fed us all albeit a rather small dining room. We skipped lunch most days, overall a huge saving in meals. Easy takeaway meals available all within walking distance. Very safe to walk around.
Service…with a smile.

I would not waste my time or money here if I were you. They are going through remodeling so I assume once it’s remodeled, it will look SO much better. Bad experience and when I told the person at the main office, all he could say was «oh sorry» then asked if I wanted my receipt. Would not stay here again!
Pros — Clean bed.
Cons — Under construction so there is a ton of construction workers and materials everywhere. You can hear right through the walls. The water was off for 3 hours when we got there so we had to use the bathroom at the main office. The wifi is terrible! Can barely get a signal. When we walked back to get our luggage to bring into the room, the house keeper was in the room when we got back moving things around. Outdated. Breakfast wasn’t that good.

Let’s be clear, this is not a five star hotel but if you find yourself here, rest assured you’ll be just fine. My husband and I just checked in today and the hotel is safe, clean and spacious. We just finished up staying at a botinque hotel and we are really appreciating the extra space this hotel has to offer. Check in was a breeze, the hold on the credit card reasonable, the hotel is not right next to the beach but the bus takes you right down to it. Really, step out the front door and look right and you’ll see the bus stop, it is literally a straight shot down to the pier. My husband and I explored the immediate area, first we went west, lots of restaurants and a 24 hour CVS store within two blocks. In the evening we walked the short back street and came across Wilshire street… Epic. Lots of amazing restaurants and clubs with amazing tasty meals to be had. The hotel has free parking and our bathroom has been updated. The linens are clean and show no evidence of over use. No, it is not fancy but sit back and relax about the deal you got.

Decent stay for a reasonable price — The room was clean and spacious and was comfortable for us. We had a good buffet in the morning at 7 am. Was a good experience overall. It is a great place to stay with the family.

Cannot really fault this place — the price you pay for and the service you get is top notch. Raymond at the front desk is very kind, cheerful and helpful. The room itself is clean, spacious and has everything you need. Have a big fridge, safe, iron and a microwave. The breakfast in the morning has everything you expect — eggs, bacon, cereal, pancakes etc. small but enough room space to eat. 10 mins away from the Santa Pier beach and around 30 from universal studios. The traffic is immense !! All around great hotel for the family.

Loud air conditioner kept us up an night. Room smelled musty and small little bugs flying around. Shampoo no conditioner you had to go to the desk to get it as its considered luxury item. Room was clean. The only plus is the location. Close to St. John’s hospital and the beach.

This hotel is clean and safe. No frills. Decent breakfast every morning starting at 6:30. Don’t stay in a room on the first floor facing the courtyard. Other guests sit at the tables starting at breakfast talking and eating; you can hear every word they say. Don’t be fooled by the pics, the pool is tiny, and the room is very dated. Again, it is clean. There is zero privacy around the courtyard. Location is decent, use über to go to the pier. Refrigerator in room kept drinks tepid, far from cool. AC in room worked wonderfully. Parking was free, located behind the hotel, again, safe and well lit.

Stay was July 31^st-​Aug 2^nd. Room 134. It was the worst hotel stay we have ever experienced. Within 5 minutes of checking in, we had to call the front desk because the AC unit was extremely loud. We couldn’t even hear the TV over it. The front desk (around 11 pm) said they get that comment a lot and there was nothing they can do about it (its normal). It was a rattling sound like the plastic around the unit was vibrating and when you put pressure on it, it stopped for a little bit before rattling again and again. Me and my husband were up 4 – 5 times EACH Friday and sat night. Upon check out Sunday, I told them they need to consider fixing that AC unit and told the front desk the whole story and they said that’s not good and asked when was a good time to come take a look at it… Are you serious, I called within 5 minutes of getting here!.. I am checking out now so it does us no good now…” I didn’t even get an apology. Oh and the AC unit blows directly on one of the two beds so we had to put a chair in front of it so our kids didn’t freeze all night. The carpet was damp in the entrance of the room for some reason and very stained. The key reader on the door was very frustrating as it would only read one of the cards. We tested both cards on the door to the outside of the hotel and both worked, so that’s how we know the keys were fine and it was the door reader (we exchanged the one key and it still didn’t read it). We prepaid for our room 2 – 3 months in advance. The day after check out, our card had a hold for $ 398 more! We are now up to just about $ 800 for this stay… I called the front desk upset after all we have went through already, and the fact that they held more than what I paid originally for the entire stay. They told me that the $ 398 will drop off and i guess its for if we broke or took anything. It is now day 2 after checking out and it is still there. I will never stay at another Comfort Suite again, no matter how much cheaper it is.

I was here on business and booked a room online. The price seemed fair enough.
I got a room on the first floor –street side in front. The room was clean, but smelled like wet dirty carpet and gnats keep flying around so I opened the windows and turned on the fan with no luck it was just to smelly. Me and my guest were getting a headaches from the smells so I opened the front door a little bit and that was great! it created a breeze ok until the smokers started in then the smoke came wright in the room. This was all bad. I didn’t get much rest because I had to close the front door for safety and with the window wide open, fan running, Street Noise and the smell –well lets say I looked like crap the next on my job interview. I did notice the breakfast looked good, I was offered to fill out a score card and comments on my stay there and I was honest. The manager said sorry and that’s about all. You would think they would give me some credit or something –Nope not all $ 170 dollars for a headache and restless night. I suggest to probably look somewhere else.
I will be going back and forth to Santa Monica, but unless they make it wright I will stay down the street where I’ve had good luck.

