Dr. Tristan Bickman, MD

Right from the start I got a wonderful feeling from Dr. Bickman; friendly, personable, professional & knowledgable. Her staff are also super nice!
So happy to find the perfect practitioner!

Dr. Bickman and her team are wonderful and effective. I am always greeted warmly by her office staff and seen within 20 minutes of my appointment. Water, iPhone chargers and natural scented lotions are available for clients in the waiting room. Dr. Bickman is very open, listening and addressing all issues, even after appointment hours via email. I am happy to have been able to work with her on my first pregnancy. After such a positive outcome I am very excited planning for the next.

I unfortunately had to change my gyno due to my insurance plan changing (Thanks Obama Care). I had an abnormal paper smear so i had to go back and forth to Dr Tristan. seriously minium wait is an hour and a half and longest I waited was over 2 hours!. I understand once in a while but every appointment… I’m almost 50 and had gone through various doctors in my life and none compares to the total disregard for people’s time as Dr Tristan. there’s no parking so you have to find street but be prepared to go down to feed the meter or get a ticket, you can park in the building next to hers for $ 9 an hour with no validation. I’ve decided I can’t give her anymore of my life and going to find a new doctor. Note to Dr., You’ve done this long enough and heard everyone’s complaint please have more consideration of your patients time, if other OBGYN can see their patient within a reasonable time so can you. please don’t be greedy by cramming every single patient into your time.

We are so incredibly thrilled to have found Dr. Bickman. Can’t say enough great things about her! Dr. Bickman came highly recommended by our friends, and I can see why! My husband and I are first time soon-​to-​be parents, and she has helped us feel comfortable and well informed from the start. We so appreciate Dr. Bickman and her staff being by our side on our journey to parenthood! :)

I was referred to Dr. Bickman by an acquaintance on Facebook. I trusted her word and experience, and decided to book an appointment for a pap-​smear online. Which seems unheard of for a Dr. Office, but it was quick and extremely easy.
Aside from there being NO PARKING, and getting a ticket. I had to wait for an hour in the waiting room, and then another 30 minutes naked in the little gown listening to other people have their appointments with the Dr. — As noted by other reviewers, the walls are very thin. The appointment went very fast and was over within 15 minutes. I was told they would call me if anything came back abnormal, and if I had any questions to just email her.
A few weeks later I received a bill for 76.46 $, then one week later I received a bill for 240.00 $ from Pathology INC. — fortunately my insurance saw the light and agreed to cover it 100%. (PS– preventative care is covered under the Affordable Care Act, it’s the LAW that it must be covered by insurance companies!!!) The reason I’m giving the 1 star is because of the awful wait, no parking, failure to bill the insurance and not me, and upon emailing AND calling they refused to send me my test results. I’m literally never going to this unorganized and inconsiderate office again. Please steer clear.

NEVER AGAIN. An hour and a half AFTER my appointment time to be seen and now I’m laying here listening to conversations in the exam room next to me. This is absurd.

Dr. Bickman has earned a place in my heart. She has always been there for me and I have been seeing her for almost 8 years for both GYN and OB services. She has been there for both good and hard times for me. I feel that she is very approachable and understanding. She demonstrates genuine concern for her patients’ well being and their lives, not just the OBGYN portion. I value her knowledge and honesty. She makes certain that you understand your plan of care and that your questions or concerned are covered. She responds PROMPTLY to her emails.
She is confident in her practice. I am so appreciative for everything she has done for me and for helping me along my path to motherhood.
I feel like some of the negative reviews are not indicative of the care from Bickman but personal circumstances that reviewers are blaming her for. She works hard, she stays late. Personally I want to trust that someone is there for me when I need them most and that routine visits will wait until critical patients are cared for.

Dr Bickman is a wonderful OBGYN. I was able to book an appointment on the same day and did not have to wait. Not only does she follow up on my labwork and contacted me how I am doing, but she did this also after office hours. Going through menopause is not easy, and I am very happy to have found with Dr Bickman a doctor who really cares and will help me through this transition. Thank you !

This office is a joke. They call you by the wrong name. Make rude jokes. They NEVER even checked vitals AND they obviously can not handle the amount of patients there are because they get your records mixed up! THEY still haven’t transferred records from the request made over a month ago. Seriously, don’t waste your time at this office.

