This location is CLOSING SOON! Went into this location for some sewing supplies today only to find out that ¼ of the store is left.
Will have to drive to the La Cienega Blvd location to buy any sewing supplies.
Tip: if you’re looking for fabrics they’re at closing prices.

I went to Joanne Fabric and Craft today to get some fabric. I felt their selection of ribbons and fabrics was good. Many craft magazines sat in the shelves towards the front of the store – I didn’t realize that many magazines existed about crafts.
The service was a 3. The woman who helped me was knowledgeable and seemed glad she could help. It was also quick service too. The wait to check out was longer than expected (probably 5 – 10 minutes) as they had only 2 people checking the line out. That was my main complaint.
Jo-Ann’s has good inventory.

I really loved this location and hate that it’s closing. Compared to the other Joann’s, this location’s fabric selection is much larger, better lit, and not as claustrophobic. And I would always find fun prints that I never saw at the other location.

This place is closing down October 15. Everything is on sale due to the liquidation. They don’t accept any coupons at this location anymore but you will still get some sort of discount. Some shelves are half empty already.

They are really not helpful at all! I was looking for some youth sizes t shirts in blue that I bought from the other Joann store. The registry lady doesn’t show any assistance for finding the t shirts in stock. The other sales doesn’t even get back to me about the stock. Very very bad service!

Short staffed overall. Long wait almost always at the cutting table. Cash register staff good. To avoid going into the store, tried to order online, but that experience was more painful due to load times on the site.
Wish there were more staff, not to mention friendlier staff in the stores.

The last time I went, I picked up a small square piece of fabric sample that is on the ledge of the shelf and asked the staff if the design I picked is on the shelf. She pointed to the shelf and told me it is whatever there is displayed and walked off in an unfriendly manner. I was so mad with her service so I decided to look for it myself. After that I went to the counter to have my fabric cut, both staffs are talking to each other and taking their own sweet time to attend to me when there is no other people in line at that time. I feel that the staff working there are not enthusiastic enough for their job.
Today, I went to Jo-​An again and even when I am next in the line at the cashier, I waited for 5 mins before someone attended to me. There is only 1 cashier though I saw 1 – 2 staffs walking pass the cashier counter. I wonder what are they doing when they see me queuing and was left unattended for some time.
The management should look into improving their manpower and customer service before chasing more customers away from the store.

I have been going to this location a lot lately to buy yarn for a long-​term knitting project. I would say their yarn selection is ok. But given the number of times I have been to this location in the last month, I’ve never had a problem with cashiers taking forever, or anything else like that. I also love their online coupons. You can’t beat that! I have used a coupon for anywhere from 25−60% off one item every time i have gone in. Sometimes more than one coupon as well.

I always dread coming here because there is always only one person working the cash register, no matter how busy or dead the place is! It takes forever to cash out every time. (I am in fact writing this as I stand in the mile long line at the register) Terrible customer service. :(Its truly a shame that the Michaels in downtown Santa Monica closed down

Unfortunately this craft store is very poorly planned. The aisles aren’t named or numbered. They are vaguely organized, so stamps go with ink pads but that’s about it. You’ll be roaming around aimlessly unless you ask for help. The selection is ok — not great. It has decent parking right off Lincoln, so that’s a positive.

One of my lease favorite Joanne’s:
1. Difficult parking on busy Lincoln Blvd
2. Store usually in disarray
3. Incredibly unfriendly staff
That being said the prices are the same as all other Joanne’s so it’s not bad in a pinch!

This Joann’s is THE WORST. Not only is their parking lot a nightmare, but it’s always understaffed. Getting assistance is almost impossible.
I’m currently writing this in-​store and am flabbergasted they would only have three people on staff the night before Halloween. There’s at least 50 customers in the store.
Get it together Joann’s!
Alright I need to update my review… Upon checking out I asked the girl if they were understaffed. She said no. I suggested maybe they hire more people the evening before a holiday. She said the manager likes to come in in the morning. I said you should cater your employee schedule around when there will be more customers, not around with the manager likes to work, then I suggested she read the Unilocal reviews. This place sucks.

The store is HUGE and you can find everything you need for crafts. The shelves and displays are organized, the place is clean. The parking lot is a little scary, but you can survive that after all free parking is always welcome
I came here to buy fabric for my halloween costume. OMG!!! i didnt know there was so many people who know how to sew here Santa Monica! It took me over an hour so the Jo-​Ann employee could cut my fabric!
Elastic bands, zipers and hooks are expensive but hey you normaly just buy obe anyways.

I have had the dubious pleasure of going here on behalf of my partner. As an accountant I would dread to see the stock days & stock t/​o ratio here.
Anyways they are pretty expensive here unless there is a sale. they have pretty much everything arts and crafts relating. Free parking lots too.

The returning process needs to be so MUCH simpler! If you HAVE a receipt why would your computer state «receipt not found»? Then the worker has to go manually through the receipt «in DETAIL» taking, I KID YOU NOT, 20+ minutes to make a return of 13 items!
Get a better system! Or better yet, better trained cashiers!

I literally only shop here because there is no other craft store within like a half hour drive. I’m convinced that’s the only reason this place stays open. The 1 star is because they do usually have what I need, there’s a decent selection of fabrics and art supplies.
However, getting a piece of fabric cut is ALWAYS a horrific customer service experience. The employees ALL seem to hate their job, they are all surly and unfriendly with customers. I’ve literally never had a single employee even smile at me, it’s sort of unbelievable. Sometimes you’re supposed to take a number, but sometimes they just do first come first serve, but it’s very hard to tell, so you’ll take a number and then 3 people will just walk up and get their fabric cut in front of you. OR you won’t take a number, wait for an employee, and then get told you have to take a number (in a nasty tone as if you should have just known that today they felt like using the number system). So absurd.
The SECOND another fabric/​craft store opens I will never set foot in Jo-Ann’s again.

This place looks really ghetto from the outside, but it is actually a normal crafts and fabrics store inside! They have a private parking lot and the location is a decent one in SM close to some other shops. I was able to find a great variety of crafts including wooden numbers and letters, paint, these amazing shells I had been looking for everywhere, and a lot of other fun stuff!
There are coupons on their website and their prices are pretty comparable to Michael’s and other crafts stores too. I will likely be back!

The location is convenient which is of utmost importance in LA. For anyone on the west side, this is the only fabric and general craft store. Michaels has a better selection for most crafts, but they don’t carry fabric and sewing essentials. There are local boutique-​y fabric shops but they tend to be more expensive and not carry arts & craft supplies.
This location of JoAnn definitely pales in comparison to its newer, larger suburban counterparts. But since no one wants to drive 30 minutes to buy something, this location works. While it’s older, not as bright, and the parking is limited… At least it has a parking lot!
In summary, fabric selection is standard for a JoAnn store, craft selection is moderately slim, and there is a private parking lot. If you download their app, they always have a coupon for 40−50% off a regular priced item, which is a great deal!

Looks like they must have gotten this property when SM values were WAY cheaper! A HUGE store, with various craft supplies, and of course fabrics. Since Michael’s on 4^th is now closed, this will probably be our place to look for various supplies for our son as he starts up school.
I stopped in here to make some returns on stuff that my wife had bought. By prices on the items in the check out area, it may be a bit pricey, but not out of this world prices.