I stayed here, and it was okay. Would I stay here again? No. The bed was very uncomfortable and I had major back pain. The breakfast was nothing special, and I would traded that for a better bed.
Even though the location was pretty close to everything, I would choose another place. The next time I will spend a little more and stay at a hotel.

Clean, close to beach, kind staff, good breakfast. Are ADA compliant. They are a good bunch. Appreciate the service. Plenty of good food around both walking distance and if you want to drive.

A little overpriced for what we got but it was clean. Loud exhaust fan in the bathroom and broken tile and grout on the floor. Not a deal breaker. Just wish we paid $ 100 or less and not $ 170.

I would have wrote this review on my computer but the wifi might as well be be dial up.
So there is this one room that, I believe, was once a storage closet. It faces an astro turf covered hallway that every patron must venture through to get to their room. It is immersed in the comforting sounds of an elevator roaring through my walls like river. I have a majestic view of a darkened hallway with guard rails that every screaming child joyously runs down.
All of this can be yours for only $ 195 a night.

I liked this hotel, Great value, location, clean, free parking, fridge in the room, free breakfast buffet. I really liked it had one queen and one king bed to accommodate our family. Nice early check of 2pm.

Don’t judge this hotel by its exterior.
The accommodation and staff are excellent!
Front-​desk staff was amazingly courteous and friendly; he gave me choices of which floor /​rooms I wanted. We were able to secured two rooms near each other… Huzzah!!!
Maid service was impeccable!
Amenities include the usual simple toiletries, flat screen tv, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, and iron /​ironing board.
Surprisingly comfortable beds… two sets of pillows per bed (soft & firm); pillowy soft comforters to topped it all off… Zzzz
Delicious breakfast served daily from 6−10am.

A basic relatively clean but dated hotel with a couple of flaws to be aware of.
On the positive side, cleanliness is ok, location is pretty good and there is free wifi (behind a password although the WiFi signal is unprotected and therefore open to snooping). Checkin was quick and easy.
On the downside, the parking is available but incredibly small spaces with awkward walls and posts making using them more challenging still. The rooms are a little noisy for me. There wasn’t a problem with people shouting it was an issue with a noisy refrigerator and the water pipes when someone turned on their faucet and flushed the toilet in rooms around us the sound of water moving rough pipes woke us up a few times. We were on the second floor are when someone was walking in their room above us the floor (our ceiling) would flex and make noises too. Sounded like giants walking around the room above us. I wouldn’t be surprised if these concerns are room dependent but they were (just a little more than) mildly annoying for us.
You get what you pay for I guess so 3 stars.

This is a Comfort Inn — it there cannot be much expected for a motel. My experience staying here was clean, efficient, and effective. What was of good benefit was the location, as nearby resources to restaurants, a grocery store, a couple of pubs, and retail shops. It’s well worth your consideration for staying if needing to stay on Santa Monica Blvd.

==Lobby==
The lobby is designed for function — just a check-​in/​out in an efficient manner. There’s little room for anything else except standing in line if there is a mass amount of people (which wasn’t the case for me). There were a few seats available if they were needed.
==Athletic Recreation==
There is no gym, however, there is a swimming pool that I didn’t use. The pool appears large and deep enough to support a few people swimming short laps, or maybe water aerobics. Do note that my knowledge of water aerobics is nothing, but I believe it can be done.
==Parking==
There is onsite parking, probably room for about 50 or 60 cars. While there is an entrance to the parking lot from Santa Monica Blvd, I would recommend turning onto Harvard Street heading Northwest, and access the parking lot behind the Hotel. It’s a bit easier in my view.
==Hotel Room==
Nothing fancy, it’s all about pure functionality. There’s a bed, shower, TV, and a small fridge. All the items in the room were in working order in my visit. Though, the walls, window, and door could use better acoustic insulation. I can hear everything from all around me. The AC in my room was loud, but then again, this is a motel for affordability, I really can’t be expecting much.

The service was basic — just check you in, check you out — I didn’t interact much with the on-​site staff.

What’s nearby this motel is probably the biggest benefit, being located on Santa Monica Blvd, is an assorted array of strip malls, with various restaurants, but a short walk to Wilshire Blvd brings additional cafes, a few pubs, retail shops, and a grocery store. It’s not bad for a location in Santa Monica, with access to various resources handy accessible by walking or car.
==Summary==
For basically a no-​frills motel, with emphasis on functionality and affordability, near usable resources accessible by car or walking, Comfort Inn should be on your consideration list.

3.5 stars for the great service!
I usually like the comfort inn hotels that are available across the U.S. But I felt like this one was a little bit on the dirtier side? The towels are super old and need to be replaced… Eh. I saw some dark spots on it!
I’ve lived here and in a location in NY, and that was a very good experience. However, my last experience wasn’t so great.
I do appreciate the service, pool amenities, comfortable pillows, and complimentary breakfast though! Don’t get me wrong, that’s all great but I value cleanliness too. Better luck next time?

I was very pleastantly surprised by this Comfort Inn. My friends and I had no great expectations since it was one of the most economic hotels near the Santa Monica Pier. However, we soon realized it was the best pick. Parking is free and never a problem. We were able to park right in front of our room with no trouble. T
he staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room itself was nicer than we expected including a small fridge and a very spacious bathroom (with plenty of mirrors for three girls).
The included breakfast was a complete hit too! Their waffle machine is the best. They have a pretty good variety of choices too from yogurt to cereal and eggs. Waffles were the best though.
They have a shuttle that takes you to the pier (5 minutes away). Overall, a great location at a great price.
