I never actually saw him. I left 2 messages for Shane, the office manager, with never a return call. I have already been evaluated by another clinic for stem cell therapy, but my chiropractor suggested I call Dr. Fields, so I did. Having been evaluated already I had some specific questions I wanted answers to, and which an office manager in a medical setting is able to answer. Never heard a thing. Maybe they do only want to make consultation appointments there? Prolo people are a dime a dozen, PRP people less so but there are still choices. Stem cell is a smaller pool but there are choices. I’ve made mine!

Dr Field did his magic prolo to my back 2 years ago and I’m still going strong. I don’t even think about my lower back anymore because it’s the strongest part of my body now. My brother didn’t listen to me and went and did surgery. It’s been 8 months and he is still taking narcos for pain !!!

I visited Dr. Fields and actually have The Gold Standard being done on the 13^th of next month. On my initial visit he was very thorough and competent in his understand of HIS art. Don’t know about the rest of these reviews but I’m looking forward to getting back in the gym a couple months after my procedure.
AFTER PROCEDURE:
As expected, Dr. Fields did an excellent job with minimal pain. His staff is excellent including Shane. They communicated with me every day after the procedure to make sure I was doing fine and during the procedure they must have taken my vitals at least 5 times to make sure I’m well. I’m telling you, these are the guys you want to go to. I’m in recovery mode, can’t wait to hit the gym in a few months pedal to the metal.

I’m not a super-​fan of Western medicine, nor do I have an affinity for doctors. (Read: God complex). But Prolotherapy, dear Unilocalers, and Dr. Fields, are totally different.
Thanks to a really bad car accident (if it weren’t for my Volvo, I probably wouldn’t be here), my back was giving out to the point where I could barely move for two to three days at a time. Once, I was literally crawling around on all fours of my apartment. So NOT a good look.
As I understand it, when injury occurs in the joints and tendons, it’s harder for those bits in the body to heal… for whatever reason. So the theory behind Prolotherapy is to inject sugar-​water into those areas to cause mild irritation. This, in turn, alerts the little healing mites in your body to get to work on that specific spot.
I won’t lie: It doesn’t feel great when those needles hit your back. I mean, my pain tolerance is low to begin with, but rest assured that some spots don’t hurt as badly as others. Still, those few minutes of pain are nothing compared to getting your life back. You suck it up and you do it because you know that anything is better than not being able to continue running 25 miles a week. Or go skiing. Or wrestle with your kid. And after several visits to see Dr. Fields, my back problems have been GREATLY reduced. (There’s also a little thing called Valium that you can take a half-​hour before the appointment. Mhm.)
Dr. Fields? He’s simply the best. Great doctors can be found under many nooks and crannies — especially in this town — but Dr. Fields is not only brilliant, he has an excellent bedside manner. He and his staff were always VERY patient with me. And I ain’t easy. #Understatement
Plus, I love that he takes such good care of himself. I worked with a high-​profile attorney once who everyone thought was soooooooooo great. But he was one cheeseburger away from a heart attack. Sorry, but I simply have no respect for that. Emotional Intelligence, people. It really does mean as much as a kick-​ass IQ.

Dr Fields did call me after learning of my extreme dissatisfaction to try and clear things over so I gave him one additional star. I wouldn’t say the problems I had went away as a result, but I do appreciate the time he took to communicate with me. He seemed genuinely surprised at my dissatisfaction and kept referring to my file where I stated on paper that I was getting better (to his credit) However, as I tried to explain that’s because I did FEEL better when I had the treatments but it wasn’t working long term all of my pain kept coming back and I didn’t feel he was providing effective communication when we would talk in person about my lack of completely recovery. Tho we concluded on better terms, I don’t feel still that we saw eye to eye on the situation. I have looked over my review and am trying to present the facts of my interactions with him and the office because my intent is not to slam him personally, but to advise others of what they are getting into. As a result, I feel that my review is still applicable and if the situation is made right or a more positive reputation is built with my husband and I, then I will again update or remove my review. Until then, here are the fact as previously reviewed********
My husband and I have been extremely frustrated with this office. Let me be clear, prolotherapy itself DOES work, but if you can go somewhere else, please avoid Dr Fields office. I however, did not have any other options.
#1 In the 7+ months that I have worked with the office not a single employee has stayed working there. In fact, of the 4 – 5 positions (outside of the dr.) each position has had an average of 4 – 5 people in it (as that’s just the ones I personally encountered going every four to five weeks or so). The Dr must not be easy to get along with. Now at first, this may not be a concern, except it is extremely difficult to get anything done with so much turnover. I have to call an average of 7 times to get my receipts emailed to me for ins billing purposes (or other questions I need answered etc). I can’t generally get the paperwork when I’m there because there is always someone new who doesn’t know how to do it. I generally get voicemail when I call and I have yet to have anyone return a call once I leave a voicemail. I live several hours from the office so I can’t just walk in.
#2 I am often left wondering if he has an issue with women. He’s wonderfully polite to my husband, and generally nicer to me if my husband is there, but if I go myself, Dr. Fields appears to be pushy and a lot less concerned as I try to explain the results of the treatment. On one occasion I tried to shake his hand after the apt. He ignored my hand but then shook my husband’s. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I stuck my hand out again and he jammed the clipboard in my hand. When I asked what it was for he told me (sorta like an order) to «take it up front» desk as if I was his employee.
#3 My husband and I became more and more frustrated as time went on because we couldn’t get Dr Fields to give us a general «game plan». Initially he said that the average person needs 4 – 6 sessions but on the extremely high end 12, but we should see it working before we got that high. However, after 7 treatments, when I had about two months of great results, I wound up back as square one with a lot of pain and «slipping out» we went in for a total of 9 treatments before quitting because he kept increasing the treatments I might need and said you just need to keep coming back every so often. $ 500 a session is a lot of money for not very long term results. We asked him for markers or things to show us that we were on the right path/​or improving but he just kept saying come back for another treatment which is when we really got angry because we strongly began to feel he just wanted our money and wasn’t really concerned about me actually getting better. He never re evaluated me when the treatment results stopped working after only two months of success (it took 4 months of treatment every three weeks to get to that point). He just said I had to come back for more. When I asked him about the fact that he originally said we should know at this point and 12 was the max he changed that and said I just needed to keep coming back. We’ve finally given up on him because we didn’t feel that he actually cared about me being better, just our money.
#4 He’s considerably more expensive than other prolotherapists that I have now worked with, but I wouldn’t base your decision to go on this. Some guys aren’t as knowledgeable or as good at the injections, Dr. Fields does seem to know what he’s doing.