A friend suggested I see Dr. Bickman and after my latest experience, I will NEVER do the same.
First: She insisted on a pap smear, even though I had one last year that came back clean. Just FYI, national guidelines recommend you get one every three years.
Second: I’ve been on birth control for 2 years and never had a problem. Unfortunately the brand was discontinued, so I called her office and asked to be switched to something similar. Three weeks in, I threw the prescription in the trash. I was irrationally moody, reacting to everyone and everything. This was nothing compared to the crippling anxiety and depression that I was feeling. I contacted Bickman with concern for my situation, asking if there was something else we could try. She emailed back: «sure, do you want me to call something in?» Hold up, are we ordering a pizza? I just told you I have severe anxiety and depression — and that’s your response?
The next day, I called her office. Bickman was out, so I asked if there was someone I could speak to about my symptoms. I kid you not, I was told to email her. Stunned, I begged them again — is there ANYONE at all that could please help. I was told no. Are you serious? You’re not even trying to help me? Shouldn’t you be concerned for my well being? Such apathy in the healthcare industry is sickening (literally) and I refuse to endorse it.

I really, really, really want to give Dr. Bickman 5 stars. She’s funny, to the point, and you can book your appointment online. What’s not to love? Everything else.
Whenever you book your appointment, make sure to give yourself a two hour buffer. I get it, babies happen, and sometimes a doctor will have to move some things around for a delivery. However, you get no phone calls or a heads up about the long wait until after you’ve arrived — I’ve waited well over an hour on several occasions. Once you get inside the room, you get to wait some more, up to half an hour, while listen to the appointments of the other patients through the thin walls!
My real nightmare experience came when I decided to try an IUD. Bickman makes you pay upfront with the reassurance you’ll get reimbursed in a few weeks after your insurance pays her office. Believing this would be smooth sailing may be one of my biggest mistakes. However, I did my homework as best as I could — after calling my insurance to make sure they did indeed cover the full costs of the IUD and procedure, I decided to go for it. I paid $ 900 upfront in August and got an IUD inserted. Everything would be great, right? Wrong.
October and November was a never ending game of phone tag between Bickman’s office, her billing office, and my insurance company. Still no reimbursement. Mid-​November, I discovered insurance only covered $ 513 of the procedure, because Bickman was an «in-​network doctor» and was only supposed to charge $ 513 for the procedure, not $ 900 like I paid.
Flash forward to December, when I *finally* received my reimbursement check, not for the full $ 900, but for the $ 513. Although I would have rather chewed my own arm off at this point, when I reached out to her billing department again about this whole scenario, the response I got was «I believe Dr. Bickman just has her own policy when it comes to IUD’s, I’m not sure why».
4 months of billing hell, several hundred dollars lost, terrible customer service, long wait times. I’m sure Bickman is fine if you just need an annual exam, but anything more complicated than that and your stress will last far beyond the initial appointment.

When I’m looking for a doctor, I’m not looking for a friend — I want a clinical expert. Dr. Bickman is both. She’s direct and communicates clearly, she listens to questions. She cares. She saved my baby’s life. Dr. Bickman does her own call, so when you need your doctor — it’s your doctor, not another group physician. She’s amazing.

What a terrible office. After waiting an hour and a half in the waiting room, I had approximately 10 minutes with the doctor for a somewhat in-​depth appointment. If you’re not going to get to me until an hour and a half after my appointment is supposed to start, make my appointment start time an hour and a half later. Why is her time more important than mine? Oh yeah, she gets to bill my insurance company beaucoup bucks, just like the dozen other women in the waiting room.
I’ll spare the specifics of her insensitivity when it came to the annual itself.
It took her office three weeks to give me the results of my annual. Three weeks? Bogus bogus bogus (one «bogus» for each week I was left waiting). Then when I decided to take my care back into the hands of a capable doctor, it took over a week to get my medical results faxed over.
Seeing that Bickman is a fertility doctor, I find it insensitive to have pictures of babies that she’s delivered decorating her office.
Pass.

Dr. Bickman is the most capable, intelligent, honest, and talented doctor I have ever gone to. She was so caring and helpful when it took me forever to get pregnant and once I was pregnant she was an incredible partner.
She was responsible for my care during my last two pregnancies (born 2 years apart) and was a GODSEND to my child and me when one of my deliveries was complicated by a medical emergency that could not have been predicted. She also gave me honest, straight talk about my third pregnancy and delivery when i needed it most.
She is the reason my babies I are healthy and alive.
Yes there is sometimes a long wait, but she DELIVERS BABIES PEOPLE! that means she has to run over to the hospital at the drop of a hat to do so. She is a remarkable doctor who I trusted with my life and my kids’ lives and would go to her again in a HEARTBEAT if I ever had a fourth.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Bickman for 14 years now, and she has seen me through the tricky (VBAC) birth of my baby who’s now 13 years old, and countless questions and issues. From the moment I met her, I knew she was different, and I followed her from her previous multi-​doctor practice to her own practice and am so glad I did.
She is definitely knowledgeable and experienced, of course, but what I really appreciate is her attitude — real warmth combined with a straightforward approach. She tells it to you like it is, neither sugarcoating everything nor too cold/​uncaring, and she follows up personally to find out how you’re doing. While her appointments sometimes run really late (she’s off delivering babies, after all!), her office is well run and efficient, and she is incredibly responsive with questions. I am honored to call her a friend now, which is not how I think of any of my other doctors! And her staff is equally warm and efficient.

