Business Owner

Dr. Michael Payne is a Southern California native, having grown up in the Inland Empire and attended UCLA where he majored in Biology. He later attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, renowned in the profession as one of the finest dental schools in the world. A firm believer in continuing education, he is a graduate of Esthetic Professionals, a premier postgraduate dental education center. He practices in a family oriented dental practice with an emphasis in implant dentistry, reconstructive dentistry and cosmetic dentistry in Santa Monica, California. He is widely recognized for his wonderful chair-​side manner and the beautiful smiles he creates. He has the unique ability to interpret his patient’s desires and dreams and turn them into reality.

Met with Dr. Payne for the first time recently, he and his staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He is very knowledgable and walked through in great detail what my various options were. He took his time and was not running back and forth to see other people. I have since recommended him to pretty much everyone I talk to. While I’m never looking forward to a dentist visit, I am looking forward to seeing him again.

Dr. Payne is a knowledgeable and caring professional. I usually loathe going to get dental work but he and the staff here are awesome. Dr. Payne is huge on patient education and wants you to understand. He’s also personable and easy to talk to… he just gets it. 5 stars!

This was probably the best dental visit I’ve ever had – not because my dental outcome was so great (yikes, $ 3,000 worth of work to be done…), but because Dr. Payne and his hygienist were so thorough and educative during my first visit. They spent nearly three hours with me going over my dental situation in great detail, satisfying my intellectual curiosity and being honest about how to triage my care, never up selling me like I experienced with my last two dentists.

Well let me start by saying that I am a dentist and it is really hard to find someone that I trust to treat me… Thankfully Dr. Payne and his wonderful staff are there to take care of my teeth!!! Two days before my wedding my stress got the best of me and I chipped my bottom front tooth!!! Dr. Payne fixed it; taking the time to make it feel and look like it had never been broken!!!

I had been wanting my teeth filed for years! I had asked my regular dentist to do it and she simply said no and suggested veneers. Can we say money hungry??? No thanks lady, on to the next one!
And that’s when it happened… Dr. Payne in to save the day!!! Not only did he give me the smile I’ve been wanting for YEARS, but he took the time to explain everything to me so that I was clear about what I was getting. The icing on the cake you ask? Smooth music while he works his magic, not that boring, annoying «hold» type of music, the good stuff you can jam to, LOL!
I was nearly an hourly late (for the second day in a row, I know what you’re thinking… who do I think I am showing up an hour late 2 days in a row right? I would totally be thinking the same thing but that’s totally besides the point) He still fit me in and I wasn’t even rushed. He took his time and I genuinely enjoyed my dentist visit!
The entire staff is warm and welcoming too!

Dr. Payne is so amazing! Normally the dentist office is the last place you want to spend 45 minutes to an hour of your day, but I actually look forward to my dentist appointments. From the moment you walk through the door the staff is warm and attentive. Dr. Payne utilizes some of the most most advanced equipment and he is very thorough. He recently repaired my bridge, a process I was totally dreading because of my last dentist, I had no pain or discomfort. He is so professional. My mother is very picky and she even looks forward to her visits to Dr. Payne. I am so happy I found a good dentist. I tell all my family, friends and coworkers if you need a dentist look no further than Dr. Payne.

I came into Dr. Payne’s office for a cleaning and walked out with him as my new dentist. Dr Payne and his team offer the warmest welcome from the healthy snack choices in the lobby to educating their patients on dentistry. I figured I was doing everything correctly until Dr Payne introduced easier and inexpensive ways to optimize my dental health. He also pointed out a dental error from a dentist in the past and helped me in building a case to get the work redone for free. This office really changes the way people view dentistry. He has a great sense of humor and great music which makes the dentist experience exciting. He takes his time and makes sure everything is done right (which still ends up quicker than most dentists).He makes sure you are always comfortable and does honest an painless work ensuring that his patients are left with the highest quality of work for the most reasonable price. Outstanding customer service with the team as well. I highly recommend his services.

I drive all the way from Pasadena to Santa Monica just to see Dr. Payne. I lived in the Bay Area for 3 years and would schedule my dentist appointments around my visits home. That alone says a lot!
I needed an emergency root canal 8 years ago and luckily stumbled across Dr. Payne. Like most people, I HATED going to the dentist. Not anymore! Dr Payne walks me through all of my procedures and constantly checks on me to make sure I’m comfortable. I can feel pressure when he’s working on my teeth, but I’m never in pain. He’s pulled off some serious miracles with some of my teeth. He’s like the best of both worlds. Old school knowledge with modern technology.
I tried going to another dentist closer to home and they tried to rip me off. I asked Dr. Payne for a 2nd opinion and he was very honest with me and went over my x-​rays to explain every area that showed concern. He discussed what needed to be addressed now and how my current habits will effect my teeth 10, 20, 30 years from now. His 2nd opinion saved me almost $ 2,500.
His staff is really great too. They’re always friendly and professional. You can tell that the office is more like a small family.
8 years later and he’s now the dentist for my parents, husband, siblings, cousins, friends, etc. I always refer him and everyone keeps going back.
I’m very lucky I found him.

I have been a patient of Dr. Payne’s for about a year and half now and he is honestly the best dentist I’ve ever had! He is very easy to talk to and helps you feel at ease in the chair. I’ve never had any cavities so I only go in every 6 months for my check-​up and cleaning but he is super gentle and takes his time with you. The staff is also very friendly and they offer you fruit or water to drink when you first arrive. Honestly, customer service is not lost here. Kudos to Dr. Payne’s office!