After nearly 4 Months of dealing with a compressed disk, causing severe sciatica down my left side. The Medical Dr told me to see a pain management Dr for an epidural. After doing some research on them I desided it wasn’t for me at that point. during my research I ran across Prolotherapy and thought it should be the first procedure I try prior to Epidural or Surgery. I called Dr Fields and scheduled a consultation at which we went over my MRI. He told me it would probably take 6 – 8 procedures at 3 week intervals. I desided to do them, the first 2 were painful as the irritated area that was inflamed caused the sciatica to react to the point it was hard to stand. But, the 3^rd — 6 treatments were now where near as bad. I am walking around, running, and doing all the things I enjoy pain free. IMO it was the best money I could have spent! Especially being non evasive! I highly recomend taking a look At Prolotherapy!

This review is long overdue. I joined a running group and started running. After my 2^nd half marathon, I must have over done it and my left knee hurt like crazy after Surf City half. I was in pain, could barely walk to my car, and days later, it hurt going downstairs, like it was rubbing or grinding. After my crazy posts on Facebook, a client of Dr. Fields recommended that I see Dr. Fields. (The client had two bad ankles and after 8 or so treatments, is all better, playing sports, etc). I got a prolotherapy treatment on my first visit and consultation. In total, I had 4 prolotherapy treatments, coming back every 3 weeks, but it was improving, but not as much as I hoped, so we did then tried PRP. I did PRP twice, coming in 6 weeks in between appointments. The rates are posted online so it’s not a secret so I’m not sure why people are surprised about the costs. Dr. Fields is an athlete and has done a few triathlons so when I told him I needed to run the LA Marathon, he understood that I needed to get better ASAP. Does he like to talk? Yes. Are his staff friendly? Yes. I’ve never waited more than ten minutes in the lobby, maybe because I go early in the mornings? There are video testimonials as you wait which are inspiring and gives you hope. I didn’t get an MRI. I did take the supplements faithfully bc if I was gonna spend this much on treatments, I wanted to do what he suggested. (My friend didn’t take the supplements). I was supposed to come in to do the video testimony, but I have been too busy to make an appointment. I was 90% good when I stopped the treatments. My last treatment was June 17. My first treatment was in Feb. Since Jun, I’ve done two more half marathons and resumed my running with the running group. I also work out bootcamp twice a week. My knee is fine and doing great, pain free. So, though it was an expensive treatment, it sure beats surgery. I would recommend Dr. Fields if you have knee issues. Thank you Dr. Fields for your help. Your staff was great, especially Manny (I think that’s his name).
An update as of 12÷18÷15: I’ve done 8 full marathons so far and a bunch of half marathons and maintaining my running!

