I am very very very happy about my treatments in Ocean Cosmetic Medicine, Very proffesional and experienced staff. Dr Alan was amazing with me he is the best!, I did hialuronic acid filler in my cheeks, and how beautiful work he did! also I did laser hair removal treatment in my face and all body and it was so good work and made me feel comfortable all the time. (My face was a real problem for me and I am extremly thankful right now). The equipment in that place is the best! Also they have people who speaks spanish, was very helpfull for me!

LUNA is wonderful! Your face will glow after her attentive care. She is smart, competent and very gentle. She devoted more time to us than anybody in other places; mom and I left very happy! Going back asap for more. Btw, she is using one of the best cosmetics out there, it cures your skin, not just camouflages. She knows what she is doing!

I’ve had various treatments with Kristy and have always been very happy. She is an amazing medical aesthetician and I trust her completely with my skin. Had diamond microdermabrasion with a facial infusion with Sara this morning. She was delightful – knowledgeable, passionate and clearly knew what she was about! Not only that but she was easy to talk with and made the horrible commute completely worthwhile. I’ve had bad microdermabrasion before and felt safe and very well taken care of in her capable hands.

Kristie is the best! I’ve had two treatments with her. She spends far more time than at the other places where I’ve had an IPL photo facial and the results are amazing. My skin was really transformed by the treatment I received from her. I plan to return!

I took my 18 yr old daughter to Kristy this week. She is very professional and kind, the office is clean and has state of the art equipment. Today was my first time at Ocean Cosmetic with Kristy doing laser hair removal on my bikini area.
I have had two previous treatments in another city and had great results and a great experience. When I moved to LA I wanted to find someone who was equally as good. From the reviews I had been reading, this didn’t seem to be an easy task.
The price was a little bit of an issue but far more important to me where the results and the «energy» of the person doing the service. After all, you really don’t want someone with a negative energy and personality to hitting your bikini area with a laser whom you didn’t like, right? Fortunately, I came across the reviews for Kristy who seemed to have nothing but glowing reviews and when I called she happened to be having a summer special as well. YAAAY FOR ME! So in I went…
The office was clean. The staff was pleasant. Kristy was on time… even waiting for me to arrive and I was early for my appt as well. Parking in Santa Monica stinks (for those you who are not familiar) but they validated parking which is a HUGE plus.
I have an enormous pain tolerance and can usually do most things, including post surgery, with no pain killers. But, If anyone tells you that laser hair removal is painless in the bikini area… they are lying to you. Even with a powerful numbing cream and a COLD shot blowing at the target site, it’s not comfortable. Definitely not a «walk in the park» for most people but well worth the permanent results. Kristy will tell you the pain level should be at 7 – 8 out of a 10. On a positive note, it only hurts for the fraction of a second that the laser is hitting you. So once it’s over, there is no residual pain. Of course, there will be those extra sensitive people who this review is not intended for. But rather for the general public, so no hate mail please!
My overall experience with Kristy was good. She was pleasant, professional, on time, detail oriented, thorough and explained everything to me. Most of which I already knew but, it is good she explain this to her first time clients anyway.
Before I left I made my next appt with her. Over the next month I’ll see what the end results were from today’s treatment and will follow up this review with my experience.

I have seen Kristy twice for an IPL photofacial. She is amazing at what she does and the results are unbelievable! I have had more people ask me about my skin and I am happy to refer them to Kristy. My skin has NEVER looked better and I wouldn’t trust anyone else! If you want the best skin of your life, this is the place to go.

i’d already had some laser hair removal done in nyc, which did not work at all and was done by some snooty, upscale and inexperienced spa employees (almost a different person every single time — i should have seen the revolving door as a warning sign, though by that time i had already purchased a package). so when i came to kristy, i was fed up with being ripped off and very wary. how lucky i feel to have happened upon ocm through spa week. kristy was patient with my hesitation due to my first experience and quick to answer my many many questions, and on top of that enthusiastic to tell me about their current specials rather than, as most spas do, try to get the most they can out of a customer. the prices here, in general, are a lot more competitive and the knowledge base a lot greater than those of a non-​medical, beauty-​centric-​only spa. i am very pleased with the results of my laser hair removal treatments here; unlike the last place i went to, they are effective!

