I love so many of the dresses I see on the website that my best friend and I decided to roadtrip from San Diego, CA to Los Angeles specifically to go to Nasty Gal. I went to Nasty Gal in search of dresses to wear for my 21^st birthday festivities. We first went to the Melrose location and they didn’t have much, but the sales associates told me that I should check out the Santa Monica location.
When I entered the Santa Monica location, Julie quickly greeted me and I was already holding a dress that I found as I walked in the store and she asked for my name and started a fitting room for me. She asked what I was shopping for and I told her I was turning 21 and needed an outfit for dinner and a few outfits for Vegas. All within the first minute that I walked in! I needed to use the restroom so I went across the street and by the time I came back Julie had filled my dressing room with so many cute dresses! I was so excited, I didn’t even have to walk all around the store to find what I wanted, it was brought right to me! She brought me so many options and helped me pick out just what I was looking for. I spent probably near an hour and a half trying stuff on and she kept checking up on me and helped me zip and unzip the dresses. I’m tall so I was a little insecure about wearing heels, she brought me the cutest heels with not that tall of a heel and helped me embrace how good I looked in them. She also offered me jewelry that I could pair up with my dress. She also brought me water when I was trying my outfits on!
Before making my final choices, I asked her if they had anything sparkly and although there was nothing on the floor, she went upstairs and brought me 4 sparkly dresses that were on sale! Once I had made my final choices she told me to not worry about the other stuff I had tried on, that she was going to put it away. One of the pairs of heels that I wanted wasn’t available in my size so she helped me order them online. When she was checking me out, my card didn’t go through because my bank blocked the transaction because they thought it was fraud. She told me to call my bank to authorize the transaction and patiently waited at the register while I called.
Julie was so sweet and helpful! I had an amazing experience at Nasty Gal and will definitely be back thanks to her. I walked out with 3 dresses, one pair of heels and the pair I ordered online! I’m so excited to wear them!

Love coming here! The managers are so friendly and easy to talk to. I swear the manager here, I think her name was danielle? And the manager at melrose are my fave! I can seriously ask them anything and they always seem so excited to help me out! All of the associates seem approachable. Probably the best shopping experience by far!

I was excited to visit the store, because I shop at Nasty Gal online, but the selection online is much more expansive than the store. The styles at the store are really nichey. I went in looking for a jacket, but they didn’t have much to choose from. I also felt weird in there because the sales associates aren’t friendly and attentive like you would find in other stores. My experience was ultimately underwhelming. I’m not sure if I’d return.

Avoid at all costs, their customer service is terrible. Purchased an item online, had to return it because it was too small. They «lost» the return and didn’t refund my money until 4 months later.
I made a 2^nd order with them and returned 1 item (out of 3). They’ve «lost» that one too and are refusing to give me a refund. Thanks for taking my $ 70 and not caring about customer satisfaction Nasty Gal. Save yourself the trouble and shop somewhere that actually cares about customer service!

I work a block away from this store and walk past it almost everyday during lunch time. It’s always empty. I stopped by this store on NYE to see if I can pick up a last minute NYE outfit. They had about 8 racks of deep discounted inventory they were trying very hard to move. All the clothes looked ratchet. And the regular priced items were stained, damaged, or not in stock. I walked out with a fur jacket out of desperation but ended up not wearing it on NYE.
Today, I went back to the store to return the unworn jacket. It was almost dinner time, which is the peak time for shoppers, but the store was almost empty as usual. I couldn’t find any sales associate to help me so I stood at the cash register for a long time. While I was waiting, I saw few groups of female customers walk in then leave shortly after. No one seemed interested in buying anything in the store. After a few minutes, a couple sales associate girls came out from the back room. They saw me standing at the checkout counter obviously needing help. They just glanced at me then walked away to zone out in the corner of the store. I wait some more. Finally the manager came out from the back and helped me return the merchandise.
I am not sure how this place stays open. The lack of sales associates on the floor and at the cash register tells me there’s usually no customer in the store. Therefore, the workers just hang out in the back room. The hordes of inventory they were trying get rid of, tells me the store doesn’t generate much sales. Looking at their product, it’s not hard to see why:
The clothing tries too hard to be edgy but instead, it’s cheap and cheesy. The quality is on par with forever21 or Hot Topix, except at a much higher price point. If you want edgy, shop to Rag and Bone or All Saints. If you want cheap, go to F21. Don’t waste your money here.

I love this place. It’s a whole new experience for shopping. It isn’t over-​stuffed with merchandise and the showcasing is beautiful.
I REALLY enjoyed shopping & shopping can sometimes give me anxiety with all the sh** to sort through.
When I purchased my dress, the clerks went above & beyond. I mentioned it was for a special occasion and they looked up how the website styled the dress. We all collaborated and figured out how I was going to style it when I wore it. I felt like I had a personal sytlist — love that!
Anyway, the entire staff was super friendly and I keep trying to think of another reason/​event for me to go back in there & shop.

