$ 40 to «replace the pump» in my coffee maker and it still doesn’t work properly.

I’m so happy they were able to fix a vintage, very sentimental toaster of mine. It is over 20 years old and probably has been broken that long as well. Very excited to use it. When I picked it up, there was even a piece of toast in it to prove it worked. Great place!!!

I have a simple Cuisinart stainless blender and she decided not to turn on one day. Given that I don’t use my blender everyday — I put off having her fixed, until I decided to check Unilocal and give these guys a call.
So I took it in and ofcourse it worked as soon as they plugged it in. Lovely, I just sat in 20 minutes of Santa Monica traffic to showcase what little knowledge I have around kitchen gadgetry, and to find out that the blender I’ve been driving around with in my trunk works. WTH? Well, sure enough they took a deeper look at what I imagined to be broken, greased her up and gave her back to me free of charge.
The service, the CUSTOMER SERVICE here is impeccable, they are extremely professional even when a customer brings in a fully functioning device to be repaired. I felt crazy and embarrassed on my own, but they made feel welcome and I felt like I came to the right place if my blender was broken. Well … Atleast I know where to go next time…

Took my Dyson to these guys due to a clog and a weird noise (that I totally caused.) I expected the worst but they said it just needed a cleaning for $ 25, which took less than a day.
You never know what you’re getting with repair (appliance, car, etc.) but they seem really fair, honest and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

I brought in a $ 90 kitchen appliance around Christmas-​time. I received the repaired device today, January 17. My appliance was dropped off around Christmas-​time, so I didn’t get the lightning fast turnaround that some Unilocalers have enjoyed.
The repair cost $ 39. I don’t have any competitors’ estimates, so I don’t know if $ 39 was a great deal or simply a fair deal. Once Newman’s gave me the estimate, it took 6 days for them to complete the repair. That’s fine; I wasn’t in a rush.
This all seems reasonable to me, but not quite the bargain that other Unilocalers have reported. The staff was professional with me and with other customers in the store. They seem to be a busy shop with a healthy number of clients who all trust them to do good work.
I wanted to write in because you never know if a repair shop you’ve never used is going to deliver, and Newman’s did deliver. Wish my repair was a few bucks cheaper, but again, I have no sense of what a fair price to repair a kitchen appliance is. These guys do seem very trustworthy and skilled.
They are open 6 days a week, and they have a handy parking lot behind the building.

I take all small appliance problems to this business. I have gotten consistent excellent service, and what I consider to be fair charges. Terry is their vaccuum repairman, and he replaced the electrical chord when my housekeeper ran over it and it got chewed up, and again recently when the start switch had broken. My vacuum is older, but still has a good sturdy engine, and Terry is able to diagnose problems and go the extra mile to get necessary parts. Great repairman; highly recommend!

I have a restaurant in West Los Angeles and a home near Big Rock in Malibu. I bring them EVEREYTHING and they are prompt and always give me the best price they can. Also very very nice people!

Two days ago, my Jack Lalanne juicer stopped working. I could hear the motor but the blade wasn’t moving. I took it to Newmans and they fixed it in two days. They weren’t sure if they could fix it so they said they would call me with an estimate if they could. They called two days later and told me it could be repaired. It works perfectly now! I am not sure if this is a common problem with the Jack LaLanne juicer but now I know I can always get it fixed.

This guy deserves a Congressional Medal of Honesty. We’ve had several vexing vacuum cleaner issues over the years (we put them through the ringer at our house) and he’s fixed them either for free or really cheap.

Thank God i found this place. Terry was very helpful, honest and went out of his way to help. I went to the other vacuum store near 26 and Santa Monica Blvd and the owner lie to me telling me the engine was stuck. When Terry look at it just told me that i needed to install the hose in the right place, something very simple but the other store wanted to charge me $ 25 to unstuck the engine and $ 49.95 to clean it. Terry did this for $ 15 and i waited 10 min for it.

Helpful, quick service for my vintage vacuum.

We’ve brought our vacuums to Newman’s for years and have always been quite satisfied. Just brought my Miele vacuum in as the rotational mechanism had stopped. Rather than proposing a costly overhaul Terry checked it for me right then. I was out the door, new belt in place, $ 15 total, 10 minutes later. Very satisfied.

This place is great! I brought my vacuum in and the guy fixed it on the spot and didn’t charge me. He said it was a little problem and was happy to do it!

I was in need of an Authorized Hoover Repair Center. Newmans was one of the places listed on Hoover’s website. Took it to Newmans on September 25^th after reading some of the favorable reviews on Unilocal.So I’m back now to share my story.
Over 7 weeks later and they still haven’t returned the cleaner. Over that time I called inquiring, and they’d continue to claim that the parts are out of stock and on back order. They «can’t do the repairs without the parts.»
7 weeks on back order? It’s 2012. We’re not waiting for camels to cross a desert to put the part on a ship. You can track a .99 cent cable from Hong Kong to your door.
Then the final time I called, they had problems finding the cleaner. I was asked if I was sure I dropped it off. WHAT?! Yeah you got me; I just like calling and wasting my time with incompetence. The guy was completely rude. You could tell they had no interest in dealing with my issue. When I mentioned Hoover, I was met with «Go ahead, call them.» Wow, that’s the way to handle things. Kudos.
After calling Hoover and explaining the situation, they apologized for the rudeness of the repair center. The Hoover rep said she would call me back the next day after calling the center and finding out more. Just got off the phone with her, she said their records show the part was delivered Oct 13. Apparently in the confusion, Newman’s used the part on a different repair. Haha, so much for «backordered.» She apologized and took down my address to send me a brand new unit.
I was left completely in the dark with Newman’s. I never received a phone call explaining what was wrong with the unit or what part (s) needed to be ordered. When they had difficulties finding my cleaner, I was done.
I can understand that since it was under warranty by Hoover, they may not be as financially motivated to repair my machine. However, that’s the point of being an authorized repair center. Perhaps they were holding out to bill Hoover for more than it should cost. I don’t know. I just know that I will never step within 50 feet of this black hole ever again.

I called to see if my cuisanart immersion blender could be fixed. I was told by a tender male voice, «sure, maybe, we’ll look at it and give you a free estimate». I I boogie’d over there on my short lunch break, the woman at the counter says, What do you have there, I tell her, she says, what brand? I tell her cuisanart, she just says flat out, no we can’t fix that.
Not impressed with the customer service, as you can see, the phone guy should have said we don’t work on cuisanart, or the lady should have at least let the guy look at it.

Wow. I took my Kitchenaid blender in and thought it was basically a goner or too expensive to repair. Terry quotes me $ 25 dollars to fix it. I agree. I figured I would leave it there but he said «hold on, let me get this taken care of». He takes it in the back and less than 10 minutes later I am good to go with repaired blender in hand.
He is definitely one to have on your ‘go to’ list.