I came to Dr. Bickman, two babies ago. I was at approximately the 21^st week of my first pregnancy. There were some complications with the first OB that I had, so I went browsing around my HMO’s website, and read some reviews and whatnot. Honestly, everyone has something to gripe about all doctors, so you have to take reviews for what they are, and understand that everyone’s situation is different. When it comes to an OB, you truly have to find someone that understands you, and you-​them. It’s the doctor and the staff are a complete package that you have to be at least okay with, especially if you are pregnant, and will be seeing the doctor (and staff often). It’s a journey.
With that being said, Dr. Bickman delivered both my babies. Sure, sometimes she’s running late, but that’s because she’s delivering babies! At least she will still see you if you have an appointment, and not cancel the whole day, to make you re-​schedule all over again. If you’re there for pregnancy, you too will get your payback when you have your baby and Dr. Bickman is there, and the other moms will need to wait at the office. Luckily, she delivers most babies across the street, so it’s very convenient for her to go back and forth.
Personally, I like Dr. Bickman and her staff. She’s convenient via email, and will even follow up with me to see how things are coming along! She’s straight to the point, and answers any questions that I have. She doesn’t beat around the bush, which jives well with my personality.

Average wait time 3.5 hrs. Average face time with doc 3 minutes. After a couple hours in the waiting room, plan to wait another hour or two in the office listening to people on either side share their confidential info with the doc, then have them hear your appt through paper thin walls. When I decided to switch docs, my records were withheld for weeks, then given to me incomplete.

I *love* Dr. Bickman. I found her on ZocDoc right after the at home test was positive.
Her bedside manner is straightforward and un-​fussy, which I love. She explained medical topics in layman’s terms, and answered panicked phone calls in the wee hours. I came to really enjoy our visits (she’s hilarious) and by the end of my pregnancy I was bummed I wasn’t going to get to see her weekly! She’s also responsive over email.
I delivered my beautiful son last week. My husband and I spent a good amount of time considering getting a doula. We were concerned about being bullied into medical decisions for the sake of insurance. Specifically, for the sake of the hospital maximizing profits with procedures insurance would subsidize and/​or artificially shortening the duration of labor. In the end, we decided not to get a doula. Turns out, Dr. Bickman was all the advocate we needed! At one point I heard Dr. Bickman say «She wants an epidural! Get her an epidural!» (I was pretty far dilated at that point…)
The wait times in the office can be a little rough. Protip: book the first appointment in the morning and you’ll do a lot less waiting. I actually think the 8:15 slot is reserved exclusively for ZocDoc-​ers. Keep in mind that the reason wait times are longer is because if someone needs an emergency C-​section (or is about to start pushing, etc.), Dr. Bickman is out the door and at the hospital. That gave me a lot of comfort knowing she’d bust her bum to be by my side when I delivered (and she did)!
Another Protip: Insurance companies are, as we know, terrible. When you go to the office for the first visit, ask which labs they use, check which ones are covered by your insurance (you’ll have to ask your insurance company), and ask the office to work exclusively with whichever labs are covered.

I’ve been going to Dr. Bickman for over 5 years now, and I can honestly say, she’s the best OBGYN around. She’s efficient, caring, thorough and competent. She’s always willing to answer questions or concerns I have, day or night. She takes the time to explain procedures, and is attentive and kind.
As for the wait times, I’ve never found it to be a problem. It’s a doctor’s office, not a McDonalds. Sometimes there’s a wait, but you can plan for it.
Additionally, Dr. Bickman’s staff is kind and friendly. The office is very clean and well maintained and comfortable. There’s always bottled water available (which is handy when you have to pee in a cup).
Overall, Dr. Bickman gets 5 stars from me.

I am so very thankful I have found Dr. Bickman. She is definitely the best doctor I have ever had. She’s patient, listens, genuinely cares, and gives excellent advice and care. She even sent me an email to follow up on how I was doing.
I have read some reviews that say some days the wait was a little longer than expected. Patient emergencies do happen, after all it is a gynecologist office. And quite frankly I wouldn’t care if I had to wait all day.(which I haven’t) She is totally worth it. I highly recommend her and will be coming here for years to come.