This is by far my favorite place to shop!!! My wardrobe is practically the store the clothes are super sexy and trendy and the quality is great. Cass is one of the best asm’s I have ever worked with she is so attentive and helpful it’s dangerous you will leave spending $$$. She is great with suggestive selling and her product knowledge was amazing. I come here weekly and feel so beautiful every time I leave.

I was so excited to check out the Nasty Gal store after being obsessed with the website for years. They have an actual store now! Alas, it didn’t live up to the experience of shopping online. Everything seemed to be of the punk/​grunge theme; I didn’t see anything in my style. What I love about the site is its diversity and trendiness, but I couldn’t find a trace of that here. Maybe their future stores will be different.

I had no idea nasty gal had a store front. The store itself is spacious but I personally didn’t see a lot of must haves. There was a lovely lace dress number in the 300s but i walked away from it. There were a few pieces that were edgy but majority was something you can find at forever 21 but more expensive.

I have read about Sophia Amoruso’s impressive entrepreneurial raise from start up eBay reseller in vintage designer pieces, then expanding with Nasty Gal ecommerce & launching retail boutiques.
Right when I stepped into this bright white store, I was curious and felt this was exciting, soothing, different, vintage chic, and retro hip. :-)
I LUV the clean concept, sleek design, cheerful layout, and the range as far as quality of the fabric, stitching, and construction of their pieces. They have fair price points to higher price points as evidenced by the higher quality, so there is something for everyone!!! YET THE CLOTHING QUALITY EXCEEDS FAR EXCEEDS Top Shop, H&M, Zara, etc.
I would says it’s more similar to a higher end Nordstrom, Sandro boutique, Maje boutique with various price points, impressive quality, and awesome friendly customer service.
And the dressing rooms mirrors are pretty COOL with these transparent mirrors, you’ll just have to check it out for yourself.
My man bought me 2 items, and there were many more items that peeked my interest as I was walking out. Definitely coming back here again and looking forward to it…

I love shopping at this location. As soon as you walk in there is someone to greet and welcome you to the store. The layout of the store is very unique and fun. Every section has a different trend and is well stocked. I never have trouble finding my size.
If I ever have a question the staff is always friendly and helpful. I always seem to have a great experience here and will definitely continue to come back.

Welp, it didn’t take long for this place to roll all the way down hill.
Be prepared to be virtually invisible to associates. So invisible, that an associate (zoned in the shoe area) can feel free to play a game of «catch» with a sharpie pen with another associate. OH! And be prepared to be glared at as soon as you interrupt their super fun game by asking them for a shoe size! :)

Really cool experience. I ordered twice online and was at Santa Monica for a beach day and popped in. The sales girls were nice they greeted us and helped us into a cool fitting room. I like the Quay Australia Glasses, and Jeffrey Campbell’s. I tried on a pair of cool flare jeans and they were really cool about me taking pictures of the jeans and selfies in the fitting room. If you shop at Banana Republic or jCrew and have a stick up your arse this place is not for you. It’s for the baddies that don’t care if they are greeted or fawned over its for the fierce bitches with individual style.

Horrible service and over priced clothes. I believe it was a store manager who helped me and she was rude and demeaning when speaking to me. I was very disappointed and will not be returning

