For all the low reviews, this place is unique and the food isn’t what you would typically expect. So if you like a lot of food for a buck go to taco bell, it’s across the street. I had the lettuce cups, they were soo good. I tried a creamy mushroom tomato soup that was a little on the sweet side and the catfish eggplant is amazing. The rice dish I tried was good, not great but it was executed perfectly. I just didn’t have the taste for it. My boyfriend loved it though.

I had the Catfish eggplant, very large chunks of deep wok fried eggplant in red curry paste. It had nice crunchy texture and mild to medium spice level. The serving was plenty big. I went for lunch and it was a bit pricey, $ 13, without rice, $ 2.50.

Once again, Satdha didn’t fail. I ordered takeout and boy am I glad I did. The place was packed for 7:00pm on a Wednesday night! I got in, paid and got out. My food was hot and the order was correct! The mung bean croquettes never fail. I love the added sweet potato shavings and the sauce! My wife and I used to share the order of the catfish eggplant and the beet dyed noodles but we are so obsessed with the beet dyed noodles we actually got two orders on top of the catfish eggplant! And we ate ALL!!! Great job once again Satdha! Thanks for being consistent in your awesomeness. I’ve been craving you all week!

This place has got amazing food. Delicious food, nice hosts, good ambience it has it all. Green curry was so delicious, try it to know it. Endive cups are must try. Snap Pea salad is amazing too and so as their brown rice. Why I cut one star is, little disappointed with Papaya salad plating. Portion felt little less, plus the big size cabbage and other veggies on side was good for eye only. Vermicelli curry salad was good, specially the sauce but it got messy when i tried to mix everything together and eat in a plate. Would have loved if the serving option was different. Definitely gonna try more in future.

I had high hopes for this place given all of the great reviews but I don’t know that I can justify giving this restaurant 4 or 5 stars. I loved that the food was extremely fresh and there were certain dishes that I thought were delicious, but I didn’t love everything we had. We ordered the Mung Bean Croquette and Snap Pea Thai Salad to start. The croquettes were average — they looked more amazing than they tasted — but the snap pea salad was to die for! We then ordered three entrees to share: the Mung Bean Pad Thai, the Green Curry, and the Kow Kuk Kapi(rice dish). I thought the flavors of all of the dishes were unique and the freshness of everything really came through, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the pad thai or the rice dish. The pad thai was made with vermichelli noodles, which are not my favorite, so that’s probably a huge reason why I didn’t like this dish as much. The rice dish just didn’t have enough taste to stand out as a memorable entrée(seemed more like a side to me instead of an entrée). Lastly, regarding the green curry, the curry flavor was good — not too spicy — and I liked that it came with different veggies than the norm(included green beans and garbanzo beans). Even though I was not blown away, the snap pea salad was so good that I would go back just for that.

I’m not a vegetarian and I have traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia. The food at Satdha is extremely good. The ingredients are fresh and you can feel the authenticity in what they are doing. It’s one of those rare places that you just know they are doing it because the love what they do. The service could be a little faster but the little wait is well worth it.

HEALTHYANDDELICIOUS (5 stars and a meteor shower) Plant-base authentic Thai food! Real Thai people cooking real Thai food. On the Westside there has been no discovery of good Thai food that exist until the first bite at this place. Probably my favorite vegan restaurant in SoCal. The quality and freshness in their ingredients and taste has beat several of the thai restaurants I’ve tried in Thai town. The restaurant is very clean, the service was exceptional, the price is affordable, and the food was outstanding. This place will be a regular visited destination. And the goal is to eat the entire menu… So expect updates on updates in the near future. Presentation of their food is definitely foodporn worthy. MEANGKHAM — chard wrap with shredded coconut, cashew, shiitake bacon, lime zest, shallots, ginger, chili, flavored with herb tamarind chutney. Mix of flavors dancing on the palate! It is 100x delicious with the herb tamarind chutney. Presentation was nice. Great for a light starter. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. PADTHAI — Rice noodles, baked tofu, bean sprouts, garlic chives, peanuts and pickled carrot. Chose this dish to test the execution. If a place cannot perfect a staple dish then it tells you something. This place passed with flying colors!!! Perfect tasting Pad Thai. Great flavor even when it’s vegetarian. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. COCONUTSTICKYRICEANDMANGO — I love dessert and will always leave room. Presentation was chic. It reminded me of Art in which I did not want to deconstruct for consumption. The mango was ripe, the purple rice was coated with a yummy coconut cream, and garnished with a caramel sesame square. It was the perfect ending to a nice meal. HIGHLYRECOMMEND. Will I be back? YES!!! So much deliciousness to try. I cannot wait. JABAAPPROVED. Until the next review…