I went to Ocean Cosmetics Medicine the first time during a promotion a friend told me about. She knew Kristy and recommended her for laser hair removal because I had talked about it for years and she was tired of listening to me! After a thorough exam and discussion, I learned the prices were not at all what I expected. Kristy is not only experienced and professional; she has a gentle and sweet demeanor, which instilled real trust so I decided to try it — at least once. I ended up having a series of treatments, and for less than half the price of what I had assumed for only lower legs, I got legs, bikini, and underarms. Oh, and Kristy even did a little extra laser on the toes for good measure. Farewell to shaving and waxing forever!
In the process of going to Kristy, I also met Dr. Szeftel. Because I had a landmark birthday looming I asked him, theoretically of course, what he would do if I turned him loose. What a surprise! You don’t expect a doctor who deals in life & death pulmonary medicine to also be an artist. He studied my face with the seriousness of a physician but the eye of a sculptor. My skin is quite fair and, fortunately, I was smart enough to start using SPF 30 at least 25 years ago every day, rain or shine. Unfortunately, it still wasn’t enough to protect my skin from discoloration and freckling. We discussed a whole host of procedures he «could» do but many of them he «wouldn’t» do because I didn’t really need it. Another surprise, someone talking you out of giving them money. Between Dr. Szeftel, Kristy, and I, we came up with a plan for a few procedures that were so successful I am now a lifelong client.
First Dr. Szeftel did some facial sculpting using Botox that raised my eyebrows up to a nice arch and took out the furrows between my eyes and the horizontal lines across my forehead. Both caused mostly from years of an overly expressive face — there are pros and cons to this habit. He literally studies your face, uses only the amount of serum needed, and is very specific about where he injects. Plus he doesn’t use so much that you look like a plastic doll. I can still have my overly expressive face without the aging side effects! And unlike every other facility offering Botox, at Ocean Cosmetics they only charge you for the amount of Botox they use, not a flat rate for each area.
Kristy was also giving me IPL/​photofacial treatments on my neck and chest area to get rid of the discoloration from sun exposure. Even using SPF 30 for as long as I have, I had a lot of red and brown blotching and freckles in those areas. You just don’t realize how much that area has been exposed to the sun in your button-​down shirts or V-​necks until you suddenly notice it looks like you’ve been Glee Clubbed with a cola slushy. After a few treatments using slightly different lasers, the discoloration has almost completely disappeared.
The most amazing of all the treatments though was the big one — the Fractionated Laser Resurfacing. Dr. Szeftel can give more details about exactly how this one works but you can’t believe what this does. As he put it, with this treatment the surgical facelift will be almost completely obsolete. This is the deep tissue laser treatment. It goes into the lower levels of the dermis and stimulates natural collagen production in the skin. It also takes off the outer layers of the skin in a pretty serious manner to reveal the new, tighter, and quite literally «lifted» skin below. It does require at least several days of recuperation and they suggest little or no cosmetics for about a week. Your face will be red and angry for a few days and then it will begin to peel so you may look like a molting baby bird for a bit. However, when that goes away and the redness subsides your skin suddenly starts to look smoother, the little lines around your eyes and along the lip-​line begin to diminish, and people start to ask if you’ve been on holiday. Dr. Szeftel did this particular treatment twice, about 4 months apart, and my skin looks so good that I have stopped wearing almost any make-​up at all. When I tell people I’m having a landmark birthday they say they’re shocked that I’m turning 40. You should see the expressions when I tell them I’m not turning 40, I’m turning 50!
Thanks to the team at Ocean Cosmetics, I look rejuvenated not re-​animated. I feel better about myself when I look in the mirror and when I leave the house. No more self consciousness about red lipstick creeping around the lips, dark circles under the eyes, and whether or not I can throw on a short dress without any thought. To top it all off, the entire office staff are upbeat, courteous, and everyone is always, always on time. Most of us can’t even say that about our hair salon! This is the best vanity investment you will ever make — forget the expensive skincare products from department stores, get yourself some SPF, Kristy Charlier, and Dr. Szeftel and get there as fast as you can!

Where do I start… Dr. Szeftel is absolutely incredible! Hands down. I was introduced to him thru a dear friend of mine who started looking better and better. I said «what are you doing?» You look amazing! She told me about Dr. Szeftel. I went to see him for botox and facials and the rest is history. I LOVE how I look and feel. Dr. Szeftel takes his time with you and studies your face thoroughly like he’s creating a painting. I have never felt or looked better. All I can say is RUN don’t walk. He will change your life!

Dr Szeftel is fantastic! I started going to him for botox and facials about a year ago and I have never been happier! I have referred him to numerous friends who have all become loyal fans and patients. He does a very thorough examination of your face prior to any injections. He is truly amazing and has a wonderful bedside manner! I can’t say enough good things about him.