NASTY GAL = MAJOR FAILS & UNLAWFUL PRACTICES
(most epic fail at the bottom of this review)
Not wanting to risk throwing away good money, I went to the Santa Monica store to try on some of the expensive bathing suit styles I’d seen online.
* * * * * * * * * * * * FAIL #1: TERRIBLE MARKETING
After I got myself to The Promenade, I noticed a few anorexic, young girls in their late teens wearing short dresses sheepishly huddled together and shuffling around on 6″ heels holding up signs that read, «SHOP».
Shop? Which store did these poor girls represent? I shuddered to think which brand’s senior marketing team wasn’t creative enough to come up with a better campaign than to beat prospects with blunt advertising and blasé demands to «Shop».
What proper brand, in today’s intelligent market place would come up with a banal and vapid campaign like that? I guess some brands are still in the habit of treating their prospects like idiots. Not even the signposts were graphically beautiful, well designed, eye-​catching or interesting.
Then I heard one of the girls lightly meek out the words «Nasty Gal» at the end of something she was apparently attempting to broadcast.
Oh boy. After I asked where the store was, I started my way ahead of the waif herd and witnessed countless people eye them up and down behind me. Onlooker’s faces took on a contorted and perplexed expression by what the God-​awful signs were supposed to mean… and perhaps why these young girls were so underfed.
* * * * * * * * * * * * FAIL #2: IMPROPER CARE OF THEIR GARMENTS
I eventually made it to the store. As i looked for the items I had come to try on, I noticed several seemingly nice-​looking strapless tops hung up on pinch-​style hangers. These tops all had sewn-​in ribbons that sales people *should* have used for hanging the garments on, you know, so that the hangers wouldn’t leave marks on the fabric or get the garments bent out of shape? But, for whatever reason, the store didn’t actually think to do this. Thus, all the tops were damaged with fabric scars across the tops, close to the wearable eye line. And… these tops were upwards of $ 200. Yeah, I’m not sure what idiot would buy this terribly cared for and terribly displayed merchandise for that price.
* * * * * * * * * * * * FAIL #3: FLOOR IS NOT STOCKED
Next, I went to the bathing suit area to find the items I had initially came in for. Let me make it clear that the floor was swarming with sales people and fake customers. Yes, they hire people to fill up their stores to make it look more crowded than it actually is. Though it doesn’t affect my reason for shopping there, it did feel a little manipulative and inauthentic.
As for the garments I was looking for, the shelves weren’t stocked for at least 3 of the items I wanted to try so I had to wait for various sales people to go to the backroom to find them. FAIL.
To the owners and management of Nasty Gal: Having to wait several times for garments to be brought down is a waste of time for your customers and not a good shopping experience, especially when the floor is teaming with hired hands.
I did notice, however, that many of the sales ladies had donned their clothes in unusually revealing ways: button-​downs that were unbuttoned too far down, skirts too short to actually get down and help customers with fittings at the bottom of pants and such. Apparently Nasty Gal thinks that we prefer to see more tits as opposed to actually having knowledgeable, capable or experienced customer service.
* * * * * * * * * * * * FAIL #4: PRICE GOUGING
At $ 70, $ 80 and $ 90 a pop for ONE PIECE of a two-​piece bathing suit, there had better be some quality sewn into the garment. But the clothes are shoddily made. NONE of the bathing suit tops provide ANY support. In fact, the only way you can wear them is if you are a size A cup. Many of their clothes don’t even have a liner sewn in.
Another tip for Nasty Gal: The reason Victoria’s Secret can charge upwards of $ 50 for their bras is because their bras provide 10X the amount of support and shape compared to anything else out there. Their stitches, straps, and materials are quality and stand the test of time. Where do you get off charging so much for so little? Perhaps you think that your customers are idiots???
Finally… THE MOST EPIC FAIL OF ALL…
Their dressing rooms use 2-​way mirrors. Even the doors are see through once you turn on the light from the inside! IS THIS EVEN LEGAL??? Aside from not wanting the strange men in the store to see me naked, it made me wonder who was sitting on the inside (the backside) of the dressing rooms? Is this how they «monitor shoplifting»??? NO THANK YOU!
Perhaps I’m not as nasty as a Nasty Gal customer should be. Perhaps my sense of self respect and standards are too high or too educated. Whatever the case may be, these are all clear marks of a brand who’s core values are far out of line with mine.

Got some great things here for extremely reasonable prices. Only thing I’d say is that there was a huge price range here which made shopping a bit more difficult. One thing would be less than $ 100 while a similar item next to it was close to $ 500. Anyway, a great place to shop and was very impressed by the employees who work there. They were extremely attentive, helped me with everything I needed, and weren’t pushy or annoying at all.

It is times like these when I wish Unilocal offered a 6^th star option, because that best describes my experience at Nasty Gal’s new Third Street Promenade location earlier this afternoon.
First of all, let me begin by stating that I normally dread awkward conversations with sales associates. However, Holly was beyond helpful and didn’t linger or try to up sell my friend and I once. We were returning an ill fitting bridesmaid’s dress, and Holly made the process as quick and painless as possible. Mad props, gurl. She even scoured the store and back stock for dresses matching the wedding color scheme and price range. I eventually settled on one of her stellar suggestions. :D
They also carry a ton of Jeffery Campbell and For Love and Lemons, pretty much making this a one-​stop shop.
All in all, highly recommended.

I attended the opening event for Nasty Gal this past Saturday and it was very well done! If you’ve been by SM in the past couple of months, this is the store that had the little step and a peek window to entice and build curiosity as to what store will open there (in classic Nasty Gal fashion).
They had girls on both ends of the 3^rd St. Promenade strip with signs and shirts that said «SHOP» so it definitely made you question what they were advertising for. I initially didn’t intend on going by the event but ended up popping in to check it out.
Inside the store, they had Baked by Melissa cupcakes and NastyGal water bottles. In comparison to the Melrose store, this location is much bigger and seems to have more high-​end merchandise like Chanel bags. The employees were extremely helpful and I will definitely return!