This is really delicious and creative vegan Thai food. My second time there and I can’t wait to return and try other dishes on the menu.

I was excited about a 4.5 star vegan organic Thai restaurant but unfortunately this place doesn’t deserve that rating. First flag, they wouldn’t give me anything creamy for my chai. Second flag, my massuman curry had quarters of onions. Who wants to eat huge chunks of uncut undercooked onion, plus there were pieces of undercooked potato that were massive. My friends were also disappointed in their food and needless to say I won’t be returning here.

Divine is the word! Since we are vegetarians finding this place in LA was a gold mine. They have limited parking available outside the restaurant. While the restaurant is a bit loud when full, the décor is neat and simple. Service was very efficient. I had the kow mun kai, my wife the Yellow curry rice and chive blossoms. We also tried their home-made lemonade and the ginger beer. The choice of house music was very eclectic. The food was phenomenal, and presented well.

This was close to our hotel so we ate here our first night in Santa Monica. We had a party of three and came in around 9, but they were very welcoming and we were seated promptly. I had plum oolong tea and it was so delicious. For our app we had the chard wraps. I loved this. The textures and flavors were perfect. We shared the green curry, beet noodles, and snap pea salad. Definitely order the beet noodles and snap pea salad. They are so different from anything I’ve had at other Thai places. We ended with mango sticky rice. A perfect meal and still very affordable.

The only way to start this review is with YUMYUMYUMYUM!!! Anyone who says that they can’t eat vegan, please take them here! Their life will be changed and they’ll have to reevaluate that statement. In all seriousness, I spent over a month in Thailand gobbling up all the country’s delicious flavors and this place is on par with what I had abroad. I don’t know how they do it, but it is beyond yummy! Suggestion: Start with a bowl of the tom kha and then for your entrée devour the yellow curry. Disclaimer: Prepare for flavor overload.

Satdha has become my favorite spot for Thai food in culver city/Santa Monica areas. I have eaten in almost all the local Thai restaurants in the area and none of them has ever made it even close to the flavors what the chef creates here. When I spoke to one of their staff, they mentioned almost everything on menu is made from scratch at the restaurant and they try to keep the cuisine as authentic as possible. Eating vegetarian food here is always a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Thai food. Mainstream Thai restaurants are mostly non vegetarian and this place has set a great example how vegetarian diet can be equally tasty. The portions are small for the amount of money they charge yet most of their produce is local/organic. Service can be little slow at times and thus I would rate them at four instead of a five.

If I had known plant-based food tasted this good, I would have become a vegetarian a long time ago. I’ve been to Satdha quite a few times now and I have been blown away by the food each time. The food is flavorful and fresh, and despite the substitutes, still true to their meat-filled counterparts. In fact, the food is so good that I took my parents here while they were in town a few weeks back, and they still talk about it as the highlight of their trip. I’ve had several of the dishes here — including a couple of the appetizers — and all of them have been excellent. If I had to make suggestions, I would definitely recommend the pad thai, green curry, catfish eggplant, and the endive cups. Also, definitely get the lemongrass lemonade — it’s delicious! My only complaint with Sadtha is that the dishes are disproportional in serving size to one another, but for the quality of the food, I can live with that. :)

