DK’s Donuts & Bakery

I had to unfollow DK’s Donuts on instagram. It made me so sad that it’s a 2 hour drive away from me! Well last week I had 3 hours to kill so I just decided to go on a little foodie adventure. It was the best use of my time.
I didn’t know it’s cash only so make sure you have cash before you go. I highly recommend their donuts. It’s made fresh daily and they have so many different donuts to choose from. The cronuts were amazing even a couple of days after I bought them. I love the nutella cronut. I like how they made it more of a frosting and not just lather nutella all over the cronut. I also loved the strawberry donut and the samoa donut. The ube donut was good but it had bacon toppings which was ok but I don’t think it belongs on a donut. I’m just not used to it. Everything I tried tasted AMAZING! I really want to take my nephews here next time I am in LA. So glad I was able to stop by and try their amazing donuts.

Yes they are always my cheat day. I rather work out twice as hard than miss having a cronut. There variety is always amazing and the staff super fast and sweet. There is so many great options I am always happy.

Great place to stop by for donuts late at night or anytime of the day really! Me and my friend wanted to go to Sidecar actually, but since it was past 9 and they were closed, we came here. They have such a wide variety of donut flavors and toppings that it really took me 15 minutes just to pick a donut. Me and my friend got the fruity pebbles, Nutella filled, and girl scout samoa version. All three were delicious, but kinda heavy to eat all together, so maybe eat one at a time next time :)

Very mixed feelings about this place.
I preordered donuts for my friend’s birthday that spelled out a birthday greeting and her name. If you’re interested, definitely call in early and be aware that you have to pay in advance. It’s a really cute and fun concept, but can get a little pricey for each letter (approximately $ 2.50 a letter, I believe). They actually came out better than I expected (see below), and everyone loved them!
The only downside is the quality of the donuts. I’d like to think I’m a donut aficionado, and had pretty high expectations for this bakery. When I came to pick up my order, I couldn’t help but order a half dozen for my family as well. They have unique ones like red velvet, ube with bacon/​pistachio/​coconut, oreo cookie, samoa flavored, etc., However, looks are very deceiving! The ube donuts I ordered had no ube flavor, except for the ube O-​Nut (of all of the ube flavored ones, I would highly suggest getting that one). Same thing with the red velvet! No flavor. My family did like them though, so maybe I’m just very picky about my donuts.
Although it’s open 24/​7, it can get crowded any time of day. Also, be aware that it is cash only.

The prices are actually pretty good considering how many crazy flavors they offer.
Not only do they have donuts, but they also offer all kinds of sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, etc. I kind of want to go back and try everything.
Not a huge fan of the cronut to be honest. I had never had one and decided to try one. Little too hard for my taste. I like my donuts soft and fluffy and the cronut just did not fit the bill. The old fashioned donuts are delicious, especially when they’re straight out of the oven. Never had ube donuts before, but they were one of our favorites! So tasty! The purple might throw you off a bit, but don’t question it. Just get them. You won’t regret it!

I am in love with their pastries! I am grateful I do not live or work in the near vicinity!
My Sister and I bought some to take home and they seem to taste even better the next morning.

The donuts are not fresh & so many flavor options but none done well.
The ube o-​nut and ube crumb cake both didn’t really have a distinct ube flavor and both make your mouth super purple/​blue… Food coloring anyone?
The Nutella o-​nut had zero taste of Nutella. Just tasted like chocolate whipped cream
and the Samoa… Tastes nothing like Samoa! I have had much better on the east coast @ sugar shack in the northern Virginia area
Sad… I brought a bunch back to the east coast and was disappointed

My boyfriend and our roommate love DK’s donuts. When I saw I was able to get a custom donut order I was super excited. I ordered a «Happy 30^th Birthday Bobby» for my boyfriends birthday. I had our roommate talk with Mayly to choose the flavors and toppings. I was able to conveniently pay via e-​mail and had our roommate pick up the order. When I saw the donuts I was ecstatic, they looked and smelled amazing.
Needless to say my boyfriend loved his birthday «cake.» I love that DK’s offers a unique way to order donuts, I’ve never seen any other donut shop offer this.
So if you’re looking for a cool birthday «cake» or just some delicious donuts, hit up DK’s and get ready to love these unique donuts.

Located in an unassuming plaza, I was so surprised to find how delicious the donuts were here!
First of all, it’s cash only. (I think most donut places are). Luckily they have an ATM machine inside.
When I got there, I kind of felt pressured to order quickly. But I really didn’t know what I wanted! So I kept telling people to cut me.
After mulling over the overwhelming options, I picked the Girl Scout Samoa onut and the regular chocolate sprinkle.
I took a bite out of the onut, and I immediately started to run away from my husband bc I did not want to share a single bite with him. It was THAT good!
The regular chocolate sprinkle was really really good too. Though plain and simple, the donut was so fried and crunchy and crispy, it was so so delicious.
And then the same day, I came back and ordered some more. I don’t remember the name of the flavors but all of them were good.
And then the next day, I got more orders of the Samoa onut and the regular chocolate sprinkle. I guess I can say those are my favorite.

