History

Established in 2002.

In 1984, award-​winning chef and author, Geraldine Gilliland, established her first restaurant on Main Street in Santa Monica, «Gilliland’s Café».

In 1991, she opened Lula Cocina Mexicana across the street

and in 1993, bought Merlin McFly’s (four doors down from Lula) and opened Jake & Annie’s American-​Irish Café.

In 2001, in honour of her late step-​father, she packed up the artifacts in his Pub in Ireland and arranged for the entire bar to be painstakingly dismantled and shipped through the Panama Canal to Santa Monica.

A crew of Irish craftsmen meticulously reconstructed it and on St. Patrick’s Day, 2002, Jake & Annie’s was reborn as Finn McCool’s Irish Pub — an authentic Irish Pub right at the beach in the heart of sunny California.