I just don’t understand the reviews for this place. We walked in with high hopes being both vegan food lovers and thai food lovers. As soon as we walked in — hostess sat us at the end of the restaurant next to restroom even though there were several tables open. When asked to be seated closer to the front, she said«NO!»…whatever still wanted to try the food. We ordered two appetizers and asked for their tamarind sauce on the side for our main entrees and the waitress told us we have to order the Entire entrée to get that sauce on the side which is just ridiculous. We thought«hey this place must have amazing food and that’s why they don’t like to give sauces on the side.» Understandable. WRONG! The coconut appetizer we ordered tasted like saw dust. As soon as we ate it, our tummies started rumbling and their mung bean croquettes tasted like stale fish which is odd for a vegan restaurant. Almost like beans that had freezer burn. As soon as we tasted the appetizers we cancelled our entrees and jetted out. This is NOT thai food! This is an Americanized vegan place with thai inspired food with thai people working there. I don’t understand the hype about this place. People of Santa Monica, if you want good thai vegan food — there are several greats ones in LA that provide that without lacking taste and authenticity of the food.

I get it now when people say this is THEBEST vegan Thai food. If you’re familiar with the Los Angeles foodscape, you’re well aware that there are more vegan thai restaurants(and sometimes, *gulp*, only purportedly vegan) in this city than you can shake a stick at, and for the most part, if you’ve had one, you’ve had them all. Satdha is here to crush all of your expectations and serve you some seriously inventive, seriously delicious food, in a seriously nice restaurant. This is no cafeteria dump, this is a lovely place to eat! I felt perfectly at home ordering a glass of wine and settling in. One of the most distinctive differences between Satdha and those«other» vegan Thai places is the lack of mock meats. Don’t get me wrong, I love chick’n 100xs more than I ever enjoyed its fleshy counterpart, but when a restaurant starts getting creative with whole foods taking the place of meat, I take notice. Instead of soy nuggets, I saw coconut bacon, mung bean meatballs, tuna made from cashews, oyster mushrooms, and tempeh. You’ve got my attention! I started with one of my favorite soups, Tom Kha. It was delicious! Not too rich, perfectly spicy, with meaty oyster mushrooms throughout. The lemongrass flavor was amazing, and I had to keep myself from licking the bowl. With almost every vegan I know on Unilocal raving about the«Catfish» Eggplant, I absolutely had to try it, and I’m so glad I did! It was a gorgeous plate of fried eggplant, and it is uncanny how much it resembled fish. It would flake!!! I might’ve gasped at my first bite. Pillow-y gems encrusted in fried goodness, exploding with flavor. This dish wasn’t at all spicy, but didn’t taste bland in the least. I’d order it again in a heartbeat! I paid exactly what I’d expect to pay at a nice restaurant for a glass of wine, appetizer, and an entrée. Was it cheap? No, but the food is not your typical Thai food takeout, so make sure you manage your expectations. What you get for the price is a fantastic meal. I will be back to eat everything else!

My mom took me here because she has been wanting to try this place. Apparently she drove by the other weekend and it was PACKED! So we came for lunch today. After I found out that it was vegan, I wasn’t as excited… Boy, let me tell you, I was WRONG. Food here is really tasty, clean, and fresh! And the restaurant is very clean as well with lots of open windows for natural lighting. FOOD: We shared a few plates including the green curry, fried catfish eggplant, and their pad thai. Their green curry was my favorite thing. Really nice and rich curry with lots of veggies! I got it with a side of brown rice which was very satisfying. I loved the bamboo shoots and chickpeas in it. The pad thai was also another favorite. Not too sour but I wish it was more spicy! Instead of meat, they used tofu and surprisingly it was a nice substitute. I enjoyed how flavorful the dish was overall. The eggplant catfish was nice as well. Very flavorful and huge cuts of eggplant. The eggplant had a crispy exterior with a soft and melt in your mouth inside. It comes with a spicy red curry sauce with bell peppers and fried basil leaves. Although the dish was fried, it was still pretty light. For dessert, we got an order of their coconut ice cream to share which was refreshing and not too sweet. They had little pieces of coconut in the ice cream which added a nice texture. I liked how it wasn’t so creamy. A great ending to a wonderful meal. SERVICE: Ugh. Not that great. Our server was kind of rude and rarely checked up on us.