So I finally got around to coming back here. I was heading to hang out with friends, and I gave myself ample time to come here and get over their way. I walked in around 11:30, and it was crowded. I had nineteen dollars in my wallet, and felt like blowing them on donuts. I pulled out my cash, and told the guy behind the counter that’s how much I had. I then began rattling off donuts for him to put in the box.
I got a cookie crisp donut, a trio of cronuts, a maple bar, a peanut butter donut, and one of the ube things because I was curious. Twenty dollars got me seven whole donuts. I was quite disappointed when he said I was out of money. Actually, the total was sixty some-​odd cents more than the moneys I had. With a wave of his hand he said I could come back and pay it back. But I’d owe him. He then packaged up my donuts, and gave me a sticker when I asked for one.
The guy was polite, but did seem a bit annoyed going into the transaction. I appreciate his gesture of covering the money, but he just seemed a bit cold and annoyed. Unlike the happy bubbly welcoming girl at the last donut shop I’d been too. I brought the donuts to my friends house, and they were enjoyed. I enjoyed the few I had. Although the cookie crisps on my cookie crisp donut seemed a bit stale. But to be honest, I haven’t had a bowl of cookie crisp in many, many, many moons. Are they just supposed to be like that normally?
The donuts are indeed artsy, well crafted and tasty. But like Tiffany V. said in an earlier review, they are quite expensive. There are other artsy donut shops are just about as good, just about as pricey, and have bubbly happy people behind the counter. While the guy I interacted with was polite, he was also curt and a bit gruff. If I do return, I’ll be sure to remember an extra dollar to pay them back.

A variety of donuts available from classic glazed to red velvet to strawberry and nutella o nut. Pretty solid, but expected to be blown away based on prior reviews. Though maybe it was because I went in around mid-​afternoon (a couple of the more popular flavors were sold out around this time). At some of the price points, I much preferred Sidecar Donuts.

Got to try this place this past Christmas weekend with my brothers. I was a bit skeptical getting a few cronuts but in the end I’m glad we got two of the ube cronut — my new fav!
This place is tiny with very little parking, luckily they weren’t so busy. We ended up getting a dozen total which cost me a little over $ 30 — yikes! But we couldn’t help it, we drove all the way to Santa Monica for donuts that we wanted try their different donuts.
I finally tried a donut with bacon crumbs — definitely not a fan. The ube bacon donut was not tasteful at all…
4 stars for this place because who really has Ube donuts? Who has cronuts left late in the day? Most cronuts are gone within an hour of opening! I’ve tried cronuts twice before DKs and I was not impressed — DKs has the best cronut so far! Yummy yum yum!

I’m a huge fan of DKs and have been one ever since I’ve found out about this place. I love how its not pretentious at all and a cute family owned business that truly has amazing donuts at such great prices! As an added plus, its open 24 hours! I haven’t tried anything but the donuts, but as for the donuts, I can say that they are fabulous!

So been wanting to try this place but never was in the area long enough to until recently. This is a cash only establishment but don’t worry there’s a 7 – 11 two doors down where you can buy a pack of gum and get cash back. There was a line when we got in but it moved fairly quickly. Tons of varieties of donuts to choose from they even had options of chocolate covered whatever flavored donut, gluten free, quest bar donuts, and even sugar free.
Service was quick and friendly. Donut prices ranged from $ 1 to $ 5 a donut. I enjoyed every donut I tired but i think they were a little bit on the heavier side. I think I still prefer the Donuttery in Huntington Beach over here because of prices, flavoring/​taste and overall freshness. Donuttery is more busy so they’re constantly making and bring out new fresh donuts and you can’t beat them fresh out the fryer. but if in the area I wouldn’t mind stopping in.

After having 6 dozen+ boxes from DK’s (donut judge me), I figured I’ve sampled enough to post a review. DK’s is my favorite donut spot on the westside. I first tried them on a «National Donut Day» last year– note self and others do not ever do that… even the day after had long wrap around lines… I now regularly come here on random weeknights between 7pm-​11pm. There’s never any lines and parking is always available.
Customer service is amazing here. Everyone is always so friendly and it makes choosing new donut flavors fun.
Every single donut I’ve ever had is always a perfect blend of soft and crisp. A true art form. They’re even better when they’re warm. Pro tip: when you get home, heat them for 10 – 15 s.
I like how their flavors aren’t overpoweringly sweet either. This seriously makes for the perfect dessert/​late night craving spot.
My favorites: blueberry cake, ube crumb cake, regular or chocolate glazed, old fashioned, and red velvet.

This was definitely a bad decision for me. I could have had something that I know would be delicious but I chose to try something new. There’s always a first time for everything.
I was excited to try this place since the Unilocal reviews were decent. I ordered a nutella cronut. I haven’t tried a cronut before and wanted to give it a try. DK’s had quite a large variety of cronuts and donuts. First time trying cronuts, not good. This nutella strawberry cronut was too heavy and it made my lips reddish brown. Must have been from the nutella. And the donut holes were too hard. Maybe it wasn’t fresh.
I do have compliment DK’s for their pretty donuts. They were very colorful and alluring. And the donut holes were $ 1.75 for a dozen. That’s amazing. You would like get that price in Hawaii.

Late night Donut Adventure with my friends. I’ve been here. umm a couple of times. This donut shop is close to Santa Monica Promenade. We came here for the Ube flavor donuts. They also sell beverages, sandwiches, and donut ice cream. The seating area is not very clean.

I’ve heard about this place since the cronut started coming to the Los Angeles area a while back, but never got to try this place out until recently. I only got one ube donut since I only had enough cash for one donut. :(
The donut I had was very dense and I didn’t get that ube flavor I was expecting. There are plenty of options to choose from — I was a bit overwhelmed.

This place is okay. The only thing worth you should try are anything girl scout cookie and the ube related. I still haven’t tried the wow-​nuts (Waffle Donut) but I’ve tried the Purple Yam Onut (cronut), the Ube Purple Crumb Cake Donut, Red Velvet Donut and the Girl Scout Cookie Samoa Donut. All have been really yummy!
For the price of the cronuts ($ 4), only the ube flavored one is worth getting because it is unique. Otherwise, I would go to SK Donuts for more variety and freshness.
This location is not the cleanest, and there’s always strange people sitting outside the shop. Be safe and don’t come by yourself!