This was a nightmare. I’m going direct to the point: I injured my right shoulder on January 2013, I’ve been a weight lifter for about 12 years now, never had a problem before. After getting an MRI, and I visited an orthopedic doctor I only have one diagnose «impingement» no damage on my tendons although the supraspinatus showed a white spot on the MRI which depicted inflammation called tendonitis. I stopped the gym but since the pain was getting worst and months went by and I was only taking anti-​inflammatories daily and I even tried a cortisone medro pack I decided to do some research online.
I found Dr. Fields’ website and made an appointment (June 2013) which I was hesitating to go to. When I finally went there I could pretty much tell this was the kind of doctor that is very narcissistic and only wants your money type of thing. His office is very fancy, covered with pictures of him competing in marathons, also featuring a fake success stories’ video shown in the waiting area.
The visit is «not covered by insurance» as they let you know on the phone when you make the appointment and it’s a staggering $ 300 which no other doctor in LA, not even the super well trained experts will charge you out of pocket. Let’s do not forget he is a general doctor and a chiropractor, not an orthopedic doctor.
Once I got to see «the doctor», he spent probably 10 minutes testing my shoulder with some passive motions and talking about prolotherapy, nothing like the 45 minute consultation they talked about over the phone. Call me crazy but $ 300 for a 10 minute «consultation» was beyond insulting for me. I was so desperate to get better that I agreed to do the treatment and man! I did pay the consequences.
He injects your shoulder all over the place at least 15 times. He uses sugar water solution to do so which literally feels like burning once it’s in. For that torture you pay $ 375 (besides the $ 300 you already paid for seeing the doctor’s face the first time)
My shoulder never, ever felt worst in my whole life that day and the days to come. I could barely raise my arm and I had to stop all physical activity. The «doctor» also tells you that one session is not enough you need at least anywhere from 8 to 12 sessions, just do some math at $ 375 each.
I was silly enough to do 3 more prolo sessions in the following weeks (you have to wait 3 weeks between sessions) so over all it was a torture which cost me $ 1800 with no results other than getting worst and worst. Prolotherapy is not covered by any insurance, it’s not considered a helpful medical procedure whatsoever, it may cause more scaring (which in my case made it all worst), it’s very expensive and believe me the pain you feel is almost unbearable especially the next 10 days after getting it.
The doctor is also very mean to his staff, in the 9 week period I visited his office I saw 3 different front desk ladies, I saw him yelling at them, and on my last visit I got to talk to his nurse, a really nice guy who complained badly about the doctor and his «procedures». Of course as any other gold digger he offers anti-​aging treatments, IV solutions with vitamins, hormone replacement therapy, etc.
He only wants your money. I could face him any time and tell him about my horrible experience in his face. Besides it was very annoying having to listen to him talking about his Venezuelan ex-​wife endlessly on every single visit, bragging about how much money he has.

Dr. Fields has been treating me for over 2 years. I have traumatic arthritis in my left hip, and have had two series of prolotherapy and PRP 4 times… it has helped miraculously and upon doing so, decided to go ahead and do the right hip as well! My quality of life would not be what it is today, had I not found him!!! I had an accident with a massage and decided to get prolo in my left shoulder… there again… great success… I just recently go trigger finger in my thumb, and I am going for my 3^rd prolo shot… and this should be the final shot… no steroid and everything is up to par… I thank God for Dr. Fields… he has helped me in ways that I never could repay! He ROCKS!!!

As a Physician, LA Marathon Legacy runner and an Ironman triathlete I can only express a huge amount of gratitude. I had a slow fall on my bike and had a tear in my medial meniscus as well as the lateral collateral. Surgery was to be a last choice to fix this per my Orthopedic Doctor at SCOE.
I suffered with pain even with walking for over 3 months Training was out of the question. After a thorough history and consult with Dr Fields we began treatment. Three days after the firset Prolo treatment I could walk without pain. We ended up doing two more treatments with Prolo and also one PRP over the next few months.
I am now back to enjoying training for another Ironman race as well as the LA Marathon.
I would recommend anyone with injury anywhere on the body consult with Dr Peter Fields.

I met Dr. Peter Fields through training as a serious triathlete. Because of the nature of the sport from competing for over 12 years. I developed different injuries in my body. Dr. Peter Fields being a trained athlete himself makes him far more knowdledgable then many other doctors. Dr. Peter Fields has helped me tremendously over the years from having to go under the knife! Everything he does is preventive from having to have surgery. Surgery should always bee the very end result. Dr. Peter Fields cares so much more then many other doctors. He will do everything possible through different treatments and prolotherapy so you don’t have surgery. The wonderful truth is if you work his program of treatments it truly works!!! How many doctors can you go to who advise against surgery. Most want to make money, so surgery is big money in their pocket. s He has helped me by treating my planters fasciitis, herniated disc pain, and major neck issues because of being in aero position on the bike. The man is a true life saver to get me to the starting line pain free and at my very best. I highly recommend him with any injury you may be suffering from.

Everytime I go to the office, I am seen almost two hours after my scheduled appt time. And then during the appointment, he never bothers to listen to my medical issues and just brags about himself the entire time!!! He is also constantly yelling at his staff, who by the way, are extremely nice and more helpful than he is! Every 3 weeks I’ve gone here for my prolotherapy and every time there’s a new nurse, office manager, and front desk person working. He must be unbearable to work with or something.
He only cares about your money, so you better save yourself from going here!!!