I’d heard many good things about this place from my coworker. Finally, months later, I was able to try it. It was good. Really good. My friend and I got the mung bean noodles, endive cups, catfish eggplant, and mango sticky rice. The Endive Cups were delicious. I’m normally not a fan of the taste of tuna when it’s not ahi but because this is all plant based, I just went with it. The flavor was so fresh and zesty. The lettuce was the right amount of crisp to hold the contents and add some texture. Careful of that chili pepper though. It can catch you off guard. The catfish eggplant was good but slightly inconsistent. Some pieces of eggplant were done extremely well while the others weren’t cooked all the way making the dish a hit or miss. The noodle were delicious — mainly for the sauce — but I felt like after the nice portion size for the eggplant, it was a little too small of a dish. The mango on the mango sticky rice was actually the most delicious mango I have ever had. I wanted to ask where they got their mangoes from because I was that blown away. I haven’t seen it done with the red rice that they used but it was good regardless. The service is good, one of the perks of going to a small place like this is the staff really seems to care and aren’t overworked by taking care of so many tables. There is a private lot but the parking can get really stressful. The spots are little too small for my tastes(but then again it’s LA so I should be used to it by now).

Had a decent experience here. Fast service, private parking lot, simple décor. 1. Lemongrass lemonade: really good, but tastes like a light lemonade where they put a piece of lemongrass in the drink. 2. Meang kham: cute little veggie cups and sauteed onions. Came with what looked like kale chips on the side. Really enjoyed this light dish. It comes with a tamarind sauce you can pour inside the cups. Each dish comes with 4 cups. 3. Tom yum soup: I enjoyed the flavors. Not too spicy or salty. The mushrooms inside were huge. May have been better a little smaller, so easier to eat. 4. Snap peas fried salad: This was another light dish with some peanuts. Overall well flavored and very crispy texture. I enjoyed this dish very much, although the portions are small. 5. Green curry: Really nice rich flavor. I got it with brown rice, and it was very satsfying. My favorite dish of the evening. 6. Vermicelli with mushroom and curry sauce: I did like the dish, although the vermicelli portion was really small. The components come separately on the plate and you can mix with the amount of sauce you want on the plate itself. 7. Taro tapioca pudding: Loved this! Not too sweet. 8. Mango sticky rice: Not a huge fan of this, surprisingly. I’ve had way better. For some reason, it just didn’t come together. I think maybe it wasn’t mango season? The texture of the rice wasn’t quite right either. Overall, a good experience. It’s a bit pricy to get full because the entrees themselves aren’t terribly large. But you know you’re getting healthy food.

For a decent Thai experience out in the Santa Monica area, I would say Satdha is an okay option. My friend and I were craving some good Thai food and had noticed some of the great reviews for this place. As we entered the manager had greeted us and even made small talk before being seated which was pretty quickly. Out came the complimentary kale chips, which were pleasantly crispy and not too oily, and fruit flavored water, which was cool and refreshing. Here are some of the food options we tried: Crying tiger– For an appetizer, I would say that this had underwhelming portions for the price. Although I am all for the use of mushrooms as a meat substitute, the portobello pieces were not that huge or special. The herb sauce on the side was pretty spicy and added much needed flavor to the dish, but I didn’t think it complemented the mushroom and thus could not save this otherwise bland dish. Eggplant catfish– I could bathe in the red curry paste sauce that was used for this dish because it was soo good! It had the right mix of heat and sweetness to complement the«meat». What was also equally amazing was the fact that they were able to get battered eggplant to taste very close to the texture and taste of catfish. I would highly recommend this dish! Green curry– while good, it was not my favorite green curry preparation. Don’t get me wrong, the curry was filled with goodies like chickpeas, bamboo shoots, and egg plant. The curry flavor was pretty solid. However, for some reason, the combination of the curry and the chunks was not completely satisfying. Perhaps having other more visually appealing and flavorful vegetables could have added something. The restaurant has a small private lot for guests to park. There is not a lot of parking but it does not seem to get overly crowded. Again, as I mentioned earlier, the service was pretty attentive and great. Overall, although the service was top notch and there was some promising/good dishes, Satdha’s food that I did try was not quite enough to give it a four star. However, I am willing to go again to try some of their other dishes with the hopes of being proven wrong.
